Joyce – wow, starting on the Christmas Cantata makes me realize it will soon be September then a few months until Christmas! We are seeing/hearing crickets already – fall must be around the corner. We will take some of your extra rain if you wish to share! I heard on the news that for viewing the eclipse, anything with a tiny hole/holes – like a saltine cracker might work. Hold it above a piece of paper and it will project an image of the eclipse onto the paper. I saw a news story that Amazon sent out recalls on their eclipse viewing glasses – I guess some weren’t up to snuff. Yikes!
Dorrie – when it rains it pours for you! Sorry to hear about your friend’s dad – my dad passed 4 months after my mom, they were in their late 80’s. I know he missed her terribly. Regarding your Ex’s AD and living will… good it was changed, what a hassle it would be if it wasn’t and someone will need to make a decision.
My BFF married a fellow who worked for corrections. Of course, she was then listed as his beneficiary for his state pension. They eventually split the sheet and both got remarried. He passed away a few years ago. Come to find out, he didn’t change the beneficiary to his new wife so my BFF is getting his “survivor” retirement until she dies.
She had no idea until the state pension folks finally tracked her down and of course his new wife was ticked – it’s all perfectly legal and aboveboard. I was glad for my BFF because her Ex treated her like crap.
Heather – loved the pig photo with you and DH. Enjoyed reading about Wismar and some of the history and artifacts. Were you able to practice your German? How many more days until you are back home? I don’t blame you for booking a cruise with that line next year.
Katla - my sis and her DH live in Indiana and DS/SIL/grands live in Colorado. Thank goodness she and hub are able to drive and would much rather do that than fly. But still, they have to board the cats, get someone to water the plants/garden, etc. so don't visit the kids very often. I can see why your DH isn't excited to make the trip. ((HUGS))).
Michele - how many did you say were invited to the shower? Love the little shower gifts, by the way. I had a little ceramic spoon rest I kept beside my stove for years I got at a shower. It has to be hard trying to help get things done living so far away - not like running across town. You and Vince will probably sleep for a week after the wedding!
It’s raining! Woke up to a HEAVY mist which I’d say is measurable rainfall. Managed to get my walk in and car washed so feel I’ve accomplished a lot so far.
Have a great Thursday!

VENT COMING YOUR WAY
got off of work to meet lady to install the redone airstream curtains at the the dealership. airstream was at the dealer to get fitted and have the new awning put in. after REPEATED emails, i stated NO, WE ARE NOT going to bring the airstream to you, it is at the dealer, YOU can go THERE. had to give 2 days advance notice to the dealership so they can get the keys ready and put the airstream where we can have access to get in and put them on. i was there AN HOUR early to wait for her and them to open up. texted her "are you on your way?" called her, MAIL BOX IS FULL can't leave a msg. she calls... i say are you on your way?, she says, "oh i'm sorry...." i say, "you're not coming". i cut the conversation short b4 i ripped her a new one and headed for work. i texted kirby... he called the mgr. i was soooo pissed, i was shaking and was starting to feel my eyes water up...
the 2 pillows we are having them make with the left over fabric.. we r getting those at no cost. unfortunately, i have to now meet her saturday at 11am. she better PRAY they fit. i told her when they didn't fit the first time that kirby was REALLY pissed and she didn't want to deal with him, it was better to deal with me, now that this happened, she DOESN'T want to deal with me if something else goes wrong. i even more pissed because this experience has taken the joy out of seeing them on and looking pretty........
i joined a new gym yesterday (where my old gym was, same bldg). i cancelled our membership at the Y and the last day is 8/31 and the new gym opens sometime b4 1st. i will also be able to get a locker, so no more heavy *kitten* bag to carry.
ok. rant over... you may proceed.6 -

