The thing that amused me more than anything in this whole thread is that OP referred to Totalsham as being "self-righteous" but this WHOLE thread is based upon his theory being correct over and above anyone else's. It might well work, he's clearly losing weight by doing this but that doesn't mean it works for everyone.

My 6'3" husband can do that and never gain an ounce He can eat 2 pizzas in one sitting. lol.

But me a short menopausal woman in my 50s? Umm no, doing that is how I got to over 200 lbs.

I've never worked a night shift but feel much more at ease with a schedule that makes me wake up around noon and go to bed in the early hours of morning and I've eaten before bed in the past, and even now, and as long as I've been under my calorie allowance, it hasn't stopped me from losing weight. I'm jealous though, I've eaten a whole pizza before but it's not something I'd regularly do, not even when I work out... then again, pizza is delicious!

that doesnt make it smart lol.
He's under calorie limit, so why isn't it smart? Meal timing has no effect on weight loss. I'm eating now and it's 10:50pm. I'll eat till about 11:30pm (maybe an apple) then off to bed. But still will be within calorie limit.

I agree. Meal timing does not matter. I regularly eat entire large pepperoni pizzas at random times. My weight has been stable all year. Most weeks I am very close to my fat, protein and carb targets. I track fiber and a few other micro nutrients as well.

In support of OP, I intend to have a midnight snack before bed tonight as well!

Why is your collar popped up to your earlobes?

Yeah, that's right. A full 12 inch, thin crust veg and triple cheese pizza, Caribbean wedges and coleslaw. 1325 calories, and I'm off to bed shortly.

The reason I posted this is because of all the bull crap I read about NOT eating after 7pm, or 3 hours before you go to bed.

I work strange hours, so I'm nocturnal. Breakfast between 6pm and 7pm. Lunch at around 1am and then dinner between 6am and 8am. I usually eat an hour before I go to bed, and I've lost weight consistently every week for the last 3 months.

So, we can put the whole "don't eat before bed, or you'll get fat" myth to bed <<< (see what I did there)

Soooo because this "works" for you (which we don't actually know, as you do not have a comparative example of eating the same pizza a few hours before going to bed to compare results with) then...it should work for everyone else? We should just discredit everything we have ever heard about eating right before bed because you posted this?...

Edit to add - I do not care about timing and eating, I often eat before bed. I also don't go posting about it and telling people it is the "Right" way of doing things. In the end - it really does not make a difference.

Even though I'm not a fan of veggies on a pizza and yours had no meat, I won't judge that.

Fail: Not a NY pizza. Come to NYC and I will show you how real pizza taste.

but chicago pizza is the best! everyone who's anyone knows that :flowerforyou:

It is a myth. A calorie deficit will still be a calorie deficit if you eat before going to sleep.

your theory holds no water how much extra weight could you have lost by eating when you were going to stay awake..hmmmm.

Well, it works for me. I eat and lift weights before I go to bed. I always make sure I stay within my daily allowance, and I always lose weight. Regardless what time you eat, the weight still comes off the same.

I could probably sleep walk to the kitchen, then start eating like some kind of demented beast, as long as I stayed within my allowance, I'll lose weight.

Good for you - You keep eating like that, see where it gets you ;)

I ate very similar... I still do. I have also been known to polish off a pizza on occasion and I usually always eat at least a snack before bed. I lost weight, decreased body fat, and got off all my percription medication. I have maintained my loss for two years but have continued to knock out fitness goals.

So OP: GOOD LUCK! Hope you crush your goals just like so many others here who eat pizza before bed have. :)

I thought you were going to bed?
I'm in bed! Just checking emails, Facebook, MFP and Netflix. You know how it is.
Guilty! The only thing worse for my sleep habits than a laptop is an iPad. And the belchfest that a late-night pizza would be for my gut. Ice cream or cheesecake, though, now yer talkin....
