Are you using a log for uncooked pasta but weighing it cooked? A single serve of pasta is much smaller than we would normally have but that looks even smaller than a serve to me.25

Yeah, I am cracking up....I was like, 'seriously?! How does anyone ever eat pasta"6 -
A serving of pasta is 2 oz. dry. If you are talking spaghetti, that ends up being a rounded cup, which is a good amount of pasta once it spreads out all over the plate. .8

Haahaa see, it ended up being a good news thread.11

Pasta is very calorie dense for sure.1

Remember that information on the label for dry pasta is before it is cooked. Dry pasta would weigh just about double after cooking.

It always makes me sad how people go through high school, college / university and then cant follow or understand the simple label on a box of, in the example, pasta.
While this might be true, calling someone out on a mistake they already feel silly about is something most of us learn is kind of a not nice thing to do when we're in kindergarten.105 -

You guys should try Miracle Noodles. Tastes like nothing except whatever sauce you out over it, virtually calorie free plant based product.9

Are you talking about Shirataki noodles made from Konjac root, @nooshi713 ? They are virtually all fiber, and I hear they are an acquired taste.2

Yes those. A diabetic coworker of mine told me about them.0

Why eat a pasta that tastes like nothing? Good pasta tastes like the flour and eggs it was made from with appropriate amounts of salt and occasionally flavored with additional ingredients. Cheap, store brand elbow-mac is okay for mac'n'cheese but try some of the better brands like De Cecco that are made with Italian flour. They are readily available in many supermarkets. Remember, you can spend more on the pasta because you will be using less of it at a time.
I love homemade pasta. It's really pretty easy to make. A cup of flour, an egg, a bit of salt and a couple spoonfuls of water in the food processor instantly makes 4 servings of pasta dough. You don't even need a roller. Some shapes, like orecchietti ("little ears") can be shaped over your thumb. It keeps fresh in the freezer for weeks.
Spinach pasta is also pretty easy to make. Just add wrung out spinach (either thawed from frozen or cooked if fresh) and add it to the flour and egg in the food processor. Then add water or flour to get a workable consistency.
Here's a link to my recipe for pasta with some pictures: https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/main-course/italian/fresh-pasta-in-the-food-processor.html19 -

Why would you want to eat pasta that tastes like nothing? Try any pasta brand made with Italian flour like De Cecco which is readily available in super markets. Or try good homemade pasta. Pasta should taste like good flour, eggs, and a bit of salt.

You don't even need any special tools to shape it. Here's a picture with an alternative use for that measuring spoon:

I love real pasta if course but these are a good substitute for me when trying to cut calories.0

This post reminded me of the first time I weighed out an actual portion of my favourite cereals
Except without the happy ending19 -
Pasta was one of the few things I was really off on by eyeballing. But I was consistently under estimating rather than over. It was one of the few things I continued to weigh until I realized that I simply didn't want as much pasta as the box thought I should.0

Zoodles. A zucchini is maybe 50 cents and fills a bowl. A big one.8

Spaghetti squash

Nope, no leniency. No one is allowed to have a brain-fart, ever. Nup.
I wonder what this dude would have thought of my double-degree, post-graduate qualificationed self a few months ago when I spent 5 minutes trying to peel the cutter off the old box of cling wrap to stick on the new one, when I could have just put the new roll of cling in the old box. He'd have been horrified. Lost all faith in humanity.28 -

To add I’ll just remain thankful for the ability to laugh at myself. This mistake doesn’t speak to my intelligence.