Hi gang. Another day, another 50 cents! It’s pretty quiet around here, most classes don’t start til next week, but I don’t start til October, so I have some prep time.
Wendy: my older daughter was a horrible cook. She forgot to put tuna in tuna helper once and claimed the directions didn’t say to (!!!)
Gloria: WOW I have never seen chuck roast so expensive!!!
Marcelyn: wow great photos!
Barbie: that will be a great patio!
DJ: prayers for you and speedy healing on the lip! No to cancer!
Michele: the drama continues…..
MAchka9: I had to laugh at your story. We had a huge fight over the office microwave here a while back. It used to be in our lounge, but then our lounge became someone’s office, so the microwave ended up outside my office by the coffee pot. Well then the carrying on started. No fish, no broccoli, no beans, no this, no that. So then they just totally took it away. After a faculty rebellion, that person was moved out of the lounge and the microwave was put back with a sign that said “no bitching”. So now no one says anything about the smell, but I think I’d draw the line at tentacles!!!
Joyce: Nebraska has the most area in the eclipse totality zone and we are expecting several thousand tourists! I am watching it from the 98% zone in my front yard!
Heather: great photos!
Peach: can I borrow the dog?
Allie: stay strong (((hugs)))
Lanette: I saw that hair photo and said GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Dorrie: sending you peaceful thoughts.
Katla: LICE OMG. Our kids came from Russia with them. We spend 6 months getting rid of them and we worked
hard! They were resistant to every therapy we tried…even Lindane! Finally the old mayonnaise treatment worked! We couldn’t believe it. We were so frustrated we were about to actually shave their heads!
Pip: I’d be ranting too!
OK ladies I have to get going to yet another meeting! Take care, Meg from steamy Omaha

Marcylyn, ....They just got back from a dive trip in Routan, wherever that is. I think the Bahamas. And they have been to one of those big blue holes I think they are called.
Roatan is an island off the Honduras. It is part of Honduras. Nice place to dive, we've been there several times. The most famous blue hole is in Belize waters.
I'm at about 200 dives now. My husband is great at being a buddy. We stick like glue. If I'm videoing he watches me closer as I go up and down a lot more and go deeper than usual following things.
The oddest thing I have ever seen underwater on a dive ...... (drum roll)...... A submarine! No kidding. We were diving along just looking at fish and heard a motor rumble then this dark shape appeared out of the blue and rumbled past us. We weren't in any danger of being hit as we were over the reef and they were along-side it but it was really kind of cool. It was a research sub, about 60 feet long or so.

Was at the real estate office for over 2 hrs...1000.00 a month rent plus water usage .. first and last months rent and rent oct 1st.thats 3 grand..now the realtor is going to speak with owner and try and get him to buy a garage.she did an analysis on other condos that have sold this year.so basically will buy the condo in a year for 105.000 with leasing it I can't have the dogs there.so I am sure Tom will let me visit with them until then.after thinking alot about things I think it would be better off selling both places and splitting .but we shall see.7

Meg As long as all those eclipse tourists leave Nebraska as pristine as they found it...I am a native Nebraskan and rather protective of my home state. Here in Virginia we will see a partial eclipse. Was wondering if DJ is living in the "zone"? Katla I did not realize there would be no more total eclipses! Profound bit of information, that.
Pip Ugh. I know you are frustrated about the curtains.
Machka LOL a tentacle in the sink! I would have freaked.
Gloria Yummy sounding kabobs. Much more appealing than tentacles. And thanks for the zucchini recipe.
Heather The building facades are so interesting. So is the pig. You two are so cute.
Carol That picture of your grandson and granddog is so precious it squeezes my heart!
Dorrie Sorry about your friend's dad and about your ex-husband. Lots of emotional stress for you recently.
KJ and Lanette Shampooing your hair in space and that outrageous hairdo of yore are both fascinating. LOL!
NYKAREN Don't you just feel so clean and empty after your colonoscopy? The propofol and the light empty feeling afterwards are the only two redeeming qualities of a colonoscopy in my opinion.
Rye They better give you that job you want. Who could possibly be any better for the position! Sending positive vibes.
Vicki So glad you are posting again.
Barbie So exciting to come home and see that amazing progress on your project! Looking good!
Marcelyn Oh I enjoyed looking at those fish pictures. I love pictures of salt water fish and colorful frogs. For some reason, they make me feel happy and peaceful. Wonderful photos.
Dana and RE and Cheri
Allie Thinking of you as you transition into your new life!
Tentacles Machka's story reminded me of a cute story about my son - when he was 3 he was sitting at breakfast with his dad and me and had a thoughtful/puzzled look on his face...we waited to see what it was he was thinking about and finally he asked, "Mommy, what is that sea creature with the long stinging testicles?" (Portuguese Man O' War). I was tempted to answer "Your father, son" but resisted the urge LOL!

