This is why I don't buy cereal

Seriously? WHO is eating one serving of cereal?? I want to meet these people and study them in a lab.
I don't bring cereal into the house because I can't stop at a serving. But I convinced myself I would be able to stop if I just get this honey puffed wheat cereal and only use it to top my protein fluff (thanks, Volume Eaters Thread)
So much for only using it on protein fluff! ... 5 servings of cereal later and I finally feel like I can stop... For now.

Yea that's how I feel about nuts, especially cashews, WTH I can eat a cup of them easy. Get captain crunch, it will cut the roof of your mouth as you eat it, that would def slow you down23

I have been eating exactly 1 serving of Cheerios each night (weighed to the gram) and actually, oddly, it's enough. Now, it's WAY less than I ate before I got this whole "serving size" thing...but I think there are some cereals that can satisfy you. Or you account for eating more of what you want. Sometimes I tend to eat double the serving, and just count the calories...
On another subject, I'm not allowed to even look at a Peanut Butter jar...12 -
I use one serving of Shredded Wheat with almond milk as a snack. Definitely wouldn't cut it as a meal.3

I like your bowl! Mikasa?
Yep, I don't eat cereal anymore:'(1 -
RIP cereal.
Can't have it in the house. I've tried, really I have.9 -
Lol the other day I had a serving of cinnamon toast crunch (maybe about 20 squares) haha so so sad4
-
Cereal is addiction I am powerless over so I REFUSE to buy it...except Rite Aid had one of my faves on sale BOGO last week and now there they sit, staring at me.7
-
I can only eat a single serving if I'm not that hungry and it's a before bed snack to round off my night. DAS IT.8
-
I no longer eat it for breakfast unless it accompanies a protein. It's just not filling in the morning for me. I tend to have more control when I eat it at night or as a snack.6

I reserve cereal for those nights where I am still hungry after dinner and want something kinda sweet as a desert or snack. Then I can pull down Cinnamon Toast Crunch or one of those Great Grains cereals, eat a serving with 4oz or so of almond milk and be content.
As breakfast, though? Yeah.. never. It's pitifully sad what a serving of any cereal looks like, which you illustrated quite well, lol.
It's just a bowl of sadness at that point.12 -

I don't think I've had cereal since I was like 10...0

Love my cereal but the suggested serving size of 45g is a bit of a joke for me.
I reckon this fuels me for about 22 miles of cycling....

I weighed out one serving of Honey Kix the other day and I thought that was a lot. But, I don't normally eat cereal so I don't know what other serving sizes of higher calorie cereals look like.1

I enjoy my favorite cereal (1 or 2 servings) once in a while as part of a meal.
I'll add a protein smoothie with it, a boiled egg or two, a homemade protein bar, some fruit etc.
I get the best of both worlds. I can enjoy a little bit of my cereal in moderation, but the other foods fill me up.
But that tiny amount of cereal or even 3 servings would still have me searching for more food an hour later.5 -
I have smaller bowls and just got used to it, I guess. I find now if I just pour into a bowl and munch, I end up with way too much and feel so full that I feel sick.2

I volunteer for your study at the lab. When I eat cereal (not often at all), I only eat the recommended serving amount. I supplement my breakfast with fruit and my protein intake with eggs or yogurt. Just because you "can’t stop at one serving" doesn't mean that the rest of us are experimental material.3 -

Yeah, when I do eat cereal for breakfast I get the Cheerios with protein and usually have Greek yogurt on the side and it's decently filling.1 -
I rarely eat cereal but I used to eat it almost every day. Never once knew or cares what the recommended serving size was. I sort of lost my taste for it over time though.0

I love cereal, but the only way I can work it as a breakfast now is if I have one serving of it with one serving of fruit. For instance, breakfast this morning was one cup of Cheerios with one cup of blueberries, and really, that only fills me up for about 3 hours or so. And I cannot put milk in my cereal anymore as I've found that makes me feel like I'm eating so much less.0

My husband's idea of 1 serving is a full bowl.8

Disappointing thread. I was thinking you got the runs or something....0

The single portion of kashi cinnamon harvest shredded biscuits is 26 individual biscuits. It's not a bad portion size, IMO. But, I also eat eggs, milk and fruit along with it. I am not a fan of cereal snacking... or serial snacking either...3

For me it's Quaker Corn Squares. It's not breakfast.0 -
I adore breakfast cereal. It's a weakness of mine.
I only use it to top protein ice cream, because NO WAY is a serving enough for me.3 -

Me too. I can eat one serving and be happy. But it took a while to get accustomed to the smaller portion. When I do eat only that for breakfast I usually need a mid morning snack.1 -
I weighed my cereal for the first time this morning and was suprised that a 30 g serving of cornflakes was more than I expected.
As a student, cereal is a staple and I can't go without it. I was raised on "plain" cereals like cornflakes and rice crispies so I still view cereals like coco pops and frosties as a treat and not an everyday thing.0 -
I usually weigh out 56g (2 servings) of cornflakes with a cup of milk for a small meal... It doesn't keep me full for much longer than an hour or two, but that's fine with me.1
