@beeerrunner No, not technical trails. I'm not familiar with the area, but based on pics from last year and from the map, the dirt portion is basically an old dirt road (technically still a road on the map, it appears):

@7lenny7 Yes, my trail shoes definitely pick up and hold onto mud, but they also seem to do a good job of keeping me from sliding and falling on it.

I'm about to retire my road shoes anyway, so I probably wouldn't even bother cleaning them off if they got muddy. I think ya'll have some good points... I was leaning towards the trail shoes at first, but now thinking I'll take the road shoes out.

things are going well on the additional days running idea. I'm really enjoying my runs right now, although I'm still pushing too fast.

this morning was damp and I only for a moment considered not going out. Did some puddle-testing of the Kinvara 8's. They responded well, draining swiftly.

and....er....I'm toying with the idea of a FULL marathon next year. I know, I haven't even done a half yet....

Is that a buried ammonite? ima come dig it up, ahaha! o:)

I don't really have any experience with highly technical trail running, but based on that pic you posted I've done quite a few of my long runs on surfaces like that, and have always just worn my road shoes, with no problems at all.

Oh @RespectTheKitty sorry to hear you're struggling.

Hopefully the outpatient program can get you on the way to feeling better. Check in now and then even just to say hi, and get runs in if and when you feel like it.

@midwesterner85 I get distracted a fair amount when running on hard surfaces/gravel and dive off into the woods - the surface can be muddy and rocky so perhaps similar to what you may get. I wear my Skechers a lot and they do fine on the mud. Having said that, I already suspect the kinvara's won't be as good - I can feel the occasional slip on the muddier sections of road.

If it's going to be muddy, then as others have suggested, if your shoes will hold the mud that's less than good. You may find you need to modify the way you run, so as not to slip and slide too much, but judging from those pictures, most road shoes should be okay.

Very, very sick. Spent all day yesterday in bed with horribly anxiety. Went to the ER this morning and they're putting me in an outpatient program. I start tomorrow.

No running obviously yesterday but did manage a 3.5 mile run/walk in the afternoon today and it felt good.

Wish me luck with this outpatient program. I'm in a really bad place and I need to get it under control.

May not check in that much, but I'll try to keep up.

    @RespectTheKitty - wishing you wellness.

@Elise4270 - I think you might be faster than me at the moment on 4 miles (estimated). But I'm working on it!

Wow! Haha! Well I think I was running off all the Georgia food. I may be on to something. :p

@JessicaMcB Wow, that is terrible. Even worse that people blame the victim. WTF?!

@midwesterner85 I agree, its so sad that the first reaction a lot of people had was to essentially blame her or start drama (someone close to the situation issued a warning on the town facebook group about what had happened and quite a few people kept clucking about how they needed more details, etc.).

I just hope she is okay and they figure out who did it. A lot of unsolved crime here (people going missing) and a girl was murdered on the trails system in 2008. Between that and how flat out aggressive some men have been to me and other female runners I know in town, this is shaping up to be an uneasy season. Pricing the new treadmill tomorrow at least so I have the option to avoid it I guess...

@JessicaMcB -- How awful!! I will say a prayer for her and her family. Do police have any leads on the attacker?
