@WhatMeRunning Nice to see you back :)

    @KatieJane83 Sorry you're injured :(

    @7lenny7 Great pics as usual!

10/2 Walked .9 mile with hubby. It was very difficult for him and I felt bad for him. Took us 19 min. I guess a year of sickness really took a toll on him. I hope he doesn't give up.

Later I walked .5 mile, ran/walked 3, then walked .5 cool down. First mile running was painful and slow. Lots of stretching. I don't know what's up with me lately. But each mile got better.

I have another goal for the month, and that is no alcohol. Yesterday I woke up tired from a night out to celebrate my birthday (it's today!!) and pretty much canned ALL of my plans. Not stupidly hungover, but just didn't do anything. I don't drink excessively all the time, but can have weekends where I don't do what I want to do, get tired, and don't meet my running goals. So I'm having a month off alcohol to see what it does to my body. It won't be a permanent change as I like the odd beer, cocktail or glass of wine, but it will be nice to have a break.
That's how I started off...I made a small rule to not drink if I had work the next day. Of course, that meant that I went completely nuts on Fridays and Saturdays, but in a relatively short time, I kinda just stopped drinking altogether. I didn't mean for it to happen that way, it just did. The original intent was to just cut back my consumption, but it's coming close to two years now without, and to be honest I don't really miss it.

    Oh, and happy birthday!

@skippygirlsmom I actually love laying back down and falling asleep again, but usually when it happens I have somewhere important that I need to be!

@KatieJane83 Sorry to hear about the injury - hope it gets better with treatment.

@7lenny7 That was still a great run, and those pictures are terrific!

@WhatMeRunning Great to see you again!

No early morning start for me today! Upside is that I get to sleep in; downside is that I don't get to enjoy the cooler morning air, so tonight's run was back to 84F. Oh well, it's only for a few miles, so nothing to complain about too much. Mentally I'm pretty much prepared for Sunday's marathon, but physically I'm starting to feel every single ache and pain as the running winds down. It's kinda amazing how your body basically just ignores it all when you're piling on the miles.

    01 - 5.26

    Total: 5.26 / 100 miles

Must be a trail runner - these are the descriptions of my two club run choices this Thursday -

    Long run:
7.5 miles across rolling farmland and tracks to Backwell woods and back. It’s dairy country with contented cows and horses out in the fields, therefore cow poo, mud and stinging nettles. The last mile is unavoidably on country lanes, so hi-viz vests are essential.

    Short run :
5.5 miles, also through Nailsea's wildest cow country.
Expect nettles and exceptional slurry, you lucky people.

Both of those full me with glee. Mud, yay!! Cow poo, yay!!!' Slurry, yay!!!!!!

Nettles - definitely not yay. Although....nettle stings take your mind off aching calf muscles.

A liberal coating of DDT will handle the Nettles. Take the long run and watch your step :) That is what I would do.

It was a crisp -6 (21 for you fahrenheit enthusiasts :D ) this morning, loved it.

Trying to figure how far out from Whistler I should schedule my last PT appointment for my piriformis. I think Wednesday night (racing Saturday morning) is a good stretch? So much more precision needed on this one :/

    October 1- 28+7

Wednesday sounds good, or maybe Thursday? Your weather must have turned the corner. Waiting for that to happen here, looking forward to the cooler temps.

@skippygirlsmom Good for you. Coaches need to learn how to motivate without setting ridiculous goals.

You stay off line for 3 days and you miss 7 pages. No time to catch up!

Did my 2.8 miles before work this morning. Now I'm in the manager's office with ice on my ankle after talking to the company nurse because I rolled my ankle walking to the parking lot. There was a nice loud pop and now it's swelling up. Ugh. There goes my running goal, and my company also no longer vets the pizza party for so many days without accidents.

Sorry to hear about the ankle injury @MobyCarp. I would say your plan sounds good, but this is far from your first rodeo and you know what to do.

Happy belated birthday @girlinahat. I don't think you can go wrong with either trail option.

    Happy on-time birthday @ddmom0811.

Glad to hear your knee is OK @katharmonic.

Lightning does seem to ruin the best rainy runs @7lenny7.

Ouch! Hope the ankle injury is not too severe @navygrrl.

I think beer after a run is pretty amazing @seanevan10. I love it when events offer it after the race.

Your goals and schedule are pretty awesome @MNLittleFinn!

@WhatMeRunning I missed seeing you around here every day! My schedule has been pretty busy this year. This month is my crazy month, then it's a month "off" getting back into training starting the middle of November at the latest.

@WhatMeRunning LOL!!! No holes in the socks after running in them? I'm supprised no old ladies stopped to tell you you'd ruin them, or that no one make a snarky remark about your "missing" shoes.

@Elise4270 - No holes! I gave them a thorough inspection. They looked a little dirty was all. I passed a guy mowing his lawn, expecting a question or comment. All he said was, "Nice day for a run"!