~ Marcelyn - GREAT underwater photos. I'm envious!
~ Barbie - thanks for that reminder! I sure need to remain focused on what I can control (which is myself only, barely) and let everything else go!
~ Michele aka exermom - I'm glad I got to speak with my friend and the peace in resolution that this was a blessing. Found out "Pops" health faded fast after losing his beloved, as is somewhat typical in the elderly when they lose their purpose for getting out of bed.
~ Lanette - As for my ex and his documents, if it wasn't for me, he would never have had them to begin with. Now, my step daughter cannot locate his will, only the power of attorney and advance directives. She's informed me it looks as if he will be recovering and hopefully released by the end of the weekend. Current wife is MIA as of this morning at 5am, which isn't that unusual I'm told. My step daughter got an appointment set up with the attorney we had our documents drawn up with many years ago. She intends to ensure MY name is not on any of the documents, because I already know what kind of nightmare it would be. Nevada is a commonlaw state, with right of survivorship being normal process. I want NOTHING to do with his estate (or lack of), or be responsible for any of his decisions. Unfortunately, his children look to me for guidance often as he's gotten older and health is failing, because the current wife (3rd since I divorced him) has no sense of responsibility or obligation to him other than to take his money and use him as a babysitter. The irony in that is a best selling novel in itself! Like your friend, I'm very aware of what his pension looks like, as it was ME that got him the job to begin with - so I want nothing from the "widow/survivor" benefit, including the military benefit too. It's bad enough I have to keep his last name because it's just too much of a hassle to change my name with my security clearances UNLESS another marriage takes place...which is highly unlikely for me!
~ Ladies - THANK YOU ALL for the HUGS! I want to again thank you for responding and supporting me. I'm exhausted on all levels, but have an internal drive that's kicking in and I'm making lists of things I need to update myself for documents, or clear out of my closets and donate along with making sure I visit with close friends I haven't seen in awhile - even if it means travel - before the weather turns to winter. It's funny to me how things like this motivate me to pull my head out of the sand and when I do, I pull everyone important to me out on the same field of play and force them to do this too! Taking advantage of my 3 day weekends needs to be a higher priority to ensure I get that opportunity. Also, to reaffirm my commitment to my college studies, and lastly but certainly NOT least is my commitment to my immediate family and employer. That's kind of backwards of how I list things, which is normally God first, gratitude, let go, stay in my lane, and LOVE! If I do that, in that order, my balance stays where it should...
Much love and respect from Vegas,
Dorrie aka TrulyDivyn

Karen that's right, the prep is no fun, but the anesthesia and that light and empty feeling after was great!! I enjoyed a simple egg and garden tomatoes for lunch and will take a well deserved nap--I had to wake up at 4 a.m. To do the second half of the split prep
As soon as I get the IP I will hit you ladies up for your favorite recipes.

Allie- just a cautious statement about leaving without your animals it will be extremely hard for you to get them after that. Unless Tom is very kind and loving and willing to give them up after you leave without them. I never got my animals after I left my first husband and he has a lot of Tom's behaviors.
Also if you think Tom is going to let you come and go after you leave you better think twice. My DH changed the locks and I was not allowed back there and he got a restraining order on me. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. If you think Tom acts nasty now wait until you leave.
In fact, I would not even leave your home until your divorce is over. It is much better to have him leave if possible.3 -
Katla sorry for daughter with lice. I teach in a variety to schools. I always spray my hair with a mist that contains the essential oil lavender as a proactive against lice.
(((Pip)) Sorry for your frustration.
It took four attempts to get our window fixed that our neighbor shot out. I do think part of my knee problem was how upset I got over that job not getting done. Free pillows aside might be time to find someone else.
Meg I have a friend who is taking a family trip to a place near Carhenge in Nebraska to see the eclipse. A friend tried to talk me into driving to St. Louis to see it. That is a stressful trip for me in the best of circumstances, so I am staying here in Minnesota. A 550 mile trip for two minutes. Even if it is a historic two minutes. No. I'll watch the videos. We are supposed to get 86% here but it might be cloudy that day.

Ladies, I think we missed the anniversary of Elvis's death! August 16, 1977. I remember distinctly where I was when I heard the news.... sitting in the reception area of New England Fish Company, Pier 89, Seattle waiting for a job interview. Lorraine, the receptionist and switchboard operator, suddenly shouted, "Elvis is dead!" to anyone within earshot.
It's lodged in my brain like where I was when I heard the news that Kennedy was shot and the Twin Towers were attacked.

