Open or Closed Diary?

Noticing that the majority of my friends keep their food diary closed even to friends. That's okay with me, I mean if they want to keep it private that's their business. Just wondering about the thought process behind it. Do you keep your diary open, closed, open for friends only, or what? And why?

Open keeps me Honest.0 -
Closed, as I only need to be accountable to myself. Also, I had to deal with too many Judgy McJudgersons when I had my diary open. Ain't nobody got time for that!0

That's why I'd never have my open for strangers but if my friends start being judgy then I will probably just start wondering why they're on my friend's list in the first place :0/0 -
I honestly don't even remember if mine is set to open or closed anymore. When it was open at the height of my dieting I developed way too much food anxiety. I was literally crying before parties because I knew I would overeat. Keeping my food logs private was a concession to my therapist, who wanted me to quit the diet completely if I couldn't find a way to work it into my life better.
Now the diary here is only ever half filled out. I keep most of my logs on paper and just log things here while I'm at work or when I'm unsure of the calorie content of something. I'm accountable to me and only me and if I need to go back to logging everything here that option will still be available.0 -
Open but I don't keep track off my food. Which I will probably start doing soon.0
-
Open because I don't care what random internet strangers think of what I eat.0
-
Closed. So people won't be jealous of all the bacon and ice cream I eat.0
-
Open because I just care that much.0

I only let friends see mine as they know you better0

Open to friends. I like looking at friends' diaries for new food ideas, so I like to return the favor. It also makes me feel more accountable. Haven't had any friends be judgmental.0

My diary is open to my friends. I don't mind them seeing what I eat. Maybe they'll have suggestions or great recipe ideas. Who knows?0

Open! I may not log the best stuff ever, but I log every day, every meal. I am not a pro at being healthy, so I like the possibility of feedback from fellow MFP'ers. I also don't feel like I have any platform to complain or give anyone else advice if they can't see how I am doing. I don't mind the transparency at all! :drinker:0

I keep mine open and log everything. I know that I am not going to eat perfect 100% of the time and that is alright as long as it is in moderation.0

Mine's open at all times. It's your constitutional right to know what I eat. That way, you can let me know if I'm sidestepping. I welcome that.0

Mine is open to everyone.. I don't care that people see what I eat and how much I eat.0

Well after extensive review (despite not know what "sidestepping" is) my verdict is that you should be dead. Y u no eat food, guy?!
EDIT: To point out that this isn't a judgement of your calorie level but rather that you didn't log anything yesterday, or the day before, or the day before... So yeah, still a little judgy I suppose. But really, what's the point in an open diary if it's empty? :flowerforyou:0 -
Mine is open to friends and most of my friends is open to their friends. We do review each others and comment. Yes we make suggestions and kibbitz, normally in jest. But if I see a trend that is troubling to me, I'll mention it. For example, if someone is habitually WAY under 1200 calories. We get ideas from each other's diaries. And yes, I'm a bit of an exhibitionist too. But having the accountability to others has helped me immensely. And I log everything.0

Mine is open and I frequently look at my friends open diaries to get ideas on new foods to eat. Sometimes the same old thing get's boring! I welcome constructive criticism but if people start telling me I need to eat clean, blah blah blah, and aren't willing to come and cook for me on a daily basis then they can shush. I do what I want.0

Love that you feel comfortable enough with your friends to mention it if you see "a trend that is troubling." Honestly, I have looked at some of my friend's diaries and thought "wow... they're eating very little" or "hmmm... I don't know if they REALLY burned 1000 calories doing 30 minutes of zumba" but a lot of times I don't know how to broach the subject without sounding judgy.0 -

Point taken. Don't why I always forget to log my food in!! I'll keep a reminder to remind me after my meals!! Not too sure about dead, but yeah, I probably should eat more. Thanks for the input.0 -
I keep mine open because it helps me stay accountable for everything I stuff into my mouth. lol Plus, I like getting feedback, help and suggestions.0

I keep mine open. I don't really care what random strangers think of my food choices.0

Mine is open to everyone, it's called accountability. I wouldn't want to eat bad and keep it in secret because how is that helping me, even if I am UNDER calories for the day. I'm public for feedback. I appreciate the feedback.0

My diary is open to the public. I really don't care if other people see what I eat.0
