I am having a really hard time with the lunges. I just have terrible balance. I am working on that, because as I get older, I certainly don't want to start falling. I am doing them, though, and will continue to do so. Anyone else have balance issues? What are you doing about it? As SheilaCali said - 1/3 through. Yay.

Put a chair beside you to hold onto while you do it.
Look at a spot right in front of you instead of looking down.
Sometimes reverse lunges (stepping back instead of forward) can help with balance issues, but they are harder to do than regular lunges.

Day 11 done- lunge rest, yeah! I'm struggling with the lunges too, izzybelle. I'm doing both forward and backwards ones. I agree with the next poster about focusing your gaze and even holding a chair for support. I try to put my hands on my hips and go slowly. Form is key, and you shouldn't be letting your forward knee over your foot- it's all about the bend. I think my muscles just aren't (strong or) used to it, and I'm pretty tight too. I think yoga can help with our balance/strength issues. There's a challenge this month that addresses balance too, which I may have attached correctly? I hope we can master the moves by the end of the challenge. :)

    Day 11 done.
That looks like a great challenge - maybe I'll do that one once this one is finished.

Thanks Sheila, I am taking a look at the balance challenge.
    Hi izzybelle,
Just finished Day 12. Have you tried "walking" lunges? You're taking big steps forward, then dipping your opposite leg down. If you're in "perpetual forward" motion, then you don't have to make the step backwards. If that's the tricky part for you (the pushing off the forward foot back to standing), maybe those will help you have better form. They're also easier for me to do, which will come in handy when we have to do 400 or whatever. That balance challenge isn't bad, but the pistol squats would kill me right now. I had a tough time with those when I felt better. We'll see. This challenge first... again, big hug from across the country for ya!

Days 11 and 12 done. Managed ok on the lunges today. Will do some squats and a plank later just because.

Day 14 done. Oops, I did pushups without consulting the chart first, as it was a rest day. Extra credit, I suppose.

Day 15 done- half way home! Those were the "easy" days I'll look back on fondly. My quads will be dead in 2 weeks. ck2d, keep up the great work!

I had 6 days off as we were away with a big group. I had planned to keep it going, but it just got too tricky. I did the squats as they're easy to do anywhere, but not the others. Just done Day 11 so will continue from there.

Day 19 done. My knees are starting to crunch...ugh. Once the crunching turns to pain I'm done, but I should be able to finish the challenge. If I separate things I can do it- I'd just rather not. Just about 2/3 finished. Keep on going!

Check your form. Look on youtube for tutorials to make sure your position is right. For instance, when you squat, you're legs should be angled out, your knees shouldn't touch.

Day 20 done, and after an hour of yoga. Thanks God we had a squat rest day today. I've seen videos of squats with toes forward and toes out. Not sure which is best, as both camps think they're right. I've been doing both kinds lately. I'm definitely keeping my knees behind my toes though. 10 days left, ck2d- we got this (I think?)!

Day 15 done! I did 40+ weighted lunges and 25 push-ups in a pump class today and I don't know how many weighted squats. I just did a few extra of each tonight as my legs were already killing me.

That's pretty impressive! Sounds like you'll be sore in the morning.

Day 21 done, with some pushups just for "fun". Every day from here on out will be a record # of pushups for me.
