It’s always hard lately. Just have to keep trying! Struggled on my birthday. Celebrated with some sugar. Why do I still choose food as a punishment or reward? Stayed on track with exercise and the rest of the week. So only one weak day.8 -

How long in maintenance : I declared it at 140 in January 2016, but that was too high for a petite lady. Redeclared it 4/14/17.

Successes of the week: Made a few good choices during battles here and there.
Challenges of the week: Feel like I am losing the war, lately. Not just bingey, but don't seem to care about keeping my eating in check. Or rather, I care, but not as much as I care about comfort eating. Been a stressful week after we lost power (and trees and poles) during Monday's wind storm. That also means losing income since neither of us could work a full week. Add to that our horrible catastrophic-only health insurance plan just jumped nearly $500mo. (Thanks, Trump and GOP!!!!)
Still feeling….fragile… at work. Making too many dumb mistakes and just generally feeling incompetent. Anxiety is high and emotional resilience is low.
Anyway, that is where I am at. Just trying to hang in there until I feel stronger. Counting my blessings: no trees hit my house, we have a little generator, and everyone is relatively healthy for the moment.9 -

Successes/struggles of the week: I feel like an a-hole complaining about losing weight- so I’m not going to do it. But I just don’t know what’s going on. Clearly I need a lot more calories ??? This new way of eating is clearly doing something quite drastic. I don’t know. I guess more avocados and olive oil and honey are in my immediate future- though what I really want is to put away half a cheesecake!2 -
Coach Jen hopefully things will get better for you hugs3

MW. I totally understand what is happening I'm going though the same never would have thought being in maintenance was harder than losing3

Successes:I actually called and had an appointment wth a physiotherapist. I am notorious for not asking for help but I did this in relatively short order so I am proud of myself. I have completed 3 of the 4 days of strong curves. I am figuring out how to get some cardio as eating less calories than my already low daily allotment blows.
Struggles: Still struggling with the fact that I am injured. The 1/2 marathon I was supposed to do is tomorrow so I am stilll lashing myself a little. trying to be kind, but it's not easy.
Upcoming week plan: Physio physio physio. Thats icing 3x/day, wall sits 3x/ day, advil 3x/ day and strong curved to help my legs and gluten get stronger so that this doesn't keep happening.8 -
@CoachJen71 Hang in there.
@microwhisper Losing too much weight is still a problem. Lots of people will say that they would love to have that problem, but a problem is a problem. I have been surprised at how hard maintenance is. I think that the avocado, olive oil and honey are great ideas.
@bringbackthejoy I'm sorry about the HM. Hope you heal quickly.4 -
@CoachJen71 At least you are still within range. Things will get better!!
@microwhisper I had the same problem. Try not to worry too much about it; things will eventually work themselves out. It took me a year. I am still a tad underweight, but my doc is ok with it. You will find your "me" weight.4 -

Many retirement parties and milestone birthdays this moth and next as well as the holidays so I'm trying real hard to not gain. 1 week down and didn't gain so I'm happy about that.. This week 2 more dinners out.
I didn't make my goal of 5 miles a day walking almost was .8 tenth of a mile short cold weather and me don't mix. and now that we turned back the clocks gonna try to get out before the sun goes down.3 -

Success/struggles of the week: i had a good week, still working on implementing those good eating habits, limiting nightly snacks to a reasonable amount, which now , of course! includes Halloween candy. So far so good. I'm officially one year in maintenance. Haven't disposed of my fat clothes yet, but i think it's time. It takes up too much space and we are going to have full house, with the kids and my mom coming. So I'm ready. I was hanging on to it "just in case ", i guess not really believing that i will be able to sustain the weight loss. I'm doing pretty well though, so it's time. Also for a while i was entertaining idea of altering some things, but it's hopeless because they are so huge on me. I'm a little below my maintenance right now, but it's a positive thing. I would love to lower it a little, if i can easily sustain it that way.5 -

