I've discovered, to my utter surprise, that just referring to the milk in my coffee, I consume fewer calories if I use the whole milk that we have in the fridge for the kids.

I usually use semi-skimmed or, preferably, soya wholebean, but we had run out of both. I am such a dreadful house keeper. So, forced to steal the kids' I realised I only needed about half the milk to get my preferred "whiteness". Intrigued I did a little experiment and it was confirmed. I used about half the volume, and that had fewer calories than the volume of semi-skimmed I would usually add.

Now, of course there are other considerations, like protein and ethics that I also care about, so back to the soya, but I shan't feel as worried about the odd whole milk coffee scenario from now on.

This is so true. When i used skim milk i had to add more to get it to taste (and look like i wanted aka skim milk makes tea/coffee look like dirty dishwater), but i only need a dash of full cream milk. Full cream milk obviously is also more filling, creamier and just tastes better (to me).

I have lost 35 pounds while drinking whole milk almost daily.

You lost 35 pounds daily? :o Please send me your diet.

I did not say, nor does my comment imply that I lost 35 pounds daily. I said drank whole milk daily. You would have it seem as though I said, "While drinking whole milk I lost 35 pounds daily." I am certain the original poster understands my comment.

Sadly, no milk is best, until you get to goal weight

This seems a really silly comment to me - unless it is a joke that I didnt get???

At any rate, I successfully lost weight and maintained after reaching goal, by using mostly skim milk, sometimes full fat if skim wasn't available.

Incidentally it didnt make me sad either, zamphir.
