Woo hoo! By moderating my food intake, using the myfitnesspal app and more sleep I have lost 5 lbs in 1 week!

Weigh in day for me! No workouts from being sick, but I kept my eating in check. Looking forward to my workouts again and continuing on this journey.

Hi, all! I hope it is not too late to join. I have fallen off the wagon and gained 15 lbs that I worked hard to loose last year. My overall goal is just to feel great again, physically and mentally. To help me along the way, I hope to gain motivation through you all, tracking my caloric intake and exercise. I would love some new friends. Add me or PM me if you would like.

Welcome! My overall goal is to feel and look well also, but it's definitely motivating to see the scale move in the right direction!

That's an awesome start! I agree the weight loss slows down quite a bit (at least for me), so it's great to see big numbers at the beginning!0 -

Hang in there! Losing while strength training can be tough. I've found that adding HIIT sessions can help. Let us know what tweaks you make.0 -

I love working out with kettlebells. I have a nice set at home so workouts are generally easy to get in. Kettlebells are small, portable and deceptively effective. I really love Lauren Brooks for kettlebell training. She has a variety of programs and kettlebell workout videos. I am also working toward a standard from the book Simple & Sinister - 24kg one handed swings and 16kg turkish get ups.
I find that also having very specific strength goals that I want to achieve helps a lot - most are kettlebell related, but I do have one that relates to barbell work - I would love to be able to deadlift 320#. I don't know how long it will take me to get there, but I know I'll make it someday, if not by the end of this year.
Lastly, I just go for variety and trying to stay active whether it's jump roping with my kids, walking to the park and actively playing with them on the playground, playing basketball with them, walking, etc. Just staying active consistently helps a lot too.
My biggest issue is keeping my eating dialed in consistently. I just looked at my history and this is the 6th time I've worked to lose the weight in 4 years. I've lost and regained about 100 pounds during that time. I've learned that perfectionism and giving up do not work, at all. I've also learned that, for me, staying active consistently and having a workout that I enjoy and tracking my eating is a forever/lifestyle choice.2 -
I'm in! 40 year old female in DC. I just started working towards a half-marathon - I did one 3 years ago but got away from running and put on weight for various reasons. One pound of weight loss a week is probably more realistic for me given my work/commute schedule, but let's see how it goes..!

Good luck on the half marathon! That's amazing! How long are you giving yourself to train before the actual run?0 -

isn't that the worse? You have a bad day at work or at home or whatever, and suddenly you've eaten a full tray of brownies. But that's ok! The only thing you can do is pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and start fresh in the morning. You can do it!4 -
