Evening walk and terrible people

He is a jerk. Do not be discouraged. Keep walking. You are doing this for you. Do not waste a second thinking or caring about some random persons opinion of you.1
-
Just turn up your music and KEEP on walking girl! Don't let people like that ruin your shine!2
-
I'm so very sorry this happened to you. Hold your head up high and know that you're improving yourself with every step you take. People that need to do things like that really are awful people. You continue doing what makes you happy regardless of what those idiots have to say!1
-
You walk. If you want, I'll drive up from Florida and walk with you.13
-
I think he meant phat not fat. At least that's how I would take it. Keep walking.8
-
F*** them. You can lose weight but they'll still be assh*les.9
-
I hope today's walk goes better. With every step you get stronger. With every step you're getting healthier. What are they improving on themselves by shouting at random people they don't know? Nothing. Walk again today, like you plan. Hold your head high knowing there is a group of people from all across the globe who have your back, cheering you on much louder than that jerk! We can outshout that random jerk any day of the week.7

You guys are so wonderful. Thank you all so much!11
-
I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm really proud you went back out again after this happened.
This has happened to me before. I changed my walking route for a while. Then, I decided to think of them as a test. If I could keep going after that, then I knew I would accomplish my goals.
I wish you the best.3 -
I'm sorry to hear that!
Try to just think of them as stupid people who don't matter, and whose opinions don't matter.
If it makes you feel better, my husband and I were screamed at yesterday as we walked home from the bus. The person just screamed "AHHHHHHH!!!" to make us jump. All it means is there's one more stupid person I didn't know about until then. I know it's not the same, but... well... in the end maybe all screaming can just be screaming and not worth your time to think about!!1 -

That ^^ right there? is the best part of this post. *kitten* happen. You just have to figure out how best to live your life in the face of that fact. So glad you are going to get back out there.0 -

You are all kinds of awesome! Keep on going!1 -
Well done for getting back out there and not letting it derail you. I also vote for iPod/music/headphones. Sometimes when I'm running I wear the headphones even when I don't have my music turned up as I think it deters idiots from trying to get your attention.
Good luck on your journey!

Hurray for you!! That's awesome0 -
Absolutely disgusting behaviour, be yourself and don't let this get you down. Keep on walking and be proud0
-
This gets me so mad-- haters gonna hate, but I am so sorry that someone's ugliness and self-hatred was directed at you. As others have stated, this has everything to do with them and nothing to do with you. I am so glad that you are going to walk again tonight. Please imagine all of us on this thread walking right alongside you!0

Probably just stupid teenagers (not saying that they are all stupid, just the ones in this scenario). They are self-absorbed and more interested in showing off for one another. It's not about you. It's them.0

I must have thick skin, I soooo don't care a bit what people think of me. I care what I think of me, and what my family and friends think of me, but random trash on the street? Nope.
Some people are just d!cks. A few weeks ago I was riding my horse along the side of the road and a car load of idiots went past with one of them hanging his bare *kitten* out the window and the other two yelling abuse and beeping their horn. Lucky my horse is quiet.0 -
Hon you have a fantastic smile!! You just keep smiling and walking.0
-
Next time just give them the finger.2
-
I love that you kept on walking! You are a badass0
-
You are better than they are.
Walk tall and share your wonderful self with the world.0 -
People are trash. {{{hugs}}}0
-
*hugs* they're asshats.
I was jogging past a skate park once and some kid with all his mates there yelled "lose some weight, fatty!" I stopped, looked him dead in the eye and said "what the f**k does it look like I'm doing, captain obvious? Got any other life changing advice?" His mates cracked up and started giving him hell. Very satisfying moment.15 -
Just keep in mind that you're getting thinner and fitter, but that person will always be an *kitten*.0
-
The same person will harass a young girl, or make stupid jokes at a disabled person or someone with glasses and so on. It is not your problem he is an idiot. Do not let idiots run your life.2
-
Funny thing is, most of the people on MFP have been in your shoes at some point. In college I was on the parking deck and I had a group of beautiful girls drive by me and yell "Get out of the way you fat *fillintheblank*." Seriously, I felt so belittled at that moment because all of my insecurities were on display for everyone in the parking deck to see. I use these memories as a reminder of who I was. I love seeing overweight people doing yard work, going for walks, riding their bikes! Everyone should. Because it means they are working on improving their health, as we all should be, regardless of our size.2

Another music person here. I pop in my earbuds, set my phone on Pandora and stream oldies as I walk. Nobody can touch you when you're listening to James Brown and Aretha Franklin - R E S P E C T!

I have been called an elephant atleast 3 times while I was jogging! I cried. I cursed. I almost had a meltdown-in public but i still run and always plan to!!! So chin up girl!!! You've got this and remember you are doing this for you!! Best of luck!1

For the world is dark and full of *kitten*.
I don't get the drive to be actively, deliberately malicious to other people. I get slips and accidents and people not fully comprehending how offensive they are being (as maddening as it may be), but active assholery... it's truly disappointing.
"Hell is other people." It's true.
Steady on, friend. Don't let some idiot stop you from attaining your goals or just living your life the way you choose to.6
