Hi My name Is Nicole, I'm just starting out on this app and I really have no idea what foods to eat that are good for me. I would really love some recommendations of healthy foods to eat for weight loss.

You can eat anything as long as you are in a deficit3
-
It doesn't matter what you eat. Only thing that matters is that you weigh it on a digital scale, log it in your diary here and stay within your target calories.1
-
What they said. Obviously focus more on whole foods (fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, healthy fats), but don't deprive yourself of a treat if you want it and it fits your goals.6
-
Look at the labels of everything you buy the % helps a lot of how much you need to eat in a day , for example if something has 260mg of sodium that's about 10% of your daily value so now you know how much is too much, does that make sense to you? Hope I helped0

i like lots of food so I tend to to stick to so called clean foods so I can have lots of them lol things like chicken breast, 2% turkey breast mince, tuna and lots vegtables so i don't feel hungry0

Nuts are deemed "clean" by some people but they pack a calorie punch.
OP, eat anything you like just make it fit your calories.
To feel fuller eat a lot of fruit and veg. I just ate 800g a day and was stuffed to bursting!3 -
I felt the same when I started. So I started by logging all the foods I would normally eat. Over time I have been able to make smart food choices that fit into my calorie goal. I found by entering the food before I ate it helped. I was surprised how many calories are in certain foods such as mayonnaise. (I love mayo). I have adjusted and found lower calorie alternatives so I can still enjoy mayo with a meal and stay in my calorie goal.2

Just remember some foods are more filling
A bowl porridge will fill you up more than toast
A chicken meal with jacket potatoe fresh veg will be more filling than a burger
Same calories more food plus fresh unprocessed foods take longer to digest so your body burns more calories digesting chicken veg meal than a burger
Cooking from scratch mean no extra addictives Salt etc added
I have mixture of both that's why cals work for me as I can have what I like in my budget I just spend it wisely0 -

Most of that is different for each person. The burger fills me much more due to the fat content.
Thermic effect really won't make much difference.4 -

Burgers vary in goodness a McDonald's burger is made of produce we can't eat until they add a chemical
Well done on a burger filling you up I'm all for eating what you like but you do need to try and be healthier
A burger is not good for you compared to a proper chicken meal

Which chemical would that be?
No one food is healthy or unhealthy. A total diet is what counts.7 -

Nothing wrong with a burger, even from McDonald's.
OP Start with what you eat now, and decide in bits and pieces what you want to swap out to make your choices more satisfying.6 -
A burger fills me up too!2

See all those whole foods in your grocery store...eat a lot of those. Nutrition is for the most part, common sense when you stop buying into the industry nonsense.
I also had pizza on Friday night.1 -

What? That needs corrected! You have to try one. Yummy burger.1 -

Who says a burger isn't "good for you"? What exactly do you mean by "good for you" anyway?
One is beef, one is chicken, both are animal source protein.
Dark meat chicken can have more fat than lean beef.
In any case, fat isn't bad or unhealthy, it's just high calorie, and we need some in our diet.
What makes a chicken meal "proper"? Why can't a burger be included in a meal?
Really, I don't know where you are getting this food prejudice.
You don't magically become "healthier" because you eat bird and not cow.
Losing significant weight however, often clears up a number of health issues all by itself.

What were you eating before you started? Give a sample of your daily menu. That might be good information to provide, if you want some useful tips.0 -

I hate Big Macs...McChicken FTW, or Quarter Pounder if I have more calories.0 -
The closer your food comes to stuff you'll want to eat when you're maintaining, the more sustainable. I'd say that I'm eating cleaner than I used to. As in, I'm eating less high-sugar/salt snack foods than I used to, but I haven't actually eliminated foods from my diet. From my house, yes. I know exactly how low my willpower will be with a bag of soft chocolate-chip cookies. But I sort of 'reserve the right' to have one as a treat if I'm visiting a friend. And if I know that it's okay for me to have that one cookie, I can stick to fruit for the rest of the visit much more easily than if I had in mind, "No cookie for me. If I want to lose weight, I must stick to fruits and veggies. No indulgences!"
I have cut back on dining out. Partly because the restaurants that I go to don't post the calories on their menu. But again, that's 'cut back' not 'cut out'. I plan for it, I check menus ahead of time to get ideas of what to order, and then I enjoy.
Down 39 lbs as of today, so I think it's probably working...1
