Girl Scouts' Cookies

Beware, they are worst than potato chips. Especially, thin mints. They ruined my day today or did I have a great splendor that will happen again (next month?) to eat the other half of the box. Glad I only bought one. A little bit of humor to brighten your day!

I see what you mean about the protein. Surprisingly, they have about 10 times more sodium than sugar. I wouldn't have imagined that.

I am planning multiple binge opportunities over the next several weeks. As long as I plan ahead for them I will be fine LOL. Frozen thin mints are incredibly awesome.

I'm glad that I've never had a particular love of GSC. However, this time of year the chocolate marshmallow Easter eggs start appearing in the grocery store and I absolutely love those. (I buy all they have left after Easter when they're on clearance and eat them throughout the year).

The way I think of girl scout cookies is that they are no better than cookies on grocery store shelves year round. I don't need to feel that they are dangerous, special or exciting if I choose to buy some. I have not really felt like buying them with those thoughts though. (I am not anti-cookie. Homemade cookies fresh from the oven are awesome.)

If they are really troubling you share your box of cookies with other people. That way you get some but don't overdo it.

A couple weeks ago, I accidentally had a dinner of Girl Scouts Samoas... those are my favorite. I ate 600 calories worth. But the great thing about CICO is that I just accepted that that was my dinner for the day, and still stayed within my calories and still lost weight that week. Mmmmm Samoas

As a mom of a 5th year Girl Scout, I happily oblige in purchasing cookies from her. However I buy few if any other cookies throughout the year (though I will usually bake a lot for the Christmas holiday, however many of those are gifts). I also only purchase one box of the two varieties I like most (Samoas and Thin Mints), and get more of the others that the rest of my family enjoys.

As elizabethb8686 stated - CICO is the same whether you eat a box of cookies or you have a large salad with goodies on it.

The problem with Samoas is that they only sell them in single serving boxes.

Was looking for something in my freezer last night and came across a box of Samoas from last year. Not sure how that happened but I happily rearranged my dinner calories to fit 3 of them in.

Has anyone noticed a recipe difference in the Tagalongs this year? They have been my favorite since I was a kid, but this year they are way thinner, there is less peanut butter, and they now call the chocolate "a chocolatey coating."

Anyway I'm sad. Will stick to the s'mores variety from now on, or Thin Mints.

Oh no! Tagalongs are my favorite! Although if they made them worse maybe I could resist...

GS use two different bakeries which produce dramatically different cookies using the same names. It depends only upon the ZIP code of your supplier which version you get.

Is it possible that you're in a different region now and are getting the similar "Peanut Butter Patties" instead of the Tagalongs? Apologies if you already considered this.

I don't know any girl scouts, nor did I see any of them selling any, so I am cookie-less. I think people buy a ton of them because they only come out once a year and that makes them a special treat. In terms of quality, they are just a cookie and I can get better tasting cookies year around at a bakery. However, I still love Trefoils, and I'd gladly take a box if I can get my hands on one.

I love thin mints. But for me, a serving is one sleeve so I think I will need to take a pass this year.
