Had a better week exercising (an extra 15 minutes per session to make up for slacking off last week). I'm tired afterwards, but looking forward to the end result. (And also the added calories I will get when switching to maintenance.) 10 more to go for this challenge, then 10 more to my final goal. I'm over half way there!5 -

Got a new job and it's really active! Up to 12 miles a day walking. My muscles are sore so hopefully not losing has something to do with muscle gain... also need to adjust my diet and commit to not drinking. I've been going out with friends and need to bring that clear premier protein drink and club soda instead of gin or beer. I think most of it is preparation. Feeling pretty discouraged though. My new goal is 172 instead of 162.

I need help getting motivated again!! I'm not sure what happened I just lost it3

flabtofab802015 wrote: »I need help getting motivated again!! I'm not sure what happened I just lost it
Been there (many times)!
Somebody once told me to "remember your 'why'"....so try to dig down and think of what your main motivation is (better health, being around for kids/grandkids...etc). It helps me when I am tempted to go off track again.
Hang in there - we are all here for you!2 -
@flabtofab802015 I doubt there's anyone here who hasn't been there. Motivation is a fickle friend. Try to track through the down times, when my motivation wanes my tracking stops or becomes less accurate and then I'm not getting a full picture of what I'm eating. Seeing how poorly I'm eating can be both de-motivating but also re-motivating after a few weeks of lapsing...like okay enough this is why I started, I feel like crap when I eat like this. Also, if you don't deprive yourself in the first place just pace yourself you're less likely to go into such lows and highs of all or nothing mentality. It's not a diet it's a lifestyle, you will track forever, you can have anything you want as long as you work it into your plan, you want a margarita Friday night, go for an extra long walk that morning etc. all things in moderation so if you have a cupcake at lunch when someone at work brings in treats you don't feel like you've ruined your day, you just decide that you need to adjust your plan for tonight or tomorrow to accommodate your "decision". Taking control is key! Weight loss doesn't happen in one day, so one poor food choice won't kill your plan, think in terms of days and weeks! Hope you find something to keep you on course for your lifestyle change!4

You know, I have always had motivation issues. I start, excited and ready to go, and then get tired of tracking, losing ridiculously slowly and then decide that it's ok to have a cheat meal, and end up having a cheat day, week, month and then I'm so far down the line that I don't know how I got there or how to get back.
3 months ago, I decided to make a bet to lose the weight (Healthywage.com) thinking that it would force me to stay on plan. It really has. I am super competitive and the thought of losing irritates me so long story short is it really has forced me to stay on plan. I switched my diet and haven't cheated once. I don't even want to.
The trick is figuring out what keeps you wanting to move forward, and that's different for everyone. For some people, a picture helps, or remembering what make you want to change in the first place. None of those things really did it for me, but the idea of losing a bet makes me want to keep going.5 -

I had another good week of exercising, but a horrible week controlling my fork. I attended a baby-shower for my daughter on Friday, a BBQ at my sisters camp on Saturday (I went back for a 2nd plate of everything), 3 very large pieces of Chicken Parm with pasta and a bowl of ice cream on Sunday, and I just finished an all-you-can eat Shrimp Fest at Red Lobster (I had 5 plates of shrimp, 5 Cheddar Biscuits, and a baked potato with extra butter). I'm surprised I didn't gain weight after eating all that food this weekend. I need to have a little more control of my will-power to kick back in real soon. I can't fail now - tomorrow is a new day and starts a new chapter in my quest to get healthy. Positive thoughts after this minor set back with extreme guilt.2
