Why so much despise for bodybuilders

I read your post. That sucks. But it probably isn't the "norm." I don't think of bodybuilders in any negative way. The only thing that bothers me is when people lifting weights have to yell and slam down the weights. It's almost like they are hoping for attention. Grunting and breathing hard is one thing (I do that when I take a Zumba class, LOL) But yelling loud enough for the entire gym to take notice and then practically dropping the weight from hip level is just ridiculous.
Yeah, the slamming I never understand but the breathing during some hard work is understandable. I don't agree with everyone despising bodybuilders but planet fitness found a way to market their business by exploiting a group and it's not even bodybuilders they escorted a lady from their gym because people complained she was too fit and intimidating while she was on a treadmill.
I don't get it.
is that true? that seems so unlikely.0 -

And PF's response, that I didn't see in the article was that the top was not in compliance with their dress code.
I once got mildly reprimanded at a gym (not PF) for wearing a sleeveless vest which was apparently against the (unpublished) dress code. When I asked if they were going to have a word with the three ladies nearby on treadmills also wearing sleeveless vests I got the answer.....
"No - because women don't sweat."
Snort!!2 -
NO WAY!!!!! Another reason I would get banished from PF- I wear tank tops and sweat in a very unlady-like fashion. Like I need to mop up a puddle to avoid creating a slip-and-fall hazard.stanmann571 wrote: »cwolfman13 wrote: »jessiferrrb wrote: »Kevoofthehoradrim wrote: »Kevoofthehoradrim wrote: »

we have a no shirts off on the main floor rule.
And it makes me a little stabby b/c they let the girls do it and no one cares. But the big guys can't/aren't allowed because it's to intermediating (I think that's the reasoning). Side.Fricking.Eye.2 -
I was surfing "bodybuilder" definitions just now, and not every site has the same description of exactly what a bodybuilder is. I conclude that anybody who is working to increase muscle strength is body building.0

We do actually tend to sweat a lot less than males.
But still an annoying answer.0 -
At $10/mo though, I'd probably head over to Planet Fitness (if not a long wait for equipment) too if it didn't require driving out to the boonies (AKA suburbs).0

I'm sorry that you have been judged harshly. I have been going to PF for over a year and there are a couple of large/muscle men in there. They wear tank tops and do their workout, they don't throw weights or anything. I don't think anything of it, other than 'Wow, his muscles are huge' Lots wear tank tops. I wear thin tank tops almost daily and am never approached. I guess I'm lucky. *It's cheap and close to my house. It works for me and my goals. But not everyone is the same so I'm sure some do not have good customer service.
***I do think that they should change their slogan 'Non judgment zone' because I do chuckle when I see that written on the wall about the lunk and the characteristics. Because I find that judging.0 -

Incredibly off topic but when I worked in a department store and had not shaved for a few days, I was requested by the manager to go home at lunchtime and shave. Was half tempted to ask her if this rule applied to all workers as there was one female colleague who had quite thick and very very very noticeable facial hair above her upper lip but I thought it was best to say nothing.5 -

Quite possibly, though I'm sure the best of them (Efferding comes to mind) would set off the lunk alarm before even getting into a parking spot.0 -
