Depends. Likely not, but...the purple in the tie should be darker than the shirt, and the spacing of the dots in the tie should be either much further apart or much closer than the spacing of the squares in the plaid.

This falls in the realm of personal opinion.
I wouldn't, it's too busy, too many patterns for me, but it's also not objectively wrong. With that shirt a black knit or black grenadine tie would look fantastic. Basic is better.
If you're pairing that stuff with a suit the suit better be solid navy or charcoal. More pattern with these two pieces would fall into wrong unless you're experienced in complimentary patterns.
I like that shirt a lot, btw. If it fits well, that's worth finding the right tie to go with it.

I think all of the men in this thread look great. There is something about a man dressed up in a suit - an air of confidence. It disappoints me that every place has gotten so casual that you just don't often see men dressed up anymore. Looking good - every one of you!!!4
