I had a good midday run to wrap up the month. It felt much better than Monday's run, likely because I made a point of eating closer to when I was heading out. I am pretty sore from my training last night. We did high step ups to a single leg on a soft bench - so demanding on all the leg muscles! Glutes, hips and hamstrings to get up there and then calves and ankles to stabilize once there. I am short so the step up is a challenge and I also have issues with my ankles collapsing. Orthotics help when running but with step ups I have to really focus on keeping my ankle stable. SO HARD! It is a great workout and something I really need but man I felt it the entire run today. I did stop at mile 3 to stretch out my hips and that helped a bit.
@_nikkiwolf_ - Thanks, I have ordered a pair of each to try them out (love Amazon Prime!). My only concern with the Xtenex is that they may not fit through the lace holes in my shoes. On at least one pair they are not the normal round holes but more narrow and rectangular for flat laces.
Happy Birthday to @KatieJane83 and @lporter229!!
@hanlonsk - YAY!! Welcome back to the Running!
@Ryokat - Hope you are ok after that fall - sounds like it could be painful!
@RunsOnEspresso - it is cold here for So California too, especially at night! I had to bundle Hobbes the Vizsla up in a jacket for our agility class the last 2 Mondays. He doesn't have thick fur and no under coat so he really gets cold when he isn't moving around.
@amymoreorless - Hope you are feeling better! The flu this year has been tough!
@mobycarp - I hope you do stick around just to post what and how you are doing. It is great inspiration and I for one love reading your posts.
@7lenny7 - I think that is awesome that you are going to run your entire town! You might need to have a t-shirt made (I run this town or something)!
Congratulations everyone who ran this month or got out there and did other rehab exercise (@elise4270), whether you made your goal or not!

@lporter229 Happy Birthday!
@MichSmish Congrats on some incredible mileage
And congrats to all who took part this month; a truly inspiring group!
Today's weather was pretty warm, and pretty humid, which made for a harder run when combined with tired legs. Still, I got in more mileage this month than I would have ever thought during recovery, so I'm super-chuffed about that...especially considering that it was a short month and I took a week off completely for on-call support at work. And so now on to March...where is this year going already!!?

Goal = 87 miles (average 5km per day)
Actual average came to 5.53 km per day
Ended February with a hill workout tonight. 30 minutes of hill repeats - half way up, easy back down, all the way up, easy back down. That "all the way up" part was loooong. I also swam this morning and took the dog for a long walk so I am worn out and ready for bed.
Great job this month, everyone.

Not bad. I needed one more day of running in there to hit my 200, but too many little life events blocked me. Ah well, ON TO MARCH!5 -
10 km 12ft Davis Hill & Grouard Trail. It was an awkward temperature, -2C.
To cold for Shorts, T-shirt and Light coat.
To warm for Tights, Long Sleeve top, Light coat, gloves and toque.
Settled on my MEC Rock climbing pants, tech t-shirt, Light summer coat, fall gloves, ear band.
Was still venting hard on the hill climb and on the in-bound with the sun in my Face
Gee can you tell I enjoyed the run into the bright sunshine even though it was pushing my temp into Red Zone. Once I started back down the Hill it had cooled off by 2C, just enough to change the outbound Slush into Ice Marbles which made for interesting downhill running-sliding. Never fell and didn't do any superslider stretchs as I did a lot of Traction Hunting - crossing from one side to the other. Now to play with the Foam Roller and do a few gentle stretch's.
As part of the local Adult swim Club every 3rd swim day they do a dry-land session at the end. One of the ladies identified all 3 runners in the group just by our limited flexibility. She said we look like her hubby trying to stretch.
Missed Goal by 83 km but the last week has been good, with 35.4 km of the months 56.6 km.
Back on track for the April HM.

I had planned a 7 mile run while my son was in confirmation class, but on the way home I thought I felt just a faint something in my ITB. Considering the workout I got Saturday and the 8 mile run the night before, I decided the best thing I could do was skip my run and spend the time on a good glute workout instead.
If you are familiar with the Stravistix plugin (A web extension for Chrome only) which calculates your fitness, fatigue, and form based on your running, I'm in the "Overtraining" zone due to that 20 mile mud fest. Last nights rest put me back into the "Optimal" zone. I'm trying to use that as a guide for training.
I finished the month with just over 90 miles, 85 miles less than last February. I'm hopeful, however, that March will see my first triple digit total since April. I'm so far behind on my race training that my goal now is just to finish, rather than finish in the top half of the field. Even if I finish, I may repeat this race next year (rather than moving up to the next distance) just to improve my place. My two big races last year ended in great results for me and I don't think I'll be satisfied unless I can finish well.6 -
Oops wrong month. Pasted over to March!1
-
02/27--3 miles
02/28--5 miles
Wrapped up the month with 57 miles. 3 miles short of the target, will try to stay on track for March!5
