It kind of won the First Search Engine War, devouring such contenders as Hotbot, Lycos, and Webcrawler. Others have risen to challenge. To date, none have succeeded.

I clean with vinegar. Great for getting rid of ants. Also great for making sweet pickles.

Oh my, I'm glad I ran into this thread. Now I know where not to go for help and encouragement. I was doing a search on liver health issues and this thread came up. I have a lot of scary autoimmune things going on so I've been researching everything and anything. I also have heard lots of different things about ACV. Here's some info from WebMD http://www.webmd.com/diet/apple-cider-vinegar-and-your-health Maybe try some autoimmune forums for real experiences with taking ACV. People there are very friendly and helpful. On Facebook, search for hypothyroid mom. She has a very big following and touches on all types of health issues including weight loss. Mostly everyone is helpful and encouraging. I research everything to death but, like you, hearing from people who have actually experienced whatever you're researching is very helpful so I get why you asked the question. Good luck and I hope you find the answers you are looking for.

ACV threads pop up several times a week and in the 3 years I have been on MFP I have yet to see anyone offer actual proof that it works for more than a couple of things, mostly topical. What is wrong with saving the OP a bunch of time?

The question was "Organic Apple Cider Vinegar . . .Myth or Legend?" The answer is myth.

Saving time and being honest is great, but a lot of responses on threads like these do have a condescending tone of "OMG, can you BELIEVE that someone is asking that AGAIN?", like they're offended or scornful that the topic has come up again. Of course there are going to be newbies asking the same questions again and again; they're new , looking for info, and have probably seen various internet articles promoting ACV (or grapefruit or no-sugar or whatever).

I only click on the ACV threads any more because sometimes there is food porn and sometimes there are really good recipes posted.

And I found out that ACV is really good for killing gnats.

    gnats or fruit flies?

It worked on the gnats too. I get gnats in Spring, fruit flies in Summer and tried it on both.

So there IS a purpose to all these ACV threads?

I often post either my hot bacon dressing recipe (for spinach salad) or my gr-grandma's cooked salad dressing (perfect for making potato and pasta salad as well as deviled eggs. Less fatty than mayo and MUCH better than miracle Whip)

Really, the only claim that is actually backed by studies and science is that it can somewhat lower blood glucose when eaten before a meal...similar to a glass of wine.

I've personally found it beneficial to ease cramping when a charlie horse comes on.

Work for what? There's a million sites out there touting it as the new and improved Dr. Smith's Snake Oil - Good for What Ails You. It has a lot of uses in food and cleaning, but it's just ... vinegar

Thats my question? Its being marketed for a ton of uses and I am asking for your experience, if any...
Marketing. Just like they did with hoodia, acai berry, raspberry ketones, green tea, etc. And in a few years, it will recycle again.
There are some health advantages for the above, but overall if your macro/micro nutrients are in check and you're not consuming more calories than you need to, then you should be just fine.

It lowers your blood glucose level so it is taken for that reason by many people with type 2 diabetes. Certain diabetes doctors recommend it.
