I Love Ice cream and I've heard that a brand called Halo Top is a "healthier" version. Has anyone tried it? What is the best flavor? Thanks!

It's amazing. I'm in love with the sea salt caramel. Also enlightened ice cream is another good one. The peanut butter chocolate chip was delicious!6

Hi!
I personally dislike the birthday cake flavor I like the sea salt caramel flavor and chocolate. Enlightened has good flavors as well the caramel oatmeal cookie crunch is pretty good. I also think it tasted amazing.1 -
It depends what "healthier" means to you...
I'd say lower calorie. Which doesn't mean healthier...8 -

One serving of the pint I have in the freezer right now is 60 calories, 2g fat, 2g fiber and 6g protein. You think that's "unhealthy"?12 -
I just tried Halo Top for the very first time last week. I love it!! I purchased the mint chip flavor and served it on top of a warm brownie. I don't often eat dessert, and it was sincerely fabulous! I will purchase it again, but only once in awhile because I can see where I might have difficulty moderating it lol3

It's made with things you are not able to digest. That's not food.5

I do agree it does have a more thicker texture a little FYI!2 -

I personally wouldn't call it healthy. The sugar alcohols give me all sorts of issues. I'd rather real icecream made with cream, sugar and eggs and all the calories.
It's a low calorie alternative that allows people to fit" icecream" in to their diet.5 -
I just can't get myself to pay that much $, I bought some frozen yogurt, the praline flavor is good & 100 cal, but sometime I just have ice cream for 160 cal. I don't have it too often2

Milk, cream, and eggs are the first three ingredients and the sugar alcohols do absolutely nothing to me. Just because one person's body reacts to it differently doesn't immediately mean it should be considered 'unhealthy' by everyone. But that's a decision everyone has to make for themselves.10 -

Which is why I said "it depends what healthier means to you".7 -
I looove ice cream! Halo top is so good. I've liked every kind I've tried. I've had the strawberry, chocolate, mint chip and most recently the birthday cake one. I like the birthday cake one the bestiest.2

I looooove halo top. I'm trying most of the flavors and so far I love almost all. Here's my take on the flavors:
1. Peanut butter cup - delicious and has peanut butter ripples, but there's no chocolate which I expected from the name.
2. Oatmeal cookie - delicious flavor but it has little oats in it which can be strange if you're not used to it.
3. Black cherry - not my favorite but it's fruity and good. It has little bits of cherry in it
4. Cookie dough - yummy but the cookie pieces are tiny and there's not a lot of them.
5. Red velvet - pretty good flavor and has little brownie bits, but as with cookie dough, the brownie bits are tiny and few.
6. Birthday cake - I love this flavor. It has little sprinkles in it.
7. Sea salt caramel - this is probably my favorite flavor.
8. Cookies and cream - probably my least favorite flavor. It's not a bad flavor per se, but cookies and cream usually means oreo and it tastes nothing like oreo.
As other people said, it has erythritol (sp?) which can be upsetting for some people's stomachs. For me, I can eat half a pint per day with no problems, and there's a GQ article about a guy who went on a Halo Top diet (nothing but 5 pints of halo top per day) and he seemed to survive well enough.7 -
I love it! Salted Carmel, Cookie Dough, Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, Birthday Cake, Peanut Butter ... wicked expensive though. I only buy it when it's on sale.
Another treat--try Icelandic Provisions Skyr Yogurt. the Vanilla is the Halo Top of yogurts.1 -

Prebiotics are perfectly healthy and just as necessary as probiotics.
If anything the sugar alcohols would be the unhealthy part of Halo Top.
