I love the ACV threads. They're a combination of the most eyerollingly hilarious woo and fantastic recipe ideas.

Some properties are not woo though. The weight loss promise-yeah that's woo, but using it to help acid reflux, get rid of warts, etc are not woo.

True. I was meaning the miracle weightloss, metabolism speeder-upper, and alkalinization woo.

I'm trying ACV for fibroids after reading this: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/38292073/#Comment_38292073

Not optimistic but it's not hurting anything. Been doing this for a few weeks. Have not noticed any weight loss effects.

    I heat 12 oz water, add 1 T blackstrap molasses, 1 T vinegar, 1 t powdered buffered vitamin C. It's absolutely dreadful.

Yeah. I wouldn't expect weight loss from it. I've only ever seen it used for fibroids and cysts. It definitely takes several months to work. Have you had an US to measure the size of your fibroids? Or are they located in such a place where an US would work for that? It was kind of cool that one of my best friends had hers measured before and after because she (and the doctor) could actually see then how much it had changed.

I had an ultrasound a few years back but the fibroids were so big they couldn't get good pictures so I've been getting MRIs since. Had one of those in 2015 (as well as 2014 I think). My new GYN said she doesn't need the size of the individuals fibroids, just the size of my uterus, and said I could just have an US next time, which I need to schedule.

Should I mention that it "alkalizes" your body? No OP, just kidding. It doesn't do that either. :/

It does from what I've read. It is an acid but after it is processes it has an alkalizing effect.

You do realize you can't alkalize your body, right?

    nk0pb9n6x1n9.jpg

Do you realize that is a logarithmic scale and when you anti-log 7.45 and 7.35 that is a difference of about 26%.

    (10^7.45) / (10^7.35) = 1.2589

I've tried it. It's awesome on pulled pork and can also be a reasonable substitute for malt vinegar on fish & chips if I don't happen to have any malt vinegar handy.

For weight loss? Doesn't help one bit, unless maybe chugging the malt vinegar keeps you from drinking a chocolate milkshake instead.

Hmmm...this never occurred to me. Might have to try this the next time I run out of malt vinegar.

I use it on my hair in place of commercial conditioner, and I mix it with mouthwash and warm water for a foot soak that makes my feet AMAZINGLY soft!

I use ACV diluted with water in my hair about once a month. Gets rid of buildup and makes my hair nice and soft. Love it.

It also is fantastic on warts lol

RE: Acid reflux & ACV, I tried it and thought I was going to die. It made it so much worse. I abused myself for 3 days hoping it was going to work. Worst 3 days of my life. It does work for some people, just not me.

Hey have anyone tried this acv, if so how do you like it & is it beneficial? When do you drink it & with what? I'm looking to try it soon

Ive only used it for digestion issues. I had bad issues for 2 years.. think IBS and you can get an idea of the hell I was going through. Got desperate, researched what I can do to fix it, and found that 2 tbs a day of ACV takes care of that issue. I though I was going to be sick. So ...freaking.. NASTY! I could only handle it for 3 days before I decided the torture just wasnt WORTH it. I had tried mixing in OJ and SOY as was suggested but that was even worse. It was easier to have the OJ on hand to down directly after. Burned like fire! But 3 days was all it took. For the first time in my life I had NO tummy issues. Now, any time I notice my system is starting to revert, I force the ACV for a day and am cured for months on end. Who would have thought? I couldnt do it for weight loss though. I gag every time and twice had to clean up the..er..results after. Shame pickle juice doesnt have the same good results. I can handle pickle juice!

I detest it also but do it every day using this method:
    1. mix 2-tbs of acv with 6-tbs of tart cherry juice (the tart cherry juice masks the tart vinegar better than anything I've mixed it with).
    2. Get another glass and fill with water
    3. Chug down the juice/acv mixture while only breathing through the mouth (you can't taste stuff much if you don't breath through the nose)
    4. Chase that with the water.
    5. Breath through nose again.

That get's me through it without too much difficulty. Trying that with just water instead of the cherry juice would still give me shudders.

I take 1 tablespoon every morning. I don't mix it with anything. I just hold my nose like a 5 year old and chase it with water.

It is good for almost everything. Gave a drink to my brother when he couldn't stop hiccuping. It did the trick.

That would kill me! I would think that might burn the throat also. Be careful.

Used to take apple cider vinegar tablets. Great diuretic. So helpful if you are retaining water.

I DO shudder.. I seriously start shaking like I am expecting to be hit. You can throw snakes on me, spiders on me, come at me with a knife.. NO PROB! One tbs of acv however will have me cowering like a frightened worm.

I take it occasionally when I have indigestion/acid reflux (I'm one of the people it works for). I just pour about 2 tablespoons into a 2-ounce shot glass, fill it the rest of the way with water and gulp it down, then chase it with a couple gulps of water and rinse my mouth out. But I'm also somebody who absolutely drowns deep-fried fish in malt vinegar when I eat it, so I'm used to the taste of vinegar and rather like it.

I think my wife could drink it straight from the bottle. She loves the stuff. I can barely stand getting it down with the juice. Since I've started using it, she has grown very fond of it and eats it everyday on something because she likes it! YUCK! :s

If I'm out hiking in extreme temps hot or cold my face will get a few whiteheads, acv on a qtip disolves them in seconds. I'll mix it with honey if I get a sore throat, it helps. Never believed anything I've read regarding weight loss.
