    Is it "real" science fiction? I've been trying to find books for my dad who is into classic scifi (Asimov, Niven, etc) but having a hard time because most of it is more fantasy.

    @ythannah

    yep, it's definitely not fantasy stuff (I'm not a fan of fantasy sci-fi in the least).

    This is very much more classic. 600 some pages and quite readable.

    If he's a fan of classical science fiction, he'll like this (I hope.).

    I just started reading "An Anonymous Girl", a psychological thriller by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen.
    So far, I'm hooked...97 pages in the first go and I don't usually get sucked in so quickly by this type of book!

    Thanks, I'll definitely look for it. He's been hospitalized for 5 months and can finish a book in a day, keeping him in reading material is difficult. Sci-fi isn't my thing at all, although I've read some of his in my younger day. I'm surprised how many of the old authors I recognize.

    He'll get a kick out of the author's name too, he's into classical music.

    The last book I read was a draft of a book two of my friends wrote, which is not published yet. It's a psychological thriller about a cult. They are talented writers (not just biased because they're my friends) and it was pretty good. It did need some work with the overall structure and character development though.

    Before that I read Last Call: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition by Daniel Okrent, which is exactly what it sounds like, a historical examination of Prohibition and what led up to it. Ken Burns made a Prohibition series that was based off this book. I will be honest that I didn't finish the book before I had to return it to the library (thanks to my terrible concentration and time management), but from what I read it was the best book I've read in the past several years. My dad started reading it when he was visiting me and even he felt the same way. I don't usually read fiction because I can't really get into it for some reason. Nonfiction is definitely my thing.

    oh i finished this one over the weekend. it was trash, despite the interesting premise, so don't waste your time if Amazon pops it up as a recommendation for you like they did for me.

    @iMago

    Yep, 100% correct..... I too just finished this.

    Cool premise, garbage read.