Lovely conversations tonight with the waiting staff.
Our chambermaid is training to be a wine waitress. . I almost didn't recognise her in her smart waistcoat!
Our dinner waiter has grand ambitions to work in a smart hotel in London. He is so sweet and the perfect waiter. As we come in to dinner they all line up at the door. Sometimes he takes my arm and escorts me in. He often bicycles in to the port towns.
Our dinner wine waitress is great. She calls us Madame Heather and Sir John. . Tonight we found out that she is married to one of the bar staff and they met on board.
Our breakfast waiter is lovely and an old hand. He knows all our quirks and preferences.
This evening my DH and I were having a moment of recreational time together when the staff knocked at the door to replenish the mini bar. We felt like teenagers with lots of giggles.
Elvis final years performance tonight. It's the 40th anniversary of his death. I won't be going. DH will. To me it's not funny. After that there is a staff Elvis performance in the bar. I will go to that. We have got quite close to one of the staff singers. Like to support her. Lovely girl.
Much love, Heather UK X ☓2 -

Mary~ Fanncy ~ I have gotten the ok from my attorney to move out, there is no way I could ever possibly afford this house on my income, hence the condo..
I will talk to him about my moving out, and about the dogs.. and work from there ..
right now since he sold the Camero and paid off his car all he pays now is the mortgage . so the quicker I get out then he will be paying everything here. and I wont be broke.. my attorney knows whats going on and I trust her..4 -
Hey everyone! I've been lurking lately. Just so much going on with you all it's hard to keep up!
Marcelyn I love your photos of the fish! Very nice!
Heather your photos are very cool! I have cousins in Copenhagen and I would love to go visit them one day.
Karen in VA Hello!! How are you? I'm doing pretty good!
I have been praying that my back problems would ease up. Well, my doctors office called and Dr Rubin's nurse Lacy said to increase my gabapentin from 600 mg to 900 mg, 3x a day. At first I was out of it and wanted to sleep. All groggy too. But now I'm feeling really good and I'm walking WITHOUT limping! The nerve pain is much better.
I won't have to have injections next month and hopefully another fusion on my back will be pushed way back for awhile! And since I had a blood clot in March I won't have to have a IVT filter.
I'm so amazed Dr Rubin revaluated my case and had Lacy call me about the medication. Prayers are answered!
I'm going to a potluck Fish Fry tonight at church. I'm bring cornbread and Apple pie. I'm staying away from the stuff covered in sauces and dressings! But the dessert table is always packed!!
We will get 90% coverage of the solar eclipse. You can use your cell phone to see it too. Just be careful you don't move the phone so the sun hits yours eyes.
My grandkids Zech and Gabby started school this morning. But yesterday Jessica took them out to the beach. They live at Panama City, Florida. I stayed in one of the condos in the background. Very nice! Her girlfriend owns it and rents it out if anyone is interested. It's a 2/2 and real pretty. Has a large balcony and on the 5th floor. They have several pools too! I wish I could just move in!!
Have a great day!

