Eat right for your blood type?

You should find out though, even if not for the diet.
That means going in to get blood drawn... Mr big shot anesthesiologist (who laughed when i told him to be prepared for struggle) couldn't find one single vein to put a drip in, he had to wheel out an ultrasound machine to find a vein.
30 minutes later and a bunch of exasperated, impatient surgery staff, he finally got it. Nurses at doctors surgeries have ZERO chance of getting blood out of me, been there done that, and I leave full of bruises on my arms and all of my blood still intact lol
Honestly if you have been to a doctor or were born in a hospital they probably have your blood type on file and you can just call them and ask.4 -
It's actually a really good idea to know your blood type, not for diet purposes, but in case of medical emergency. As far as diet goes, read the thread, it's nothing but bs.3

or possibly a genuine physical effect if the diet you adopted was healthier than your previous diet - but this is nothing to do with your blood type
If you improved your diet because of your star sign or your best friends recomendation or a vision from an angel or whatever - the effects of the improved diet may well be real - but the reasoning behind it is still nonsense.

It's baloney, but you do need to know your blood type in the event of a medical emergency.1
-
I dont think you need to know your blood type in case of emergency - in an absolute dire emergency you would be given blood group O negative
In reality, in most emergencies there is time to do an urgent cross match - whilst you have IV fluids if neccesary
Also in reality, unlikely any medical staff would just take your word for your blood type anyway - too risky in case you are wrong or confused or incoherent - all likely if you have lost that much blood that that they cannot wait for the cross match.- and above would still apply.13 -

Hihi that's why I started donating blood. It's a free blood type test (and nasty diseases test) which would other wise cost 200-300$ where I live...
I was seriously amused. I'm an O-. According to the blood type diet I should be avoiding dairy. I eat 3 servings a day. Meat (poultry and red meat) which I should be eating lots off, I eat only 2-3 times a week. I feel better than ever before and lost 30kg.Aaron_K123 wrote: »Your blood type is just literally what surface antigen is present on your blood cells...how could it possibly have anything to do with what you should eat. Had that discussion with someone not long ago. It's sad how little people know about how digestion, absorption of nutrients and metabolic pathways people know. The guy in question didn't even know bare basics. He genuinely thought that food and blood came in contact sometimes in the digestive processes (between stomach and intestines according to him), long before the nutrients were absorbed by the intestines and released into the blood stream.2 -

Same here, although I'd lose loads of weight as I'd virtually starve.1 -

You don't need to have blood "drawn" to have it typed. It only takes a prick on the tip of your middle finger, similar to how people with diabetes test their blood sugar.1 -
Christine_72 wrote: »You can find out your blood type with a finger prick. Not a lot of blood required.
If you ever get caught in a situation where a vein must be found, drink LOTS of water beforehand.
I think that's where the problem lies... The majority of the blood tests I've had over the years I've had to be fasted for, no food/water beforehand. Prediabetes check, operations etc etc
I am SO sorry to veer this thread so off topic. I'll shut up now!!
Oh OP. as everyone else mentioned, the blood type diet is codswallop!
fasted blood work means nothing to eat or drink after midnight except water. I have to have blood drawn every 3 months and dr and even the lab said I could have water or even black coffee. but no food or nothing else that ay skew the results.0 -

That's a thing, too - somatotype diets. It's also a woo-based silly BS thing, just like the blood type diets. {eye roll}5 -

Makes perfect sense, since homeopathy is even bigger quackery than eating for your blood type. Both are total woo, with no reliable evidence to back them up.19 -

Homeopathy and biofeedback have no basis in science either..I then used dna testing to trace the origins of my ancestors, the real roots, and looked at their ancient diets and found that to be similar to my homeopaths findings..again interesting...this took several years to do...I apparently got "wooed" for referring to my blood type's ancient origins diets and body's build type as a guide to my eating and reason IF is working so well for me while dramatically reducing inflammation markers in my blood...so be it... I am a freak of nature eating 2800 calories average a day on 16:8 or 20:4 and working out as suggested by my body type and lost 21 lbs my first month...so go ahead and WOO me! Ahahaha! I love you all even if you do💋 but just that one theory of eating for your bloodtype...total bs scientifically on its own..just a dream of some guy who got rich off it...the book still sells on Amazon like crazy!
You lost weight because you were in a caloric deficit.
It has zero to do with blood types, homeopathy, or your supposed ancestry.

Ok, I had to look this up. I'm 0 positive, according to this I should eat:
---
A high-protein diet heavy on lean meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables, and light on grains, beans, and dairy. D'Adamo also recommends various supplements to help with tummy troubles and other issues he says people with type O tend to have.
---
Oh great! I get gassy reflux from too much protein, and especially lean meat. I live on carbs, and especially grains! On the other hand I can eat anything else without getting any tummy troubles. Street food all around the world? I'll be there, and not get sick regardless of hygiene standards.4 -

Veering off as well: I have a problem with holding onto fluids and electrolytes sometimes. This makes me sick. This is the moment I get blood tests. Yep, if your fluid levels are low this does influence some of your blood tests, and things such as glucose and lipids might suddenly be too high. Or electrolytes normal even if you just pee'd out a whole lot. Not fun arguing with doctors.0 -

I dont knowwhat your starting weight was or what it is now. but for many people who have a lot to lose many of them can eat a lot of calories in the beginning and lose weight. IF is just a window of time in which your calories are eating. I dont lose any faster doing IF(have done most of my life) than when I wasnt fasting. so nothing magical there. if you lost 21 lbs in your first month a lot of that was water weight, but to lose that much in a month means you had a big deficit so either you were eating a lot more before that in order to lose so fast, or a combo of being really active on top of a big deficit. thats 0.7 lbs a day average or 4.9 lbs a week. so that means you had a deficit of about 2500 calories per week.(1000 calorie deficit is 2 lbs a week). so you were in a deficit anyway you look at it.4 -
Eat the wrong type of food for your blood type, and you're likely to attract the attention of the aliens among us. So beware.

I have seen my homeopath and naturopathic dr work absolute miracles with peoples health, including my own.. unlike the medical system. So WOO me again lol! Best of everything for all who read this.💋
How much did you spend on all this testing? Sorry you have bad doctors for you to believe that modern medicine hasn't helped billions of people.8 -

Oh great, so as a 0+ I have a substantial chance of being abducted by aliens. At least the chance of being a reptile is fairly low.5 -

Type AB - he calls this type "enigma", since apparently it's difficult to understand how having a Type A mom and Type B dad could result in Type AB offspring...
Type AB blood: Foods to focus on include tofu, seafood, dairy, and green vegetables. He says people with type AB blood tend to have low stomach acid. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoked or cured meats
So no coffee, wine or bacon. What a sad shadow of a life.

I spent $0 on tests to find out how to eat. You don't need DNA tests or biofeedback to figure that out.16 -

Actually I am chronically ill and very underweight right now so I understand health issues. I guess maybe I'm more initiative and aware of my body? My trigger foods were obvious.
Oh BTW I'm A+.
Type A blood: A meat-free diet based on fruits and vegetables, beans and legumes, and whole grains.
Strangly I'm low fiber as fiber kills me.

You can ask me - AB- here. I'm pretty sure I've never been abducted, but who knows because memory blockers and all that. I'd like to think I'm not reptilian even though I have a lower than normal body temp so there's that, but no visible scales or detectable ion fields. I think it would be really cool if I was descended from aliens, but sadly there's no evidence to support that, though I'm thinking of getting a DNA test, and after reading this I'm setting that up tomorrow. I'm also going to start working on my ESP skills, which I've been neglecting.9
