Solar Eclipse 2017
On August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. Viewers around the world will be provided a wealth of images captured before, during, and after the eclipse by 11 spacecraft, at least three NASA aircraft, more than 50 high-altitude balloons, and the astronauts aboard the International Space Station – each offering a unique vantage point for the celestial event.
NASA’s live eclipse programming begins at 12 p.m. EDT, Monday, August 21.
12 p.m. EDT - Eclipse Preview Show, hosted from Charleston, South Carolina.
1 p.m. EDT - Solar Eclipse: Through the Eyes of NASA. This show will cover the path of totality the eclipse will take across the United States, from Oregon to South Carolina.
Watch live, beginning at 12 p.m. EDT:
Eclipse Live: Video streams from NASA Television and locations across the country.

I found them, but I have offered them up for $10 to anyone here that wants to buy them.0 -
My DD's school is getting NASA approved sunglasses for all the kids to watch the eclipse this morning. As a yard duty, I'll be out there also monitoring that kids to try to take them off to look. Historic event that I get to share with my DD.

That's cool that you're sharing this with your daughter. My dad took me to see the total eclipse in 1979. We were in Washington or Oregon (it didn't cross the entire US that time. It went up into Canada and across Greenland.) I barely remember it because I was so little! He's taken the grandkids to Idaho this time.0 -

Must. stay. inside.
But what if your boss comes by at the last minute and tells you that you can't go outside during the eclipse? Whatchu gonna do then?0 -

Well. I got to see one little nibble missing. It is now completely cloud covered.0

That sucks. It's about to max out here where I live. I'm not in totality, but it's still pretty cool seeing the lights dim. Nice, clear day as usual.0 -

Bad parent or cool parent move I'm not sure, but zero fvcks given.
Both of my kids' schools are giving them glasses and letting them watch.0 -

Getting cloudy here in MD but I did get to a) use my glasses and b) see a nibble out of the sun! I'll go back out after 2 and see what I can('t) see!0

Starting to get darker here in Oklahoma0

It's giving me an NHO1

I made a camera obscura from two shoe boxes taped together for length and have been going outside every ten minutes to watch the progress. I'm in Maryland so no totality here, but it's still pretty incredible to see.1

We'll only get 78% coverage where I live, but at least the clouds are staying off long enough for me to watch it. My home town is getting 100% totality and they can't see *kitten* because it's raining, lol.0

I was not prepared for how unusual and simultaneously stunningly beautiful totality was...just wow!
Night birds started singing, as were the crickets and frogs. It was at least 10 degrees cooler too.
The closest example of what I mean is the difference between seeing pictures of the Grand Canyon and standing on the rim of the canyon and seeing it for the first time...and this is even a bad comparison.6 -
Stood outside looked up at the sky forgetting to put my glasses on till someone shouted at me to put them on0
