Congrats on such an amazing job! I have PCOS too and know that it is impossible to eat the same amount as others and lose weight. You just motivated me to go do my Zumba today so thank you!:)

    lol...

    I meant the exercise. ;)

I don't have dietary restrictions, so I eat back most of my calories. I just like new ideas for exercise.

You're "promoting" Zumba and yoga, but the simple fact is your results came from starving yourself. Doctor's supervision or not, that's still what it is. Normal people with normal diets and calorie deficits will not have anywhere near the same results, plus a lot of that weight lost is a massive amount of water, so when you adjust your calories back up a lot of it will come back. No key is bashing you personally, just pointing out to others that the way you achieved your results is unrealistic for other people.

I believe there is a whole special section called motivation and support.

You could've done 90 minutes of ANY cardio exercise with the incredibly low calorie diet you are on and had the same results.

Im not starving myself...I still eat and I eat a RAW Vegan diet that is Gluten free under the supervision of a nutritionist and a doctor. Once I lose the initial weight my workouts will be reduced with the same amount of calorie intake As I said, everyone is different. People lose weight at different rates. you guys are not familiar with my battles and challenges or my health conditions. Everyone has their own opinion , this was a success story for me. I posted it because I have worked hard to achieve MY results and I am proud of them. I posted the pictures because I am proud of what i have accomplished! Not to tell everyone they will look like me if they do Zumba. In my original post all is said was to do zumba and yoga and they will see results. Will they be as extreme as mine? Probably not, but its still encouraging healthy excersize. I never once encouraged anyone to be on the diet I am on with my level of activity. That is clearly written on my profile.
Your profile is private, so no one can see disclaimers.

And you really shouldn't tell people that they will see results if they do yoga and zumba under false pretenses. without the full story, you have made deceptive claims.

I just put my profile on private because of this. i didnt make deceptive claims. you are picking this apart to be something more than it is. I was posting MY success story. My own personal success. not yours or anyone elses... everyones results are different. Everyone has a different STORY. If I choose not to divulge my WHOLE entire medical problems on MFP , which i dont feel is anyones buisness but my own, then that is my choice. I was proud of my results. And I posted them. Simple as that.

What was the motive behind posting the success story though? If you just wanted to get it out, and have it be known, keep it to your profile or a blog so then your friends would know and say. You did a great job. When you put it out there, with as little background information as you provided, you are promoting what you did to succeed as a method for all who read it. That includes those who are brand new, and have no idea how anything works, and come to the success story boards for motivation and ideas about how to drop some serious poundage.

There is a section called motivation and support. When most people post a success story , it because they are proud of what they have accomplished and want to share it with others.

I couldn't find your response in that.. Please make sure you put it outside of all the previous quotes.

My apologies for nitpicking. In my professional career, I'm to nitpick everything. Because if I didn't scrutinize every last detail, I could kill someone. That's right. People put their lives in my hands on a daily basis.

Maybe next time, when you offer advice, make sure to put disclaimers. There's at least a dozen people who've replied, expecting results from doing exactly what you did. And who knows how many people are just lurking.

By posting beyond your accomplishments, you are promoting what you did to everyone whether or not that was your intent. Also, you are being contradictory. When you were first confronted about this posting, you said...
Ok first of all Im not promoting a low calorie Diet. I am promoting doing zumba and yoga, which has proven results....
Now you are asserting you just wanted to show everyone that you were successful and not promote what you did. It seems like you are just arguing and shifting what you said to save face now.

    Edited to fix quotes.

dont insult me. Im not stupid. I know what you are saying and I just dont agree. that doesn't make me dense and it doesn't mean im not listening. It just means my opinion is different than yours. that's your opinion! GREAT! You're entitled to it. you dont live my life, you dont live in my body and you dont have to face the issues I face. My doctor hasnt made a mistake. I have seen two different specialists in two different providers and they both have suggested me the same type of diet for my syndrome .

I don't see where anyone has picked you apart or personally attacked you. I see where they have brought some light to the potential inappropriateness of your OP, and tried to ensure that lurkers and noobs don't think VLCD diets and excessive exercise is a good method for weight loss.

