June 24 is my color run goal! Im at one mile currently but with my spiffy new running shoes on the way hopefully my shins won't hurt so much and I'll be off and running (pun intended) My hubby is not being supportive and does not think I can do it so this group really helps me keep going. Hopefully I can loose some weight along the way as well and then I can start feeling better about myself and get off some depression meds12

I'm going to set a goal for 50 miles in May. I set my goal for 40 in April and so far I am at 47.5 so I think I can up my goal from last month. I am a little worried about the heat, but I am going to be optimistic because I don't want to stop running for the summer. I finally signed up for my first official 5K and it is on May 6th and I am planning to sign up for more. My biggest problem is that I live way out in the sticks and there aren't a lot of 5Ks in town so I will probably have to travel if I want to do more than 3 per year.7

I am working on base building and trying to add a day to my run week, going from 3-4 days per week. I am going to set a conservative goal of 50 miles for May since my runs will be a little shorter until I get used to the extra day then I can add more miles.7
-
Last month my goal was 100 miles. I have a 10 mile run scheduled on Sunday so my actual mileage for April will be 135. I want to set myself a more ambitious goal, HOWEVER, it is about to get hotter than the seventh level of hell here in Central Texas. So....
May's Goal = 125 miles6 -
I'm in for 65 this month. Barely made 60 in April, so hope May will be better.4

I am IN again. Im going to complete my april goal of 50 miles, and probably surpass it, and I would have got 60 in at least except that damn side ache ruined me, ugh, so my goal for May I will set at 65 miles.5

170 km estimate. I haven't got it all laid out yet but this will be the start of my Mountain HM Training cycle and also have a few un-official events. One local event that I will be volunteering at again, working with the timing group. We are such a small community that we can't afford the cost of Chip timing so we have an old clock that was surplused after the Calgary Olympics back in 1988, volunteers with neat hand writing and a motion trigger game trail camera for a finish line photo with the clock framed at the side ( if they run in on the Big Yellow Line indicating the best position for a photo). It might not give you instant results like Chip Timing but its the best cost/compromise.8

@juliet3455 I'd rather like having a photo showing me finishing with the time behind me anyway!!2

I've got 121 miles planned leading up to my half marathon on 5/27. I'll likely get in more miles in the remaining four days after, but leaving my goal at 120 miles leaves me a little bit of a buffer if I need it, so 120 miles it is.5

This sounds like just the thing to get me back into a routine! I'm shooting for 80 miles.7

Welcome. It's a great group of people here. If you have any running questions, there are some amazingly experienced runners on here. They've taught me a lot.0 -
I am new here (running board) but will be running a few 5 k1's and roped into a half marathon in November. I know I can do this since I ran in high school in 1975. I am going for fifty miles since I am at the end of C25K and may take the 10K part of it.6

I was going to only put in for 250km this month because Banff is 06/17 and I have to reign myself in in the latter part of May in light of that. But I was just promised the time to do my 50k training run next weekend by my husband so I'll put in for 300km again.
Also I have a CDR friend suggesting I run the mountain madness HM in GC on 05/28....contemplating how stupid that is on my part if I do it lol7 -
@JessicaMcB My last 18 mile training run for my 6/17 Marathon is on 05/28, so i would say that, if you don't go all out you might be ok.... oh course with a race name like Mountain Madness I guess all bets are off?
Oh, and I'm still in awe of you run long a 50k training run for a 42k race.... I'm jealous, I know I couldn't run that far.0 -
I feel like @juliet3455 will probably have good input on Mountain Madness since it's in GC but it's supposed to be a rough trail race @MNLittleFinn. But running...lol0

In for 50 miles again. I have planned 2 half marathons this month. So will have 2 tapering weeks.4
-
In for 150 miles again, I got my HM on the first day, but not certain if I will take it a little easier after that ... I am a lazy git5

100miles/160kms for me4
-
After another unwanted break from running I'm back on it this month. My goal is to just run 5 times a week, not bothered about distance4
-
My first running challenge! My goal is 50 miles. I usually run 5 times a week, a little over a 5K each time. Hopefully, if I have to unexpectedly miss a day here and there, I'll still make the 50 mile mark!6
-
@SweetSassyJen welcome to the monthly running challenge. This is a great place for us new runners. The experienced folks are great and always willing to answer questions.1
-
I'm aiming for 40 miles!3
-
First time here, and will aim for 50 miles. I live in a very hilly, high altitude area so will be happy to achieve 50 as a new runner!5
-
@MNLittleFinn - thanks! I have a good feeling too even though it will be a crazy busy month - as will June and July!
@iofred - lazy is the last thing you are when it comes to exercise!
@judithanne013 - Lots of us (me!) started with C25K. I did it in 2014 and became quite addicted. Welcome!
I love it when the 1st falls on a running day for me! Yay tomorrow!

Need shoe help!
Running shoe question... It took me forever to find a running shoe that I was comfortable in. I have old lady feet: a really narrow heel and a bunion (so I need a wide toe box). I finally found a pair that works when coupled with a nifty "heel slip" lacing technique someone showed me.
I have been wearing New Balance 880v6. I am on my forth pair with 450 miles on them and they are now discontinued. New Balance has a 880v7 but I don't know how it's different? I am about to bite the bullet and order a pair. Do the shoe companies usually drastically change the shoe between versions?0
