What things annoy you at the gym

Young women who treat the locker room like their high-school bedroom - clothes and cosmetics scattered everywhere, playing music or talking their phones.5

I can't see how a persons " swagger " or looking at themselves in a mirror would have any impact on me at all.
For real. Isn’t that the point of exercise to look great inside and out?
Devil’s advocate here - it would bother me if someone was taking photos in the locker room, which is what OP said. This is especially true after the incident with that (idiot) Playboy model who intentionally included a half naked woman in her locker room selfie.
LA Fitness has signs prohibiting taking photos and luckily I’ve never seen it being done.1 -
i don't understand how people looking in the mirror bothers you.
What bothers me is when men think they can come up to be and comment on my body without any invitation.
I don't like when people wear strong cologne near me. I find it hard to breathe properly and I get a headache.
I do not give a *kitten* what people do if it does not affect me.13 -
*kitten* music played at a volume too loud that you have to crank your headphones too loud to drown out the *kitten* music.3

You know what seriously bugs me? When on a hike, a popular hike I like to do, someone is not using earbuds but getting music from speakers so everyone can hear their poor choice of songs. Ugh7 -
When the Chef doesn't have the hot soup ready by the time I finish my workout.4
-
That one person who comes in to literally sneer and attempt a convo...this is the same type of person who seems legit upset at your progress but won’t work hard enough to achieve their goals. Like, please...grow up0

I don't like noisy people. I get people grunting when lifting heavy weights, and that is fine. But Im talking about the really loud people cheering each other on, talking to each other really loud in the weightroom. They act like they are 10 feets apart; but in reality they are right next to each other. You can tell they want the attention.
These people are annoying. I usually put my headphones on, turn the volume to max, and listen to "for whom the bells tolls " by Metallica. That takes care of it.8 -

Yes, and I think that is so rude. I had a guy listen to rap on his phone so everybody could hear. It is soo rude. Like he thinks it's his private gym or something. Turn that crap off.7 -

Also should be against the law. Can we start a petition about bad music choices during workouts?!3 -

For me, it's the looks I get from other patrons... yes, I'm fat, no I don't like it, yes, I see you staring, no, I don't like being stared at while sweat pours off me in buckets...12

What gyms do you guys go to where people are staring at you?

For real. I have never seen anyone at my gym "stare" at an overweight person.11 -

Yes it would also bother me if people where taking pictures of me while dressing ( that is why I included that part in my question of how it impacts the op )
yeah I was about to say isn't it illegal in some places to take photos in the locker room? my Y has a million signs up saying NO PHONE USE in bathrooms and locker rooms.3 -

For real. I have never seen anyone at my gym "stare" at an overweight person.
But I think that is psychological. Some people think everybody is staring at them when in reality they are not.
I look at everybody. Well, I scan the room and just observing people. I have never once had a negative thought seeing a fat person at the gym. That is the last place to judge people...really! My hubby is big. I seen people look at him briefly, never once a judgy or negative look.
At the gym, we are all in the same boat and all have a similar goal.
I have however seen people treat and stare at fat people outside of the gym. Like in restaurants.7 -

Yeah I thought everyone was looking at me when I was chunky. Turns out they weren't.8 -
1. There's a group of young guys (around 16) who come in after school. They work out in a group while one uses a machine the other sit on the surrounding machines and talk to him. Then they all swap positions until each have had a turn of the one machine. If they were each using the machine they were sitting on I really wouldn't care.
2. There is one man who lifts heavy and after each set claps and cheers himself. Literally EVERY time. I can hear it through my headphones and it gets old super fast.9 -
I'm not too focused on others at the gym, but there are a few things that drive me up a wall...
Leaving a sweaty machine
Not putting your weights or equipment away when you're done
Selfies in the locker room. Take as many as you want in the gym itself but respect people's privacy in the locker room! I only go in to the locker room to use the restroom and I go out of my way to put my phone out of sight. I feel like if I were naked in there, seeing someone with a phone out would make me uncomfortable.
Other than that, you do you and enjoy yourself in the gym!5 -
In the lanes at our pool you swim round clockwise (pool is split in 3 slow, medium and fast)
Now Mr ball's likes to swim in the slow lane up the middle on his back, legs open in very baggy shorts so the poor elderly ladies got an earful. When he added in the delightful addition of spitting water at the ladies he was banned
My other pet peeve is smells. Either those wearing half a bottle of aftershave/perfume or those wearing the same unwashed kit every day of the week0 -

My boss goes to the same gym as me and I have had a number of chats with him while he has been standing there butt naked. First time, I was sitting down getting changed and I heard my name called. He was standing right next to me when I looked up and around.....10 -
Glad my gym as individual locker rooms.
I have when people don't unrack after use so I can't use the equipment.0 -
I agree with quite a few of these. One thing that annoys me is that if you use a locker, close the damn door when you leave, don't just leave it wide open. Could be my OCD, could be the whole "were you born in a barn", but it's mostly common courtesy.4

I like to get in, get on and get out of the gym, so I get a bit peeved when girls are using the mirror and stop to check their messages and/or send a text so I have to wait longer. Please, do it in your own time... I also get irritated in life in general when people don't pick up after themselves, whether that's gym weights, tissues/cotton buds left on the side, or teabags in the sink at work. I'm not sure who they think is going to do it for them!2

Nudity is expected in a locker room. While drying off after showering be aware of your body position especially when bending over Nobody wants to come around a corner and be greeted by the brown eye.6
