Has Anyone Noticed?

Has anyone noticed some of the general demeanor here on MFP is very negative and a bit intimidating? I've been using MFP for years off and on and the majority of what I see in the general diet help and nutrition forums are users who seem to be rolling their eyes while typing their responses. Thought the golden rule applied online too. Thoughts on this?

I try to be mean to everyone equally so that nobody feels left out. Even if people agree with me I will tell them they are wrong. I have learned that is how to fit in here.

    You are totally wrong

On one hand, a lot of times a person is asking a question that was already asked 100 times that day or they could easily google it. On the other hand people are very hangry here sometimes.

I'd suggest the search feature for the former, and peanut butter and chocolate for the latter. Then we could all just get along! :smirk:

    What is the "golden rule"?

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Anonymity gives people the brazenness they would normally not have. It's easy to be a jerk when you are hiding behind a clever nickname.

AND their use of sarcasm. Most mean things are said through sarcasm but of course here, if you can't handle sarcasm you're a sensitive Sally.

Well that’s kind of true irl as well. But when you are being addressed by someone in a sarcastic manner you can roll your eyes or give them a look or something, which I think is a normal response to sarcastic comments....you can’t really do that on line.

I've mastered the best eye roll after 14 years of being surrounded by the master of sarcasm. This is tamed :D

This is undoubtedly the most asinine post ever.

I read in the weightloss/diet/nutrition/fitness discussions, but no longer actively partake in asking questions about these subjects or offering any opinions about them. These topics are a religion for the active posters in such discussions. I already have a religion and it's not deadlifting, macros and calorie counting.

I've found that getting information about fitness and weightloss is better to be gathered passively at MFP. By reading the success stories and tips by successful folks with long term maintenance. Interacting with the "vets" conversationally? No.

If I want interaction and discussion, I limit it to the Chit Chat section. That way I can discuss the things I really care about. Like celebrity deathbed confessions, bad boyfriends, brats who misbehave in Target and their indulgent parents who refuse to see it, sexuality complaints and evil cliques and the evil cliques that are spawned from them which continue splitting off indefinitely into an infinite number of evil cliques. Good stuff here.

I heard that a new episode of “As the MFPWorld Turns” is coming up! We might find out who the baby father is and who ate the last cookie from the cookie jar!!!

I wasn't ready for everyone to know that I am pregnant. Thanks a lot. I thought that all internet secrets stayed secrets

Who is the ebabby daddy? Is he stunning? Stay tuned to find out! We’ll be back right after this message about MFP Premium.

@jcstevens86 has already claimed the baby father role. That could have been a different episode though

My thoughts are that this place is very tame compared to any other social media or forum I've ever used.

And people who lie that their spouses are okay with their flirting and sexting. You missed that big part there, milady.

Good thing you hide your harem from your wife then

I show my wife all the newdes I get and most nights we play "swipe left or right".