Success/struggles of the week:
Hate the way my body reacts to food by retaining water. Saw 156.2 Friday but back to 159 today. Tomorrow (after weigh-in) I'll probably drop off some of it. I reacted to rice (Friday) and ice cream (Sunday), even though I was well within calories. ugh. Still a learning curve. Will avoid both this weekly and should post a nice loss next week, as I'm still trying to get back to my ideal maintenance range.3 -

12th November: Won't weigh - on vacation
19th November:
26th November:
Success / struggles of the week : I find that it's hard for me to eat to maintainance, unless I go out to eat. If I make food at home, take food to work, or am in control of what I eat, I tend to eat low. So, totally mental...LOL But I'm happy with the weight I am - have been pretty stable for the past few weeks. I haven't decided if I'll adjust my "range" since I"ve been under it for weeks. But I'll see what happens after a week in Cancun.
Successes: I've been on the pill for as long as I can remember. For the last few years, I haven't had any "anything" for the TOM. Then Friday, I did. I'm sure it was the fast weight loss and the fact that I've started leveling out. 1 day I was 143.6 the next 145...stayed that way for 3 days then got "it". I'm back down to 144 now. For as long as I can remember "TOM" water weight has never been an issue...until now. So I get what everyone freaks out about. Especially newbies. I knew better - I knew I didn't gain fat - but I wondered what was causing the gain, since the scale was going down steadily over the last month.
Well, it's only 6 days until we leave for vacation. I'm 6lbs lower than what I thought I'd be, so happy about that. And very happy with my swimsuit situation. I'm sure the Nov. 12th recording will be insanely high...looking forward to seeing how much damage I can do in 1 week! LOL
I'll talk to you guys the week of the 19th! Have a great couple weeks!3 -

Success/struggles for the week: It seems that I can easily maintain in this range as long as I am conscious about what I am putting in my body and continue with my normal 5-6 days of exercise. I finally allowed myself to pull the pants/skirts from my closet that were too big - since I was at the same size for so long I had 28 pairs of pants and 13 skirts that no longer fit. There are probably a few more that should go as well. I am trying to embrace a more minimalist lifestyle so only purchased 2 skirts and 4 pants to replace them. I went down 2 sizes.
Thank you for allowing me to join your thread!9 -

Success/struggles of the week: For the past week I focused on trying to hit 2100 calories per day using the TDEE method. I averaged 2002 calories per day so I need to bump it up just a little, but I think I did ok. My Fitbit shows that for the past week my average burn per day was 1764. I am going to continue trying to hit 2100 each day and see if I can't finally get to where I am holding steady. I see so many people talk about how Fitbit overestimates calories burned, but mine definitely is underestimating. It frustrates me because I would really like to just eat what it says I should but I do not maintain when I do.2 -

Success/struggles of the week:
Still being vigilant about my weekly calorie allotment... and still poring over my facts and figures to confirm my TDEE. Since the start of 2017, my actual loss has been 92% of my "expected loss"; however, over the last 6 weeks, including a recent whoosh, just 63%. It was a huge relief to get a whoosh because I was starting to think that my maintenance TDEE, gulp, was going to be way way lower than expected. Instead I am just amazed at how long it can take for fat losses/gains to register... hehehe, the body must have a lot of red tape complicating the process! So, I'm continuing with my plan to vary my daily deficit to whatever is tolerable on a daily basis, and possibly end up reaching the low end of my range.
There were some sales at a local drugstore chain, and I ended up buying 32 Turtles bars (caramel/pecan/chocolate). One thing I've learned as I stock up on treats, is that it's nicer to eat them later in the day using "saved-up" calories, rather than following the "eat first/pay later" approach.
We now have lots of snow and ice on the sidewalks, and walking is more challenging. And my feet are playing up and being a pain. I was in agony for the last few miles of my walk home last night. Despite all the misery, I noticed something absolutely delightfully hilarious: I was carrying a lot of weight from shopping, and had also stuffed a two litre bottle of pop plus 4 large tubs of Greek yogurt into my backpack: the weight was actually over balancing me and causing me to slide faster on the ice. Oh my goodness, I thought, I have officially become a "little wisp of a thing"!
Wishing everyone a lovely week! I feel for those of you who are struggling. I know how hard it is to carry on sometimes. I hope it helps to talk about it on this thread, amongst people who understand and wish you the best. Anyway, I applaud your efforts, and that you seem to treat yourselves with the same kindness and understanding you would show others.4 -

