I have to run on the treadmill, at least until the ice and snow go away and I can head back outside.....0

I'm ok with that as long as they have a buddy helping them out.
Seriously though, bandaids on the bottom of the pool are gross.
Agreed. I'll count how many are in my lane this afternoon for you.2 -

Runners who want to sprint on the treadmill, so you hear a loud pound-pound-pound-pound...go take that outside.
I'm confused. If I'm on the treadmill, why do I have less right to run fast than the guy next to me moving at a slow walk? It's my workout, if I want to train fast I don't see the problem.
Never in my life would I have thought that running on a treadmill would be something that was a gym annoyance . . . here I was feeling all happy that I wasn't being annoying (ahem, at least in this one small area of my life).
Yeah, I'm a heel-striker and make a definite thud with each landing. I had no idea I was violating treadmill etiquette.
You're good.1 -

Here's a new one for you - has anyone ever fallen asleep on a machine, and you had to get a gym employee to wake them so that you could use it?
I have never seen that, but I go to 24 hour fitness between 4:30 and 5:00 am and there was one guy who worked the overnight shift who was often sound asleep, sitting right in front at the reception desk.1 -
There is one thing I hate. That is the limited childcare hours my gym have. That's it. Once Im there Im focused in my workout and not my surroundings.0

I'm 5'3" with short arms and not much upper body strength, and I end up either going through comic contortions getting the pin out with my finger tips and not dropping the cable on my foot, or hanging around looking pathetic until a taller person looks available and I can ask for help.
I've never thought of this before. I leave it at the top after using it. It's not a pin but a lever and I bet you would have a tough time moving it.
I'll try to remember to move it back down after. Not for you, obviously, but yeah I can see how that would be considerate to others.
Bless you. I routinely have to scale the machine by climbing up on the hand holds to reach the pin. Then I can lower it half-way, jump down and lower it the rest of the way.
Another shortie annoyance involving the cable machine. The straight bar weighs more than the lowest plate, so if you are using it, you have to hold it up in order to move the pin to a different weight. When you are a shortie, you don't have the reach to both hold the bar up and move the pin at the same time.
Yes!
Another one, not shortie specific, is those purple who weigh down the knee pad on the assisted pull up machine with plates to do regular pull ups instead of just using the pull up rack. Then leave the plates there. So I have to figure out how to unload this thing without getting hit in the face with the knee pad when help isn't available.
Doesn't the knee pad fold down? ours does.

Yes it does but it doesn't stop people from doing this stupidity.0 -
There was a group of three or four guys that would scream and yell as they raised the weight on a dead lift and drop the barbell hard to floor from a distance of their knees. I think owner got so many complaints they were asked not to re up their membership because I have not seen or heard them in a month or two. Also, the guy that loves to wear his ear muff style music headphones and sing out loud to his favorite songs as he is rowing on the erg machine. Actually pretty funny listening to his version of the Police's Roxanne, reminded me of the Eddie Murphy movie.3

Everyone's opinion is valid because it's what bothers THEM.
It might not bother you but that's you and not them.
Please stop bashing individuals pet peeves.

That was me! But, I think your scenario is totally different and not at all annoying! When no one us around, who cares!! At my gym the locker room is always women in various stages if undress. I don't think I've ever seen it empty.
When I do get caught, I straight up tell them "I've recently lost a lot of weight and I'm proud of it and I want pictures to compare before and afters" I really don't care what they think lol
That's awesome!! And congrats on the loss!! Do people really confront you?! Even if it bugs me I would never tell them to stop, unless I was naked in the background haha! People have got to loosen up a bit![/quote]
if no one is around or in the background, that's fine, but if I'm in a state of undress (not just straight up naked) I don't want to be in the background of someone's picture.3 -

If people want to express their annoyance with others in public, it's perfectly okay for people to give an opinion back. That's not "bashing," it's just back-and-forth.
If your pet peeves are so precious to you that you don't want feedback on them, you can choose to keep them to yourself.8 -

I hate it when there is a line of about 6 bikes so i pick my favorite one, the rest are empty then enevitably someone comes and sits right beside me and tries to outpedal me. Ughhh drives me crazy- Like move down a bike already1

But the one next to you might be that person's favourite bike. If you can have a favourite why can't they?
And yes, I have a favourite treadmill at my gym and you bet I'm going to use it even if someone is on the one next to it.6 -

Agreed! The first couple of times I used the treadmill at the gym I'd spend the time stressing out if someone got on the one next to me when there were half a dozen other machines open. Then I realized that with all the machines facing a bank of tvs all on different channels, people are just wanting to plant in front of a show they like.

Yep. At my gym each treadmill has its own TV, but there is one where the TV doesn't work, so I avoid that one. And another one is stuck on the Kardashian channel. Strangely enough, that one is always available.1 -

Same.
I did that once at a gym; not because it was my favorite bike but so I could keep an eye on my car. Known fact that rates of theft are really high in gym parking lots.0
