Your post reminded me of muffins my best friend's mom used to bake when I was in high school. Cinnamon Applesauce. They were amazing! The applesauce kept them nice and moist.
Found a recipe for them that looks good:

I forgot about this thread, but have been having a hungry kind of day, so thought it should be revisited.
Anyone else want to share their muffin stories?
I'm not sure we're at the muffin story sharing stage yet
These are cute though:
ETA I see they're also on page one. I should really try to be more original!
I like them though. Super cute. But what are your muffin tops made of?
Sugar and spice and everything nice.
So not snakes and snails and puppy dog tails?
Those would make a terrible muffin!
So, you won't be coming over for supper?
Not unless you have better muffins that that to offer
What if I make an amazing meal, but you have to eat that muffin first?
Muffins are basically cake, and cake is dessert. If I have dessert first it might run my appetite.
Ah. Priorities. Dessert first.
What priority does one give wine?
And damn you for quoting my typo :laugh:5 -

Well, that depends on type of snake used... I guess I could sell them for $15 and just accept a variable profit margin.4 -

I love that word for them!
Just call me Nutty the Exotic Muffin Girl.

I've never had much success swapping ingredients. Mind you, I used Google search to find (alleged) equivalencies, rather than follow a recipe. I prefer traditional muffin ingredients flour, butter, sugar, egg. I wonder if you could add banana to those. I suddenly want to try blueberry banana muffins.4 -
My favorite muffin is my husband forty years and counting!0

I've not heard of these, but they sound good. I like garlic cheese bread. I imagine as a muffin that would be quite lovely.
It's like a biscuit, but not as flakey. Lighter than bread and denser than a biscuit with a small ball of mozzarella in the middle, cheddar in the batter and parmesan sprinkled on top. A local shop's specialty.0 -
I don't really like muffins... or cake for that matter. But I do like the muffin tops from the Walmart bakery blueberry muffins as long there's butter on it. Super healthy0
-
Quite honestly: I don't like muffins. Far too fatty and too sweat most of the time. I prefer a nice lemon drizzle cake. It's drier (less fat) and generally not quite as sweat. I take my coat.0

OUT!!! This is like people going into the Oreo thread and dissing Oreos. Tsk. :laugh:4 -
I have to agree with banana nut. Or blueberry is always good as well, especially smeared in butter lol. Not very diet friendly0
