Success / struggles of the week: had a big family gathering, with way too much food that we cooked, had to have a little bit ( that's the success part!) of most things, and (oh, what a surprise! ) saw the numbers on the scale jump. So working on getting it to go down, to my new normal. Had a nice bike ride yesterday and went to play hockey today. Looks better already, and i feel better too. Overeating isn't fun. Someone said to me, that nothing tastes as good as thin feels, guess it's a fair statement. To me, at least. I wish there were a little less family celebrations, i have extensive in-law part of family, so it's always either someone's birthday, or some holiday, and it's always about food and in way overboard quantities. I enjoy getting together, just wish that it wasn't centered on food. Enough complaints, i guess. Actually, truth is, no one forces me to eat. It's just hard to say no to certain things when it's in front of me. I limit quantities, but sometimes go over anyway. I find it somewhat stressful too, i know ahead of time that i will have some difficulties and it's stressing me out having too much temptations that are food related.4 -

Not bad after a weekend away. I was hoping to be about 153 or less now because we are leaving on a "big trip" next week and wanted to leave with a little cushion. It seems like I've had a lot of fluctuation this month. I think the mirror is more friendly than the scales right now.

Success/struggles of the week: I have just come off a two week vacation. I had a plan in place to keep my weight off. I was going to bring my scale. I packed my protein bars for the two weeks. I planned to log and eat full maintenance calories. I forgot the scale when we left, but still tried to commit to regular logging even though I had no idea of my weight. It lasted about 3-4 days, and I was not very disciplined throughout the rest of the vacation. I came back quite a bit over my maintenance range but very quickly lost most of the water weight. I gained a little over 10 lbs and lost 6 in the first 5-6 days. I am still about 3-4 lbs over my bottom weight, but within my range of 165-170. I don't like that I am at the top of my range because I tend to go over the range on the weekends as I am less disciplined on then and also take a break from cardio on the weekends. Thursday is my weigh in day and I am down slightly from last week and snuck in under the top. I am going to continue to work slowly at getting to the bottom of my weight range.
Have a great week fellow maintainers!6 -

How long in maintenance: 10.5 months
Maintenance weight range: 137 - 142lbs (aiming to lower this a little over time so that 140 is my max)
Average weight recorded for January: 141.9lbs
Average weight recorded for February: 141.2lbs

26th May: 139.2lbs - Hooray!!
Successes of the week: I've done well this week - and, psychologically, I'm very happy to be back under the 140lb barrier. Particular successes this week - managing to hit my protein target every day (which I usually find difficult) and fitting in a second longer (10k) run again. The weather has warmed up nicely in the last few days, so I'm looking forward to making a regular habit of long sunny runs over the coming months.5 -

Success/struggles of the week: Doing some emotional eating but will do my best to get back to normal this next week. Going through some stuff but don't want to use food for comfort more than a few days. It's time to do the best I can despite what's going on around me. I can't control many things in life but I can control my reaction to it.4 -

29 May (2 June):
Successes/challenges of this week:
Successes:
- Accomplished two races back to back on the weekend. First time I've ever done that. About 5.3 race miles total (was supposed to be 6.85 miles, but both races were shortened - Saturday due to brutal gulf conditions and Sunday due to so many of us competing on Sat the race director had some compassion).
- Had one of my highest calorie burns ever last week (almost double my normal goal for the week).
- Currently tied for 12th out of 30 for 50+yo Female, 12'6" SUP racers in Florida. Happy to be in the top 1/2, but goal for the year is to break into the top 10 - would need a third place finish in my next race in two weeks to do it.
Challenges:
- Only placed 4th in both races, and I should have done better on my times. Need to practice more in open water (currently, I predominately paddle flat waters). Was a little worn out for the race on Sunday, so my times suffered a bit. Probably going to sign up for a series of racing clinics to get better.
- Major DOMS earlier this week with some major water retention throughout the week...water is just starting to drop off (sadly not in time for my weigh in today). Was hoping to break below 120's today, but just not happening yet.
- Major slug this weekend for working out and keeping food in check. Also feel a bit like I'm fighting off a bug or allergies, which reduces my resolve to stay on track (I get a bit of an eff-it attitude when I'm not feeling great).
Hope everyone has a blessed Memorial Day Weekend if you are in the US. Remember all gave some, but some gave all. Remembering our military brothers and sisters who are no longer with us and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.2 -

