Off! I don't even like wearing socks around the house. (And I definitely can't wear socks to sleep---I always wake up in the middle of the night hot and coughing! Much better after I take off my socks. Am I the only one this happens to? lol)0

Love this question! Definitely OFF! I grew up in Northern Ontario with a clean-freak Mom (that I have now turned into). I particularly appreciated this practice when I lived in Belize (on the beach) for 2 years... and shoveled enough sand out of the apartment as it was. Now in Guatemala.... still taking the shoes off, and always will. Keep slippers by the door!0

Off! US
However, everyone on soap operas leaves them on0 -
From the UK. In my mothers house, off. Father didnt care.
I live in Japan now, definitely off. I feel very odd if I don't take my shoes off as soon as I step inside the house.0 -
95% of the time I home I am barefoot, even outside. However, I don't make everyone else take their shoes off in the house. The bf always wears shoes or sandals.0

US. I am an "off" but my husband is an "on." Wasn't worth arguing over - except when he tracks mud or snow or rain and then I step in it!
Of course I wear slip on shoes almost constantly so I have them off when I am at work, in the car, etc etc!0 -

Shoes off - socks when it is cold in the house. We could wear our shoes in the house growing up, but took them off soon as we got to our room. Shoes were not left by the door. In my house now, shoes come off at door, but its not required. All my daughter's friends had asian friends or are asian, so they see the shoes and take them off automatically.0 -

LOL, this is so true. I live in Costa Rica, and I hate wearing shoes, and everytime I go to a ticos house, they act like I'm crazy. And when they comment how dirty the bottom of my feet are, I smile and say ... they were clean when I left home, if they're dirty, it's because your floor is dirty.0

I live in Canada, shoes off around here, who really wants mud, gravel, dog poop, gum, random nastiness all over their home?0

Shoes come off at the door; I don't impose it on guests but most people know my preference and take off their shoes anyway.
I don't expect workman etc to take off their shoes, but I do shampoo or mop after they leave.0 -
Ireland - off for me, bare feet, shoes are for outside. That is just me personally, is not a family thing or anything.0

when i started this thread i really didnt think there would be so many "offs". we done!!!0

My sick twisted rescue dog has a foot fetish. It's not safe to be barefoot. I even cover them when I sleep.0

London - Off, comfort reasons?0

I'm a hillbilly. No shoes, period.0

If I don't have to wear shoes I don't. My feet get dirty in the summer but grass on my feet feels so good!0

I take mine off in the house, but my husband can't stand to be without shoes unless he is getting ready for bed.
But FYI, I also own a broom... so my house isn't dirty. lol.0
