I'm talking about nutrient dense foods, 200kcal of cookies that are "empty calories" are not the same as 200kcal of NUTRIENT DENSE FOOD.
I know I'm SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSO CRAZYYYY
In maintenance, if one is eating a varied diet and hitting their nutrition goals why is a cookie a problem? And why make a thread dictating to an entire board of people who are in maintenance what they should and shouldn't do?
Dude all I said was put the cookie down, and everyone wants to stone me, i was not aware cookies where people's sweet spot I mean weak spot
But why?
Because I HATE COOKIES OK

No offense to Sohee, but I find her pretty average.
Aww I think she looks pretty good.. I do love her look though so maybe that is why.1 -

You're right in that the typical pastry contains less fiber than the typical fruit. Although I often bake a delicious high fiber muffin that is packed with nutrients. But 500 calories really IS 500 calories. That's just basic physics.

I'm not shouting hold on let me catch my breath....kay all I am trying to point out is the difference, all of a sudden I'm such an evil person for doing so
You're not pointing out the proper difference. 500 calories = 500 calories. Get you an edumacation.1 -

I love when a brand new member comes to the community and tells all the people in maintenance how they need to eat in order to reach their goals...
I know this is hard to fathom but people can eat a balanced, nutrient dense and calorie appropriate diet, that includes cookies, pizza, and wine in moderation - and still achieve their goals. Even get shredded if that’s what they are going for. You should try it.10 -
50 miles of highway are not the same as 50 miles of two-track, either . . . except for the "miles" part.
So, if you're talking about how much my odometer reading will change when traversing either one, they're "the same".
Just as would be the case if we were talking about the difference on my scale if I ate 20,000 calories of cookies on top of maintenance calories, vs. 20,000 calories of apples on top of maintenance.
It would be harder to eat the apples than the cookies, probably (very filling, apples). It would be harder to drive on the two-track than the highway, probably (very bumpy and twisty, two-tracks). None of that difficulty affects the miles or the calories respectively, though.
Confusing "things" with one abstract measurement of a single property of those "things" . . . that's fuzzy thinking.
ETA: And "cookie calories" is a synecdoche, besides.

You know a researcher lost a bunch of weight eating nothing but twinkies, and his health markers improved too - look it up!
I've lost 118 lbs, gotten off diabetes meds, and reduced my A1c to 4.7 from 11, and while my blood sugar doesn't allow me to eat very many pastries, I do have them within my carb and calorie allowance, and I eat other foods such as dark chocolate every day. By the way, on the opposite side from cookies you mentioned bananas - one of the few fruits I can't eat a whole one of without putting my readings into the danger zone. I can only manage half a banana at a time, give me a modest-sized cookie over a banana any day! But there are plenty of non-diabetic people out there, and even some diabetics, who have no reason not to eat bananas. The key is to know your own needs and meet them in a way suited to your own tastebuds.2 -

But you can get shredded "to the bone" eating cookies if you want to.
I'd rather spend calories on vegetables than a banana or apple....2 -

You put down the cookie if that's your thing.

Cookies may give you a soft, pudgy gut, but I have a properly functional body that uses the energy from cookies and from bananas identically, and doesn’t store fat when it’s in a deficit.
Do you have some kind of medical problem or food intolerance? Maybe you’re bloating from the sodium? It’s a good thing you’ve come to the MFP forums for help, we can help you figure out the issue.
For starters, I can tell without even looking at your diary that you’re going way over your RDA of woo.11 -

@alexrosader given that you have logged a total of 1,070 Cal, 4g of Carbs, 57g of Fat, 133g of protein, 1g of sugar and 2g of Fiber in 3 months, I can only conclude that you are:
-a. severely constipated due to lack of fiber
AND
-b. either very hangry, or in a famine induced delirium due to lack of calories
It is time to break into the emergency cookie jar my friend. Before your excess deficit kills off your last remaining brain cells!
