@Candida83 please back up your claims with scientific proof. I guess you haven't read this post:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1308408/why-aspartame-isnt-scary
Then you'll realize what aspartame actually is instead of fearmongering.
"According to researchers and physicians studying the adverse
effects of aspartame, the following list contains a selection
of chronic illnesses which may be caused or worsened by the chronic,
long-term ingestion of aspartame. (Mission Possible 1994, Stoddard
1995)*:
Brain tumors Multiple sclerosis
Epilepsy Chronic faigue syndrome
Parkinson's Disease Alzheimer's
Mental retardation Lymphoma
Birth defects Fibromyalgia
Diabetes Arthritis (including Rheumatoid)
Chemical Sensitivities Attention Deficit Disorder
*Note: In some cases such as MS, the severe symptoms
mimic the illness or exacerbate the illness,
but do not cause the disease.
Also, please note that this is an incomplete list. Clearly,
ingestion of a very slow poison (as discussed in other FAQs) is not
beneficial to anyone who has a chronic illness.
Finally, potential toxicity effects from aspartame including brain
cancer (as seen in pre-approval research) and effects on fetal brain
and nervous system development will be discussed in other FAQs." ~ from studies conducted by the FDA.1 -

I noticed that when my sister drank loads of soda her face would puff up.
She also had a round face and used to drink lots of soda.
As soon as she cut the soda out (which was very difficult) her face changed and had definition.
Try to cut the soda and drink water and see if it changes your face.
Hope that's the answer x
The high sodium content found inside soda is the culprit!
No. Perhaps you have to read the thread again. Soda has as much sodium as......water. Yeah.cerise_noir wrote: »burthdaygurl wrote: »mandy220750 wrote: »Hi,

I'm not on the threads all that often, but today I learned something new. Thanks for correcting me.2 -
I don't know whether soft drinks really make your face puffy, but they certainly aren't going to do much for your health. Do you really have to drink that stuff? What's wrong with good old fashioned water? Or am I just that boring??1

Today I jumped on the threads for the first time in a few days. Just want to say that I appreciate those of you who corrected me for something I had mistakenly believed for a long time. As someone who doesn't ever buy (or drink) soda, I've not had the opportunity (or desire) to check it out. I believed what I had heard. Today I know different. Thanks!5

My face gets puffy when I eat a lot of carbs and salt together/on the same day. It's definitely noticeable. My eyes get puffy too. I love salt and carbs.0

How about we try something a little more current, since aspartame has been researched to death since 1995? This is from 2013.
https://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/press/news/131210
"Aspartame and its breakdown products are safe for human consumption at current levels of exposure, EFSA concludes in its first full risk assessment of this sweetener. To carry out its risk assessment, EFSA has undertaken a rigorous review of all available scientific research on aspartame and its breakdown products, including both animal and human studies."3 -
OP ... If your face is puffy/swelling please see a doc. There are many medical, hormonal, allergy related things that could cause this.
Get a qualified opinion first, or if you've had one and are still concerned get a second one.
What stands out to me was your comment that your family all have very round faces. A lot of our physical appearance is shaped by DNA.
...............
Regardless of arguments pro/anti soft drink or artificial sweeteners, if there are no medical issues and this is the only change you identify you could do a trail elimination and see if there's any difference.
A couple of years back I started taking a small amount of coconut oil. After a few days my face swelled mildly but noticeably. I wondered if it could be the oil, so j stopped. Swelling went away after a couple of days.
I tried the coconut oil for a few day about six months later. Same reaction.
I'm not allergic to coconut. I use coconut milk and cream and even oil in cooking at times but my body has a bit of a reaction to just to oil on its own.
Sometimes our bodies have unpredictable reactions.
..............
As I wrote, check with the doc if your concerned, but other than that your face is likely to look the way your genetics are going to make it, and eliminating then reintroducing a food etc can help identify if it's contributing.0
