You're no longer in starvation mode so your body is now using all the food so much more efficiently and is making the fat just melt off.
Your aunt has stopped putting butter in your coffee.
Your female and therefore just plain weird. I don't know what TOM is but that must be the answer. Or your pregnant.
Something about how your hormones are reacting that means CICO is wrong. What's interesting, you are experiencing something that occurs often when people move into bulks.
@Tacklewasher I had to repeat at least those four from your list... because 2 of them I just plain like (and butter in coffee plus female, especially together, can account for a LOT of issues in life!), and two of them are (possibly) closer to reality than you may be willing to accept.
To add to what @psuLemon and @jemhh mention, during the initial stages of recovery from anorexia people often go through a period of hypermetabolism.
To add to @Tacklewasher's observations, there is a lot of activity associated with hormones and changes in hormonal balance can affect us without violating the laws of thermodynamics. We are not closed systems and our calories out values are dynamic and not solely dependent on the number of steps we take.
Last but not least... re-feeding syndrome is a concern even for (formerly) overweight people.1 -

Eating significantly more. Normally get in 1200-1500 and iv been eating 2200-2400 (my fitbit says i burn 2500-2700 but i dont believe it not sure why i dont just anxious to eat so much i guess-not in a overly dissordered way its just been a long time)
Needlesss to say thats a large calorie jump of nearly 1000, Which is alot for someone whose eaten 1200-1500 for a year.
Now its only been 3 days but...my weight range went down 3-5 pounds when iv been expecting a water weight gain o_O My body looks alot slimmer and "toned" (i dont have much muscle but it just looks lean and toned) suddenly and the scales down? From eating more?
Im in no way concerned or anything im just a very knowledge based person and its kind of driving me insane i cant figure out why my body reacts this way, Im fully expecting to add on water weight (still am in a few more days maybe?) But im just really curious why i lost weight, Even with so much more food in my stomach. So much food im actually having to add in chocolate and fast food just to get the calorie counts up. I struggle to eat past 1700 so this has been a weird experience for me any thoughts on why i slimmed up appreciated
Why were you carrying a 1000 calorie deficit for a year? 2 lbs per week is appropriate for 75+ lbs to lose, but is far too aggressive for less than that.
Not the issue at hand but im just a really active person theres nothing wrong with a 900-1000 calorie deficit when your really active and still eating plenty of nutrient dense foods
Probably not exactly true (although, it's hard to exactly know with metabolic testing throughout the process), unless you are following some of the protocols from people like Lyle McDonald. Its possible that is why you are seeing some rebouding of your metabolic rate and weight loss.
Adaptive Thermogenesis is a real thing, and prolonged periods of large deficits can increase that; there can also be corresponding decreases in TEF, TEA and NEAT from lower intakes. Heck, I have seen much more consistent weight loss at 2300 to 2500 calories than I ever did at 1800.
Not taking a diet break because im tired or hungry or worn out or weight loss slowed or anything im doing it because i want to practice maintenance, I hear their good for you. Were on the same side of this "arguement" XD1 -

Oh I know we are on the same side as an argument, but to point out, your body doesn't always feel worn out or tired. It can down regulate metabolism without any signs. I never noticed it either. But I "fell" for the eat more to lose more, and ironically it worked well.
Metabolism is a very interesting thing and there are a lot of variables that can drive the speed of weight loss and gain.
Also, to expand on what @PAV8888 mentioned. In many overfeed studies, they notice a similar thing. And uptick in metabolism to respond to the additional calories. Often similar to what you would experience during an injury.3 -
I know you don't care about this discussion but 2lbs a week was healthy when you had 100lbs to lose. Not so much when you got to 50 and 25. It's not about how active you are but how much fat your body can metabolise and plain old energy to sustain all bodily functions at a healthy level. Hence AT and your apparent rebounding hyper metabolism.
You indeed have been here some time and it is pretty puzzling you advocate for the sustained aggressive deficit you've had. I can only hope when you finish your diet break you go for a smaller deficit which may have the bonus effect of preparing you for eating more at maintenance as that is causing you a lot of anxiety at the moment.
And I'd just be eating pizza and baked potatoes with cheese and cheese and cheese and cheese to hit my calorie goal. Because cheese.
And I've said my peace, no more about it!5 -
Lol, I was fantasizing about cheese also.0
