I looked to see if BevMo had any craft NA beers the other day and they didn’t. I don’t drink them - but I was thinking if I found a NA beer I like it would be awesome to have on hand for the summer when we like to sit outside and bbq
They aren't craft beers but Clausthaler and Bucklers are way better than the old time NA beers. Many grocery stores carry them. I'm not a big beer drinker (but my husband is really into craft beers) but I pour it in my wine glass just for fun.3 -
Okay. Let's give it a shot.3

I cut out alcohol since Jan 13th except for one day. I’m down six pounds. I’ve replaced with hot tea in the evening when I would have had wine. I still fight cravings at times but am seeing the benefit of clearer head in the morning and weight loss.
I had been at weight plateau for months with food tracking and exercise, staying within calorie goal. I’m amazed that I could stop alcohol and break through that plateau, even when replacing those calories with real food like Greek yogurt or almond milk. Definitely has shown me that my body does not process alcohol like it did when I was younger.7 -
Last night I went out to tea and took some of my own drink ( with the alcohol removed) and when i was asked what i was drinking i told them it was non alcoholic etc.. and they sneered at me.
I went to a beer-heavy festival yesterday with my husband and had one glass of Chard. It was delicious and I enjoyed having a drink with him. But that was it. I'll prob do one glass again today during Super Bowl, but I don't feel any need to have more. Going to go back to being dry tomorrow - Thurs.

Me too @kittybenn - actually looking forward to the dry week I finally get the stitches out of my leg tomorrow - 2.5 weeks of an infection and antibiotics. And a cold on top of that. I am ready to work out again! We are having friends over for the super bowl. I’m planning on one glass of wine or one beer and that’s it! Good luck and have fun today all!3

Hi @robinacasey, I have been dry since Jan 1 but I have had some NA beers occasionally. There have been some that I have really enjoyed (Super Bock Black Label, Krombacher, Erdinger), and I have found it helpful to sip on one of these some evenings, rather than tea or water etc.2

Thanks for these suggestions. Good for you for going over a month w/o drinking!1 -
One local tea shop has a few I want to try: (all decaf) Chocolate Monkey=chocolate banana, Lotta Colada=pina colada like, bourbon vanilla = caramel and vanilla, and Casa Blanca=strawberry raspberry!!

@robinacasey, thanks, this thread has helped a lot!2

Hey guys. I'm a recovering addict. I used to drink to replace my DOC. I don't even like to drink, but it's my replacement. I haven't touched my DOC in over a decade. Yay! But I have relied on alcohol over that period from time to time. At my worst I drank everyday a whole bottle or even two of wine. My divorce was the black hole that sucked me in. Breakups always kill me...happy to report I'm single for 6 years and I stay away from men. Yes, relationships with men are what trigger my relapses so sadly they had to go. Lol
I was training for a half marathon (cuz addicts don't do that) and still drinking that much daily!!! I have no clue how I did it, but most my daily calories were alcohol & I somehow lived & reached my goal weight & completed the half marathon. Wow!
Fast forward to today. I have almost stopped drinking. I will admit I only drink when in a social setting. Which is usually only once every other month (6 times a year...been on this routine for 2 years) I cut myself off at 3. Alcohol wasn't my DOC so I guess that's why I have been able to do that. Not saying other addicts can do this, but to me I hate how I feel after just 2 or 3 drinks I remind myself of that at parties & social settings. Progress right...
I'm training for another half marathon and this time doing it without all the drinking.13 -
Anyone else picking up new hobbies while cutting down or quitting drinking? I started baking maybe it’s just a comforting and rewarding activity? And, wine doesn’t go well with baked goods - but tea and coffee do! This was some bread I baked today. Easiest recipe ever! Super good.5

Then went to hear an 80s band and friends continued to have more drinks. Must say that I felt a little left out not drinking but had no temptation to drink. It just felt a little awkward, so instead, I danced a ton to the music.
Afterwards, the gang went to another bar and I came home. I know I will feel so wonderful tomorrow morning when i wake up. Have coffee , exercise and relax in the morning. No regrets at all not drinking, but I can see why people start to limit going out to bars when they're sober. It just feels different. Xo
But at least you danced a ton!

32 days dry and today is 33. My husband made tons of white wine and has to build another wine shelving unit because I haven't been drinking it. He used to find it difficult to keep up with my drinking. LOL!9

I'm knitting again. It gives me something to do while watching tv, instead of eating and drinking.5 -

Howdy all, I'm doing Febfast here in Australia - going alcohol free for February to raise money and awareness for youth drug and alcohol issues.
I'm a pretty big drinker, especially over the holiday period (which bled thoroughly into January), so it is a bit of a struggle - we went to a BBQ on the weekend with friends and as the only ones not drinking we left after a couple of hours. I'm so much more useful on weekends without a hangover though, and am truly planning to follow through after Feb with a much reduced drinking regime.
This weekend just gone was the hardest, we had tickets to a show on Friday and then the BBQ. Rest of the month is pretty light for plans.6 -
Ok here we are 4 of 4. It’s not only Suoer bowl but it’s Sunday evening. The night to relax and have drinks. Staying strong while hubs is annoying me because he’s had too much to drink already!!! AF here as AF9

Hi, yes I have set up my sewing machine again after many years. Not sure what my project will be once I get to using it.
Trying something new as a beverage during the superbowl. Coconut water. Nice change.5 -
@hotmamma2016, your post brought back a bad memory. In 2004 I completed a sprint triathlon (.75 mile swim, 12-mile bike, 3-mile run) with a raging hangover. Threw up halfway through bike ride. But I finished. Nothing to be proud of. If I’d had a brain in my head I would have stopped. Of course if I had a brain in my head I wouldn’t have drunk vodka late into the night before.
I’d like to think whatever crazy persistence that was can be channeled for the positive. But stubborn white-knuckling hasn’t served me well thus far. Grace and gratitude are what are seeing me to success in this AF (sorry Norminv) adventure.
I am super grateful for this group and kind of amazed at this process so far.8 -
I’m doing some much needed odds n ends around the house instead of wine weekdays. Much easier on the waistline.7

This is my first sober Super Bowl in 15 years. It’s actually not too bad since I didn’t drink during January. Did give in and eat 4 servings of chocolate chips for 32 g of carbs but I will count it as a win none the less.
Good luck for the rest of you Super Bowl party goers.9 -

@runtodayamyrun Day 3 - yahoo! Keep it going, my friend!
@Sabine_Stroehm I think you should count it Day 5!!!
With this in mind: Day 6 is in the books!
Onward!5 -
Yes, I get way more done not drinking my life away!3
