These were two sources that i read about boosting metabolism. I am not entirely sure if accurate lol. Also it clears both #1 and #2 completely you will have to go but not in a bad way like the runs or something. It will just remove excess sludge in the colon. Sorry if thats TMI.
There is no excess sludge in your colon. Otherwise you would be in the hospital.
Then why do we have to do a colon cleanse before a colonoscopy?
We have a colonoscopy cleanse so the Dr. can actually see the wall of the colon without bits of food particles getting
in the way of a potential problem. If you don't do the cleanse right, you get rescheduled and sent home to do it again.
There is a difference between the normal fecal matter which usually passes through the system within 24 hours and "excess sludge" which proponents of cleanses say is there, and has been there for weeks.
A pre-colonoscopy cleanse gets rid of the normal fecal matter. There is no " sludge" unless a person has been constipated. It is constantly there because the food you eat that takes about 24 hours (more or less depending on the person) to get digested, the nutrients removed, and the waste processed for elimination. The liquid that leaves your body the night before is the liquid food you ate (typically last 2 days before the test) and some additional water drawn from your tissues.
If you really had a bunch of sludge, you would lose much more than the average 3-4 lb during a pre-colonoscopy cleanse. That is usually half food waste and half fluids drawn from tissues. 1-2 lb of undigested food and waste from digested food is not much at all.
It actually takes longer than 24 hrs,

which is why there is indeed 'stuff' (fecal matter, sludge, whatever you want to call it) always in your colon. I'm not suggesting we need to remove this, or that simply drinking water in the morning will remove it. I'm just saying it's there.
But it's not excess.1 -

Because they need to see the inside of the colon. That has nothing to do with "excess sludge". No need for reaching .1 -

Nobody is saying it isn't there. It is normal, gets removed regularly, and is not excess.4 -

Informative though the last few posts have been, all this detailed talk about faecal sludge has somehow put me off my chocolate snacks

Don't worry, fudge isn't really made around the corner from lemonade.2 -

I believe that's more of a fast and flush than what is commonly sold as a "cleanse".
And it's mostly because the doctor doesn't want to get hit in the face during the procedure.
My doc referred to it as a colon cleanse. But my point was if there wasn't stuff in there, we wouldn't need such a drastic cleanse.
Yes, there's stuff in there, because you ate yesterday... and the doctor doesn't want it in his eye.
Actually, no. Liquids only before the cleanse, and trust me, more comes out than usual even after the fast. And I'm very regular.
Yep, i lose a couple of kgs after doing one of those colonoscopy preps. I'd say a major part of that could be water/fluid "expulsion", not 100% sure on the exact mechanics.0
