You're no longer in starvation mode so your body is now using all the food so much more efficiently and is making the fat just melt off.
You new diet is composed of more protein and less carbs so you've gone into keto and are burning fat at a miraculous rate.
You've built substantial muscle over the 3 days, and we all know muscle weighs more than fat.
Your aunt has stopped putting butter in your coffee.
Your female and therefore just plain weird. I don't know what TOM is but that must be the answer. Or your pregnant.
You ate fast food. Fast means not eating. So your body couldn't absorb any calories from the fast food.
Something about how your hormones are reacting that means CICO is wrong.
Yup. That's all I got.
You also forgot that, wrapping induced spot reducing. So that's why you can look more toned over night.
hahaha, thanks for this - I'm laughing so hard.
OP, I'm considering a diet break too. I lose the most weight on Saturday because I have drinks and a higher calorie meal on Friday night. Bodies are weird.
If you're having drinks that can dehydrate you so could be why you weigh less the next morning even with higher calorie food. I love checking the scale the next morning after a night out of drinks
You're right, but that weight holds true the next day, and the day after that, and the day after that, and the day after that.0 -
Although to be fair lately her rants havent been about me not losing fat, In my profile pic you can definatly see iv lost alot of my fat and im looking very thin XD Now she goes on the rants about macro science and how fake sugars clog your arteries and how walking to much actually halts weight loss because your getting to much sun (seriously)2

why would i do a cleanse? their unnecessary. Im not a newbie here iv lost 100 pounds in the past year this is the final 2 weeks of my year i figured itd be worth finally doing the diet break im told is so helpful especially when getting leaner lol
I think @RuNaRoUnDaFiEld was joking...
Oh...touchy topic for me today my bad LOL just got in an arguement with my aunt yesterday that eating more is stupid and for a diet break to work id need to do a juice cleanse ...doesnt really soudn liek a diet break to me. Sorry i am jumpy XD Thought they seriously thought i was someone who does that lol
How do you not just look at her, after she's spewed her opinion, and laugh hysterically? I'd have a hard time having a serious conversation with someone like that.
When people on my FB list spew derp and woo all over their walls, I'm so grateful they can't actually see me giggling hysterically.3 -

My body seems to react weird this isnt the first time iv gained no weight after overeating....Serious question is it possible im semi immune to water weight gains from salt? Over the 3 cheat days iv had where i significantly overeat (as in burn as much as possible all week and eat less to completely stuff my face with ALL the yummy food and snacks cheat days) Each time i actually lost weight and never saw a jump on the scale from water weight or the weight of the huge amounts of yumminess. I always expect it im realizing right now it never comes lol0 -

Guys i think im a diet god. Seriously. Iv made it thru my aunt, I dont seem to gain weight....Even with all thje buttered coffees and artery clogging diet pop. And aparently the sun feeding my body calories because i walk to much.
I AM GOD O.O
For real tho wtf makes me not put on the sodium weight is beyond me and im a logic person it bothers me not knowing. Be cool to see what happens at the end of the 2 weeks of force feeding self lol4 -
And tune in for the next episode, will @JaydedMiss gain 5lbs sodium weight?
Will the Aunt get a sock put in it?
Will the sun fail to shine?7 -

I actually hope to gain some weight im struggling to eat over 1700 calories so to get the benefit of a diet break im supposed o be eating maintenance (2100-2700?) so weight gain will mean im likely eating enough for it to be worth it xD Plus itl make my logic mind stfu because it will make sense lol1 -

Serious salt answer: If you you habitually consume over 3K mg sodium daily, an occasional 5k mg sodium day is imperceptible on the daily weight chart.1 -

Still serious: If your higher salt intake earlier in the day is followed by a higher water intake, you simply flush away the excess sodium and avoid the retained water.0 -

Im struggling, Do you plan to add fast food and cookeis and stuff? im finding i have to to hit even 1800 calories and im spposed to be eating maintenance which fitbit says is 2600 so even if it was off by 750 im still undereating even with chocolate goodness XD Kinda just decided to pack in all the nutrients i can for 2 weeks with snacks and not w worry to much about hitting 2400 i want the benefits of a break but am also unwilling to feel sick from to much food XD0 -
I also have some weird science going on.
First, I fix 90% of my meals from home. I weigh and log everything to the gram (except some low-cal vegetables, where I guesstimate) - I am in the middle of my healthy BMI. I went to maintenance again after losing ten pounds last summer. Maintenance for me is supposed to be 1500. In the six months since I went on maintenance, I have eaten on average 3300 extra calories per week. Not just occasionally, every single week. Some weeks were 6000 calories over. I'd link my Excel sheet here, but there are lots of personal quips in it - you know, basically yelling at myself for not being able to stay anywhere close to my calorie goal. I have not gained or lost a pound. It doesn't make sense.
I will claim goddess status along with you.6 -