So far, work has been good to me today!! The nerve damage from the shingles has been acting up a bit but I think it is because my office chair is terrible. I’m going to buy a ball chair this weekend and see if it makes a difference. My boss will think its hilarious, but he won’t mind if I want to try it. Lol. I work with a great bunch of people and am so blessed! In addition to my work, I have a pet and house sitting business on the side called Purr & Howl Petsitting. You can check it out on Facebook. I put fun little videos on there and pics of the pets quite a bit. This week I am taking care of a two year old toy poodle and a ten year old torti cat. They are both so snuggly! I am loving it!
Yesterday I managed to get in 2 miles of walking (I know that is nothing compared to many, but for an office worker like me, it isn’t bad! I already have 1 ¾ miles today so I will be over the two miles again for today! I got some extra motivation when the scale showed I dropped another 5 pounds!! I’m super stoked about that. I try not to think about how far I have still to go, but just check it every few weeks to be sure I am still going in the right direction!
Gloria – Well aren’t you the lucky doll of the day! The Korean BBQ sounds good! I am going to cut up and roast a lot of veggies with turkey smoked sausage and Italian spices to have for lunches the next few days. I am pet and house sitting so I need something quick I can eat at the house when I go walk the doggie.
Sue in WA – So sorry to hear about the Aunt but am glad you had a good visit before your move!
Marcelyn – Thank you so much for sharing the pics! I love Bonaire! I will never forget my first dive in salt water though. We went to the Gulf of Mexico on a live aboard for four days and the dive was amazing compared to the lakes where I learned to dive! The first time I saw a rock fish, I didn’t see it … my dive buddy pointed it out to me! I’m so excited you had a great dive! Your Go Pro takes awesome shots!
Josephine – Congrats on the weight loss!! Isn’t that just the best motivator!
Jeannie – Welcome back.
DJ Myrtle Beach SC – I will add you to the prayers for sure! Hopefully it was just a buildup of something and not skin cancer. I know it can be just awful waiting to hear for sure ((hugs))
Machka9 – OMG!! I can’t imagine someone doing that at work!! There is a time and place for everything and I have the good fortune of working with people that all agree burnt popcorn and seafood at the office are bad things. Don’t get me wrong … we love popcorn around here but just don’t let it burn. Haha
Joyce in IN – The pound is doing good right now so it takes 1.29 dollars to equal one pound. I am not really that excited by the eclipse this time. I don’t know why, because I normally would be. Maybe I have just had too much going on. Our drug stores here had some eclipse glasses and they were gone as fast as they could get them too. I don’t know if it is true, but have heard that some of the glasses that were given out around here are bad ones and that they should say made in the U.S. to ensure your eyes won’t get hurt. I haven’t looked that up on snopes yet.
Gloria in WA – As far as vacations go, a cruise is the best bang for your buck and is cheaper than going to Hawaii!! I am really looking forward to going on a cruise late next year! But I promised the baby sister I could come visit her in Hawaii in March. I was supposed to go in December but the prices in December were ATROCIOUS!! April is nearly a $1000 cheaper! The sister that lives with me, Emily, and I are finally getting to where we can afford a little travel. We live frugally to save for trips and it is so worth it!
Peach1948 – What a marvelous pic of a boy and his dog!! Good times!
KJLaMore and Lanette – OMG!!! That was an awesome video and a pic for the day!! I can say my mother used to get her hair up high, but I NEVER saw it that big! Haha
Dorrie – good grief hun when it rains it pours. I’m so sorry for all you have gone through in such a short time!! So sad the ex’s current wife isn’t there for them when they need her and that she probably didn’t even know where his papers are. Glad you made him take care of that back then! Makes it easier on everyone to have something in place!
Michelle in NC – What a beautiful invitation!! Just gorgeous! I’m with you, they really need to just send a note on change of venue and not a whole new invite. Those invites were a ton of work and it would be so hurtful to not use them! Love your bee!! That is just adorable! I love painting ceramics. We have a shop called the Painted Pig that I like to go to and paint.
Blessed be y’all!

Hello ladies!
Well third week of boot camp and only one letter from boot camp son. I am having moments of panic. Cried myself to sleep. I need to be reaffirmed that things have gotten better!
Well today I volunteered as a server at the senior luncheon. Loved seeing my TOPS friends, as all of the volunteers attend that was well. They served spaghetti, so I sang two of my Italian arias. I had a lot of fun, just doing something outside of my normal comfort zone.
Other that that, just relaxing here. Love ya all!

Good afternoon. I am still here -- just crazy busy at work this week. I am loving my new position -- and that reminds me that I still need to run down and sign all of the paper work and get a key for my second office.
We have eclipse fever -- in the "path of totality." My husband bought groceries this afternoon, we have filled up both cars, we have the solar lens and camera ready, eclipse glasses have been checked and double-checked. (After the news that some were not safe, I made my poor husband verify that ours are fine. They are!!) I'm coming to work tomorrow, but I won't be in on Monday. So excited!! Now the weather just has to cooperate. The last I checked our forecast was for a high of 89 and SUNNY!!!! Let's hope that holds.
My mother, niece, and great-niece are supposed to drive down from Washington (about 3 hours away) to our place. They aren't planning to leave until Saturday morning, and I have told them over and over again that leaving that late is a mistake. They need to head this way late Friday night. They won't commit to leaving on Friday.
I fully expect them to decide Saturday morning at around 11:00 a.m., that they can't make it. Traffic is going to be horrendous. It's always bad through Portland, but will be especially horrible this weekend. If they make it, my niece thinks she is driving back up Monday afternoon. That's not happening either.
Wishing all of you safe viewing of our celestial phenomena.
(My husband took this picture yesterday with our telescope/camera set up -- practicing for Monday. You can see sunspots! I looked through the telescope too, and I was teasing him. "Are you sure that's not just a little lint on the lens??" He didn't appreciate my humor.)

Going to my friend's son's funeral tomorrow, no church just straight to Crematorium. Not looking forward to it but need to show her support, I don't know his wife and children.
