Everyone is an "expert"

It is funny to read what some people write on here, everyone is an expert at everything. Jay Cutler 4x Mr. Olympia has a vid out on YouTube where he says that his clients will argue about the best training methods and "everyone is an expert". Its so true lol. Who else agrees with me?

As an expert on this topic, I totally agree with you.33

Which things do people write that you find funny?0

But are you an expert? I've seen some things you've posted that sound very broscience-y.27

Its just general advice that people give when asked. Then when someone disagrees with them or even has research or IDK a degree in that field, they are still more knowledgeable and give better advice. Everyone for the most part seems to be an expert at health and fitness, diets, bodybuilding, weigh training etc.2

I find these threads seem to appear when someone has posted something derpy or brosciency and is called out. But I'm no expert.32

A lot of us who are not brand new to working out and taking care of our health, professional accreditation or not, are rightfully skeptical of advice received online and do our best to parse it through our own common sense and preferences. Also a lot of people who ask for advice online are actually just looking for support and agreement.6

There are actually a lot of veteran posters here who ARE experts: personal trainers, registered dietitians, biochemists, research scientists, doctors, professional fitness competitors, etc.
There are also some basic laws of science and physiology that you don't need to be an expert to know are true.

Taking advice from Jay Cutler.........lolz This is MyFitnessPal not Mr. Olympia..... 99.99999% of the people on here could care less about roided up bodybuilders and their diets, workouts, etc..... They are and always will be specific to people who choose to use roids.12

I like what Wendler has to say on the subject.0

I disagree with you. Anytime somebody uses absolutes such as "everyone" and "everything", I assume they're too lazy to make accurate assessments and I cannot believe much from them.
I do think members of this place are very knowledgeable on a broad range of things and sometimes you have to put your ego away and focus on learning. That's what I do anyways.27 -
My advice is worth what people pay me for it
In all seriousness, most of us here reply based on our own experiences. I can only answer based on my experience, which is different from yours and different from the next guy. What works for me training-wise might not work for you. Experiment, evaluate, adapt.

Ehh. Everyone has their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. If something they post helps someone in a positive way, I don't think it matters that they are an expert or not.0

Well, I am an expert in the opinions of others, and I agree wholeheartedly that you have one! Have a bagel!13 -

Experts today are old news tomorrow. Want true expert advice? Think, "ancient history".. Before scientist and experts starting telling everyone that they are doing it wrong and what the 'right way' is. Better yet, look at cultures with the least obesity ratings and health problems who still eat like their ancestors ate. Look at the work they do and how often they work. Look at their quality of life. Those are the "experts". Example.. eating fish for health vs limiting it because of mercury and waste run off. The longest living cultures are still eating their fish!0

I feel like I missed a thread? Was something deleted that I didn't see? A thread or a post? I am lost about the hate and roided up bodybuilders.5

Oh *kitten*, that reminds me...I forgot to pull my salmon out of the freezer for dinner tonight...crap! I don't have a plan B...seriously, this just reminded me...I feel like I missed a thread? Yeah, I feel like I'm missing something too...2 -
Well to be honest. As a NATURE lifter I would never take hypertrophy advice from a Mr Olympia winner for obvious reasons. But op, judging by your profile pick, I feel like his advice might be a bit more suited to you.5