There is a plethora of studies on VLCD that show this to be the case. I think all of those who have commented on your post that you feel are attacking you are trying to promote healthy weight loss vs .unhealthy weight loss.

I don't even disagree that Zumba is a good thing to do for weight loss. It basically boils down to calories in < calories out at a reasonable deficit. The methods that they use to burn the calories is up to them. If they wish to do it with Zumba, more power to them. I have even considered doing it myself when I get fried out on my Arc Trainer on cardio days. That being said, it doesn't really matters if you are doing Zumba, Body Pump, Water Aerobics, jogging, doing circuit training, or working on cardio equipment. As long as you burn a reasonable number of calories everyday, and are doing something you find fun and enjoyable so it will keep you interested and active, you are fine.

It's when you move beyond those reasonable limits that I begin to become concerned as a healthcare provider. There are dangerous ways to do these things and they are on both sides of the equation. There are people who have exercise buliima which hasn't even been discussed at all.

But i didnt tell anyone to eat 1200 calories a day. In my original post there was none of my diet even mentioned. Just to do Zumba.

In the community forum there is a section called motivation and support and another for Success stories. Was this successful for me and my situation. Yes. When most people post a success story , it because they are proud of what they have accomplished and want to share it with others .

Then do just that. A simple post stating. Here is where I was, and here is where I am now. Look at how much difference there was... {insert pics}...

People don't just glean their advice from one section of the forums. There are tons of people I have seen post that often say, "Stay out of this forum. That's where all the mean people are. If you want real advice, go to the Motivation and Support and the Success Stories Forums."

    Edited to fix quotes.

im not doing it to save face. Im being put under fire and being picked apart .Anyone who feels they are genuinely being attacked would do the same thing. I didnt say anything that I didnt mean.

No. That is true, but you did do it three posts in (it might have been 4.. I'm too lazy to go back and check), without even being asked about it. You just said. "1200 cals a day every day" (or something like that) when someone said... "great job!"

Anyway, I think you are getting hung up on feeling like I am personally attacking you. I am not. I am just saying, if you have specific medical advice that promotes something that might be dangerous to the general public working on their own, don't share the details, unless you share all of the details. By doing so, you are indirectly promoting an unhealthy lifestyle even if you are doing so inadvertently.

In your original post there were dramatically different progress photos taken weeks apart. The thread title was touting a certain number of lbs and inches in a very short time. All that even without talking about calories was eye opening and shocking enough to get you multiple "way to go's" and "i wish" statements that I'm surprised did not concern you since you had all the information about your low calories and unique PCOS situation and Dr's instructions behind the scenes. I know it looked shocking enough to quite a few people and those posting are only a handful who might have been reading, you have no idea how many lurkers jumped at the title alone, looked at your pics and are now desperately searching for HOW they can do it. Perhaps they stuck around to a couple pages where your low cals come into play and are off to the races. How few do you think will sift through this entire thread to find out about your disclaimers on your now private profile, and your special circumstances?

You can ignore everyone till all get out, but unfortunately there is no ignore button for the people who might stumble onto your thread as is and get unrealistic expectations and go around searching for some way ANY way to make it happen for them, because it happened for that one girl on the internet, I saw her pic's...it was REAL!

They can also use the report button to report a thread that promotes unhealthy advice. I am not a fan of the report button though I was tempted to use it tonight for the first time. I am guessing we are being ignored by the user now, so we will no longer have to respond to the OP is my guess.

ETA Unless we are quoted by someone she is not ignoring.

Have to agree with this. it's great you are working with doctors on this because otherwise it'd be a "Whoa! Scary" kind of thing. But if you are going to disclose you 1200 or less eating plan, etc , you need to disclose things like that you have a medical history, etc...because there are so many people (mostly younger to the point they shouldn't be on this site) that will see your success and your eating habits and mimic you. There are also people who are pro-ana lurking on this site and may decide to follow in your footsteps.

Most of the people are bringing this up in case there are those unaware or uneducated about nutrition, calorie goals, etc in order to make them aware that there were extenuating circumstances and they probably shouldn't do what you did.

The zumba did not produce the results, the caloric deficit did. Just FYI. Zumba works to burn cals sure and is good if it's something you enjoy to do, but unless you're in a caloric deficit, weight loss will not occur with or without zumba.
