From what I gather is women can gain large muscles naturally, but it would take a concerted effort of years.
I could be wrong but I think he meant to say it looks like you gain weight around the hips....
Like this girl. Is this for real?? I follow her and she's so articulate and knowledgable. But then j look at those bum pics and I gotta wonder if that's actually possible to do naturally.0 -

Is a popular Instagram person but again, she's been about for a while and whilst I can't say I know her personally, I know of her and I know people she trains with. I think she's pretty good at marketing herself, but I'm also aware that she trains hard and takes quality advice from some big names in the UK fitness/competitor prepping arena, and has been doing so for years.

She's gained some body fat and her breasts are also larger. Whatever the lifting did for her, there are other things going on as well.1

She also obviously gained weight. I'm not sure that that much mass in the butt is possible... but she also gained even in her chest...maybe 20 lbs...so she may have gained fat in those areas as well.

That girl Abby has considerably larger breasts, too.
She was also a teen when those pics were taken. So, she likely had a growth/puberty spurt and also put on some body fat. All while working out. And her "after" pictures are all in the same exaggerated pose that models that want to show off bigger butts do.
Sure, there's likely some "improvement" in that area, but I wouldn't take it too seriously.5 -

Well she is posing differently in the photos and flexing/sticking her booty out, which is fine but obviously can be deceiving. I would say take a look at the second photo (2012-2016) which I find the most reasonable out of all of them. My two year transformation is pretty dramatic (not as dramatic as hers) but it is definitely possible with proper glute focused training and eating at surplus0 -

Yes, Abby is real -BUT- she is relying heavily on posing here. You can tell from the side shot that she has a normal fit butt.
A good give away of falseness is excessive volume in the upper butt and excessive size from the side.2 -
The other thing is that these beauty standards are so arbitrary. When I was 20, I was supposed look waif-like. Then it was broad shoulders/narrow hips. Now I'm supposed to have a flat stomach and a round butt? How about just getting fit and letting your body take its own optimal shape, instead of trying to look like someone else?

Kettlebell kettlebell kettlebell. I am 48. Even though I have been unable to work out for 3 years from having neuro Lyme Disease...my butt is my best asset lol. It is still lifted luscious and round. I am including this link for youtube with varied people doing exercises. I have Lisa Balash Kettlebell bombshell dvd and love it as well as numerous others but hers is great because it is a slow workout with method as opposed to work out like a class. Capiche? just commenting to say, as someone who also suffers from lyme disease, you are amazing! it took me years to manage the pain, but i am back to working out all the time now so i know you will be soon too!1 -
also, squat butts are not real, obviously. BUTT if you want the name of my surgeon, get at me! he works wonders2

Yes! I see this on IG all the time! Why is that? I always wondered....is their booty so big, it just makes them LOOK like that back is seriously curved? But that can't be good for you. They also all have massive boobs and an itty bitty waist. I think except for the few genetically blessed hourglass figures out there, that's not going to happen naturally either.
Always makes me think of Sir Mix-A-Lot. 36-24-36....only if she's 5'3"! Bwahaha. I'd love to see an actual person with those measurements naturally. I smell a new thread...

The best butt at the Gym I go to belongs to a young woman, (under 30 I would estimate) who kills it on her "leg day" after her warm up she goes straight for a barbell and a bench to do hip thrusts with some 315 lbs... 3 sets of 15... then the smith machine for lunges ... then it's off to the squat machine and then leg curls, she spends at least 2 hours "working it" what is her diet like? I couldn't say... I do know she takes her workouts a serious as any.
of course it takes time and dedication to work yourself up to weights exceeding 300 lbs... and this young lady has obviously taken the time and dedicated herself to herself... sure there are smoke and mirrors to enhance fitness models... but if you spend anytime at a co-ed gym... you will find women of all ages putting in the effort... just like dudes. Bro's and Brah's ... so, spend less time cruising social media... and become a participant in your life and YOU won't be asking questions like this.1 -

But I'm cruising around Instagram and YouTube and so many girls have large bums which they claim are caused by their squats and bridge lifts. Lifting heavy.

When we're talking glutes, Yes you can build them. No, they won't make you have a giant rear. Those are usually fat covering muscle. Most of that is genetics and where your fat stores tend to go.
Squats are still great to do though, and really any muscle is good muscle. Just don't expect Squats or any glute work to give you more mass down there. Especially if you are lean.4 -

Though most of what you said is true, your last statement is judgy. Some of us aren't sitting on our *kitten* just reading social media... we are unable to be at the gym at the moment so we look for the best of advice and may have questions that we'd love to hear REAL answers to... So I think that you should stop judging and leave the best info you can...Which you DID, but you'll lose people by saying stuff like your last sentence.0 -

IG/YouTube is full of people posting trying to be famous and/or selling a product. Much like one sees a model using a bowflex or aerobics DVD with muscular body, its just a form of marketing to sell products. Social media is full of bad information and followed by people that believe and follow them/it.

I think women can expect to gain .5-1 lb of muscle per month if eating over maintenance and training consistently. But, you can't just gain in your glutes.
You can target working your glutes if you have something to work with. Everyone has glutes, of course, but some glutes are very underdeveloped.
Bret Conteras' Strong Curves is good.
it is more like .25 muscle to .75 fat for every pond gained...2 -
Round butts are mostly fat and genetics. And the before/afters are mostly down to posing just right.1
