You don't really specify what type of sandwich you are eating. I get the 6" turkey and it's about 280 calories without cheese.

What type of bread are you getting that on? I would think that a 6" sub roll ALONE would be at least 280.

I found this website to help with getting the calorie count for a "personalized" subway sandwich.

thank you for this link. very helpful!

Try Pita Pit! It uses WAY less bread, and they literally stuff your pita full. Also, all their sauces are LIGHT, so there is no way you can mess up! I get a small garden pita on whole wheat, and add spinach, cucumber, tomato, onion, green peppers, bean sprouts, parmesan cheese, and ancho chipolte sauce and its a whopping 245 calories! With VERY low fat. They have a site and it includes a nutrition calculator, so you can find out what you're getting before you even step in the store.
I would pick Pita Pit any day over Subway... But that's just me :)

Seriously - it’s your fault for not checking the extensive nutritional information from Subway... I personally LOVE subway. I get a Subway Club Salad with the works and it comes in at under 250 cals
