Unless you're obese or willing to starve, that's TOO AMBITIOUS a goal. That's 10lbs a month or 2.5lbs a week. So a calorie deficit of over a 1000 a day and if one has a TDEE of less than 2200, that's NOT alot of calories to consume. But hey, that's up to you.

I agree. It took me over a year to lose 30 lbs. I worked with a certified personal trainer and health coach and I have been able to keep off the weight because I lost it slowly. The average realistic weight loss is between .5 to 1 lbs per week. I have yo-yo'd my entire life and at 45 years old, this is the first time in my life that I feel at my peak with my health, nutrition and weight. I am all about supporting others on here, but I speak from personal experience. I lost 40 lbs quickly in my 30s but gained it all back and more. As others have mentioned, if you deprive your body of calories, your body will rebel with health issues. Just be safe and healthy! Slow and steady wins the race.6 -

You know, not everyone is the same. Not everybody yoyos. Personally, I've only tried to lose weight one other time in my life 14 years ago. It worked and then I got pregnant and stopped watching what I ate. I was fully aware of what I was doing. Now this year in April I decided to change my eating habits for good. I'm down 33 lbs and now the loss is slowing down. Some weeks I lose 2 some weeks I lose 3. I'm not starving myself and I'm not constant hungry. I eat between 1250-1400 net carbs a day. I'm comfortable there for now. I don't forsee yo yo'ing because that has never been me. I'm not addicted to sweets. Even when I wasn't watching what I ate that wasn't my thing. So if some of you yo yo or have a sweet tooth just remember we're not all the same. And we dont all maintain or lose the same.1

Im in. I need to get this weight off. ASAP. I'll do my best to keep up. I think some accountability to a group would help.
Why ASAP? How long did it take you to gain the weight? In order to gain a pound, you have to overeat by ~3500 calories. You have to create that same deficit in order to lose. It likely will not happen as quickly as you want it to if you do it in a sustainable manner. It is risky to approach weight loss with "asap" unless you have a medical reason and are under a doctor's care.2 -

Eating 1000 cals and not eating exercise cals is netting well under a healthy amount and should not be done, point blank.
Seeing as you don't know how many calories I eat or my exercise habits maybe you should hear that you're making false assumptions and should back off. I would understand if one person made a comment that they're worried it's unhealthy. But not knowing the details makes it hard for anyone to back that up

These threads all go the same way. Someone puts up a bad idea. Some people say they're in. Some caring and knowledgeable individuals identify that it is a bad idea and explain why. They are then attacked for being negative and "snarky" when they cared enough speak up.
For those that think losing 30lbs in 90 days is a great idea. Have at it. Just don't come back whining when all the negative outcomes you've been warned about happen. You are on your own.
Hopefully, the folks who posted the info and warnings kept at least one reasonable person from doing this.22 -

You are not going to manage to hit that goal unless you are exceptionally dedicated as well as very fat.
Even then you will need to diet and exercise with probably 90% precision every day, or be in a controlled environment.
The threat to your muscle mass and health is real, especially if you are not very fat and getting enough protein. Period.
Don't get me started on how you are unlikely to be lifting heavy enough to preserve muscle.
Is such a goal at all probable? I doubt it.
If you already had that sort of discipline then why are you that fat in the first place?

Me being merely "snarky" is about the best you can hope for.
I don't care if you think you can do it in spite of all of the evidence to the contrary.
Prove it.
Show me the body fat numbers, blood work, etc. before and after. THEN we can talk.
What you want to be true is irrelevant. You are no longer a child.
People with experience and expertise are giving it to you straight but you are choosing to ignore them and set yourself up for failure and disappointment instead.
People being "supportive" are not helping you.13 -

I was going to go into that in reference to the muscle loss and decrease in BMR but I got the impression it was not worth it.
"I still had muscle" is not the same as "I did not lose any muscle."
Of course, neither statement speaks to how much muscle she currently has, threats to bone density, losses due sarcopenia, or almost anything else that is important to overall health and long-term success.
My concern is that other fantasists are going to be "inspired" by such drivel.3 -
I'm in. My goal isn't as ambitious. I'd like to lose 15-20. I recently started a low carb diet and I plan to up my excersize soon with my new gym membership being the motivation. So far I'm down 1.5 in a weeks time. I'm not sure if that's average but I'm excited nonetheless. Add me0

Just so you do not get unreasonable expectations...
I hope you understand that what you lost is mostly water weight and that you can easily gain it back.
I say this because this appears to be your second post.
There is nothing magic about a "low carb diet".
You must consistently consume less calories than your body burns in order to lose weight.
To keep the weight off you need to at least maintain your muscle mass or (preferably) increase it.
Otherwise your Basal Metabolic Rate will go down making it harder to lose more weight and harder to keep the weight off.4 -

it's a little too much for me, but i'm with you on the 3 months. i just started a 21-day work-out plan from Boho Beautiful and it is SO CHALLENGING!!! but my goal is to lose 10 lbs in 3 months. (i have arthritis, and i am on loads of meds, so weight loss is very slow for me.)0

You didn't lose 25 pounds of fat. It's was a combination of water, fat, and muscle with most of it being water.

Not for me I like to lose weight in a more healthy manner 0.5 pounds works for me. I hope things work out, or feel free to adjust your standards just in case.3

I stopped exercising and began drinking everyday and ate anything. So yeah probably gonna gain some weight0 -

If you only have 26lbs to lose, setting up a 2lbs per week loss on mfp won't actually get you a 2lb per week loss since mfp refuses to take anyone below 1200 (unless your maintenance calories are 2200).

I'm in would like to lose 26lbs in 90 days. Helps talking to people I need honest people to tell me where I am going wrong. I over eat at weekend's so any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to everyone wanting to make changes and have a healthier future.1

Yes you can lose 26 in three months. I have in the past. I exercised 5 times a week and ate 1200 calories a day. If you are 100 percent dedicated and true to yourself and what you eat you can absolutely do it.2

This thread shows exactly why trashy magazines sell tons of copies by promising 10 lbs in a week on the newest fad garbage diet and people buy it up like its candy. Completely unrealistic goals and lack of understanding of what is healthy and achievable in a realistic environment.

I’m shooting for 10 lbs in 3 months which will put me at goal weight, and honestly, at the rate I’m losing, that seems super ambitious. I’ll probably be happy with 5-6 lbs.2