high five for goddesses. We will rule these forums together making people hate us for our godly weight maintenance skills2 -
I guess I am Intuitive Eating. While weighing and logging, planning meals, etc. I think I've missed the point of Intuitive Eating.1
-
Weirder still. I lost 70ish pounds in 2007-08. When I went to maintenance that time, I gained on very little over my maintenance-projected calories. So I wonder if it has something to to with having been in long-term maintenance (nearly ten years.)1

i timed it to start the same day as i'm headed to NYC for vacation, so, i expect there will be pizza, pasta, bagels, indian food and alcohol. i figured there will also be a ton of walking so that i won't feel too bad psychologically about the first 5 days. when i get home i don't know how it will go but i'm going to try to use the extra calories to really focus on my strength training. sometimes i struggle progressing on a deficit. i'm not a huge fast food eater but i am looking forward to more volume.
my gross calories are happiest right around 2,000 (net about 1300-1500). have you been trying to just match your fitbit? i don't have any intentions of slowing my fitness routine in any way and i'm wondering how hard it's going to be to eat back at least 50% of those calories.1 -
I've read of this a lot round here. I'm pretty jealous. I'm still waiting for my ore-holiday whoosh that never materialised. I started eating at maintenance the week before I left and as happens every time I eat a day or week at maintenance my weight literally stops dead where it was the day I start that break.
I fully expect to get home having gained as I have definitely eaten over maintenance despite doing a lot more walking than I would normally. Not logging. Will see what happens when I get home next week and the following couple of weeks.
I am not bitter about this at all but I'll be in the corner chugging coconut oil for its miraculous fat burning properties.3 -
Nah my math puts me at 2250 TDEE but i know i have a tendency to hugely overestimate certain foods which i ate alot durign that calculation period so im guessing its closer to 2400-2500 XD id never match fitbit struggling at even 1800 lol. Just practicing maintenance and i figured after a year itd be good on my body to restore any deficiencies (i dont think i have any im careful but 100 pounds in a year tells me its possible XD ) And maybe restore any wonky hormones before going into 2nd year on may 7 :P just wanna make sure i eat enough to actually gain the benefits0

Eating significantly more. Normally get in 1200-1500 and iv been eating 2200-2400 (my fitbit says i burn 2500-2700 but i dont believe it not sure why i dont just anxious to eat so much i guess-not in a overly dissordered way its just been a long time)
Needlesss to say thats a large calorie jump of nearly 1000, Which is alot for someone whose eaten 1200-1500 for a year.
Now its only been 3 days but...my weight range went down 3-5 pounds when iv been expecting a water weight gain o_O My body looks alot slimmer and "toned" (i dont have much muscle but it just looks lean and toned) suddenly and the scales down? From eating more?
Im in no way concerned or anything im just a very knowledge based person and its kind of driving me insane i cant figure out why my body reacts this way, Im fully expecting to add on water weight (still am in a few more days maybe?) But im just really curious why i lost weight, Even with so much more food in my stomach. So much food im actually having to add in chocolate and fast food just to get the calorie counts up. I struggle to eat past 1700 so this has been a weird experience for me any thoughts on why i slimmed up appreciated
Why were you carrying a 1000 calorie deficit for a year? 2 lbs per week is appropriate for 75+ lbs to lose, but is far too aggressive for less than that.1 -

Not the issue at hand but im just a really active person theres nothing wrong with a 900-1000 calorie deficit when your really active and still eating plenty of nutrient dense foods0 -
Also i lost 100 pounds, I did have over 75 to lose and im still just now hitting the high end of a healthy BMI. Dont worry im healthy0

Probably not exactly true (although, it's hard to exactly know with metabolic testing throughout the process), unless you are following some of the protocols from people like Lyle McDonald. Its possible that is why you are seeing some rebouding of your metabolic rate and weight loss.
Adaptive Thermogenesis is a real thing, and prolonged periods of large deficits can increase that; there can also be corresponding decreases in TEF, TEA and NEAT from lower intakes. Heck, I have seen much more consistent weight loss at 2300 to 2500 calories than I ever did at 1800.4