Erm apart from the new exercise routine that I've been doing this week there isn't a change. This weight could be water weight, I dunno. I hope it is because I actually look better in the mirror, it seems the abs workout is helping.3 -
The June thread is up. We're half way though the year all ready. Hope to see you all there.5

Success/struggles of the week: I planned a cheat day for Saturday for my sister’s engagement party and there was beer and gourmet doughnuts. I actually felt very good about it because I knew that the next day I would be eating very healthy again and that one red velvet doughnut wasn’t going to make me gain 50 pounds back. I feel like even six months ago, I wouldn’t have been able to do that with out having a guilt freak out. I wore a size 6 dress and all my elderly relatives were telling me how good I looked. And also asking if I was married yet. It was honestly more of a struggle at times.3 -

Success/struggles for the week:
Struggles: fighting the hungry horrors a couple of evenings which hasn't happened in quite some time. I gave in and moved on. A few too many high sodium meals last week which caused me to gain which was disheartening, I hate to see a gain although, I know it is normal. I forged ahead.
Successes: lost a whole pound! Lowest weight in decades! Chose seltzer water over wine at social gatherings. Doing happy dance and burning more calories!4 -

It was a holiday weekend plus my husband's birthday, and I was under range the last two weeks and now I am back in range. My trendweight is 124.8 so I am still about where I was last week and not really gaining. I think for the June thread I will start tracking both actual and trendweight. Thanks @fidangul for setting that up. I'll see you all there!3 -

My May Report
Gender: Male
Age: 66
Height: 5'8"

Time it took to lose: 6 months; May 15-Dec 9 2016
How long in maintenance: 6.5 months; Dec 9 2016 - May 28 2017
Maintenance WT range goal: 155-160
CPD Goal (TDEE)=1900; CPD=Calories per day
Average WT/CPD in December: 159.7/1915
Average WT/CPD in January: 159.8/1854
Average WT/CPD in February: 158.7/1835
Average WT/CPD in March: 158.6/1847
Average WT/CPD in April: 158.5/1924
Average WT/CPD in May (to date): 157.9/1909
May WT range (min/max) to date: 155.9-160.1
May CPD range (min/max) to date: 1470-2523
7-Day Weekly Average WT/CPD as of:
May 1: 159.2/1752
May 8: 158.4/1985
May 15: 158.7/1846
May 22: 157.3/1765
May 28: 157.0/2036
Comments:
Added my CPD intake figures to my report to compare them w/the WT measurements to note any apparent relationship between them.
I have been at or below my CPD Goal every month but I lost about 2# over that time period which suggests that the CPD Goal may be a bit low but not enough IMO to raise it yet. I prefer a downward over an upward trend but if my ave weight drops to 155, I will probably raise my CPD Goal to 2000 to bring the weight back up at that time.
Went on a 5 day wine tasting trip to Mendocino County in CA. Brought my bathroom scale with me and continued to weigh myself and log all of my food daily on MFP during the trip.
Was worried that I would gain weight as a result of the trip but, although my CPD increased to an ave of 1981 CPD during the trip (mainly due to lack of any exercise cal burn), my weight did not increase but actually dropped, probably due to decreased CPD intake the week before.
My weight may rise slightly this week but do not expect any significant change, despite the increased CPD and lack of exercise last week during the trip. Going back to my current exercise routine starting today.3 -

22nd May: 156.7
29th May: 152.8*i weighed myself at a different time than I usually do, so this number is not highly accurate. Trend weight is 155.2
Success/struggles of the week:
Struggle: I've had a number of social engagements recently and a few more to come. Those are the toughest for me because I definitely experience FOMO, so it requires a lot of concentration. I did dinner/movie/shopping with a girlfriend for her birthday and high tea with my family this weekend. Even though I planned ahead and was able to exercise restraint, these types of activities are going to be a challenge for me moving forward.
Success: I didn't blow my numbers and still did some fun stuff this weekend. I also designed a fitness plan for my mother, which really did something for both of our confidence3 -

I won't be checking in for a few weeks as I'm headed to Switzerland later this week to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. 3 years ago I could not walk up my own driveway without several stops. Now I'm going hiking in the Alps! How cool is that? Doing fun things with my hubby has been one of my main motivations to undertake this journey and stay committed.
I had hoped to be around 153 to start this adventure, but it will be fine. If I gain, I'll just have to buckle down when I get back. Swiss chocolate and cheese will not be easy on the calories!