Success/struggles of the week: Just joining here for the first time. But have been lurking reading these for a few months. I am a veteran Yo Yo dieter (can you say 45 yrs worth!) who is focusing on maintenance this time around. I reached my goal the end of Sept and started slowly adding 100 calories every other week in Oct. I am still adding and trying to figure out what a good level will be. For me the struggle is transitioning and slowly adding calories. I had thought it would be faster but adding every other week seems to give me a better database. My TDEE spreadsheet is looking to be around 1850 so I have a few more weeks to play at slow adding I think. It is really helpful to me to read all of these posts. I don't know why all my life I thought I would diet and then just be "normal". It does not seem to really work that way at all. I am also hopeful that MFP now set to maintenance this month will give me an accurate read on daily intakes. It links to my fitbit. Right now it shows BMR at about 1200 and adds about 300-600 for exercise and activity.2 -

Successes this week: 1 month into maintenance, and I'm still within range - woo hoo! In order to stay motivated I've given myself some fitness goals that I've started working on...not a fan of running, but want to be able to run a 5k (actually run the whole thing) and I am determined that I am going to do a pullup. I've never in my life been able to do one, so this would be major for me.
Struggles: Halloween candy. Can't figure out if I should try and ignore it, or just work on eating it so then it will be gone and not tempting me anymore - lol.2 -

I'm enjoying my Women on Weights class and trying new things. Last week we did the plate machines which I'd never done before. I liked it, especially the leg machines. I've also been doing back extensions on the 45 degree bench for 2 weeks. I like those and will keep them up. They seem to work my abs as much as my back. This week I did incline and decline chest press with barbell. That was cool. This week we will do dumbbells. I'm familiar with them, but am sure I will learn new things. I go to the Y 2x week for this, plus one workout on my own, so I've not been able to make extra trips to swim. That's too bad because my swimming had been improving this fall. I'm 35 minutes away one way, so it's a big time commitment. If it was 5-10 min away, I'd probably go every day!
Oh, my FitBit One died this week, I've had it for 3 1/2 years! The bluetooth died. FB has discontinued this model, so they're hard to find. I really like this model because it's a clip on and counts both floors and steps. My hubby finally found one on eBay for a decent price. The seller had good reviews which he checked, but he didn't notice the shipping location until after he ordered it--CHINA! So that means it will take a few weeks to get here. UGH! Much to my surprise, I could hardly handle one day with out it---with shorter days and wetter weather it's harder to get out! So after getting up at 3:30am and working a long hard day as a nurse, hubby stopped on his way home from work to get me a Zip. It doesn't count floors, but at least I can keep up with my steps. I'm close to some big step and floors milestones I'd planned to reach by the end of the year, so I hope I get the new tracker in time to register enough floors.1 -

I hope you are still logging. It looks like you're losing 2-4 lbs a month, which means you need to add back 250-500 cals per day. There are MFP threads about calorie dense foods, so I'd encourage you to check those out. Go ahead and have some cheesecake too!2 -
@fitand50inSD lol “winter is coming” - couldn’t help reading that bit of your post in Kit Harington voice in my head2

215 pounds was my weight loss goal. But I'm considering changing that to go below 200. I was 396.2 pounds when I officially started my weight loss journey in September of 2015. The reason I am now considering losing more weight is I want to complete my first full marathon come April. I was able to shave over 12 minutes off my time for a half marathon this past weekend from my first try in April. And the difference in weight was about 25 pounds. I would like to maybe lose another 20 pounds to try and see if that helps my time even more. But as long as I don't go over 215 pounds I'll be a happy camper.

Struggles of the week: Trying not to feel like I'm still "dieting" even though I know that I have to watch everything I eat still, probably for the rest of my life, because I gain weight so fast. It's a very daunting feeling.
Anyone else feel the same?2
