This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
4/18 138 Busy day today! Half day meeting today, community bingo tonight, and packing for the weekend. Leaving EARLY tomorrow for my 50 year high school reunion. 4 days away with no scale.
4/19 138 Weighed at 4AM instead of 6:30-ish. Good day yesterday. Already in the air and will try to post from the Baltimore airport.
4/20 No scale
4/21 No scale Awesome day helping the reunion committee and re-meeting many old acquaintances at a bar owned by one them. Great start to a fun weekend.
4/22 No scale Having a great weekend!
4/23 (7:12AM ET) Everyone is gone so I was exploring our little house and discovered a scale in the second bathroom. It is a Tanita and says I weigh 135.8. Now I’m curious to see what mine says tomorrow. Posting really late but have been on the move all day! When I got home at about 7PM PT my scale said 137.5.
4/24 136.5 on MY SCALE I’ll take it! Down 1.5# during a party weekend at THIS age! Here’s my secret-I took what I needed to make my BPC to start the day right, I offered to help where needed causing me to totally miss the appetizer table, made food choices appropriate to my meal plan, didn’t overindulge in adult beverages. One tequila shot (Friday) and one vodka soda each, Friday and Saturday.
4/25 136.5 Below initial goal but continuing on. I am thrilled. Cruising in 10 days. I CAN DO THIS!
4/26 135.5 Allergies!
4/27 137 ALLERGIES! Last night out to dinner with friends. Had a wonderful steak. Did not drink enough water.7 -

R38 goals - to stay focused, log everything, drink my water and stay on track - aiming for a 136lb or below finish....
4/18 -136.60 down 1.0lb. guessing my usual post weekend "whoosh". My aim for this round is to keep it here or below and stay focused....... Happy with the start though
4/19 - 137.30 up 0.70lb - TOM imminent and bloated - not helped by late evening munchies last night (fairly healthy munchies of houmous and breadsticks - but was late last night) . Still down on the round start so far though
4/20 - 136.90 down 0.40lb - up down up down ..... TOM due and its now the weekend ........ I am feeling positive at the moment Must keep up the water (hot here at the moment for the UK in April anyway!) but I did discover 50 calories mini soleros at my local M&S Today - it was lovely!
4/21 - 136.6 down 0.3 yay!! Good day planned today food wise and a 20mile or so bike ride too so here's hoping....
4/22 - 136.60 - holding ....
4/23 - 138.60 - up as usual on a Monday but happily my "lowest" Monday high for a long while which I'm happy about esp at TOM imminent. Nothing I know of this week that should see me being led off track so should be a good finish Friday..... giving blood tonight so hoping that will mean I weigh less tomorrow if only ....
4/24 - 137.0 - usual Tuesday morning drop - still hopeful for a 136 finish by Friday .... Food prepped, water bottle refilled and gym tonight ..... Repeat after me - I CAN DO THIS, I CAN DO THIS, I CAN DO THIS .....
4/25 - 137.20 +0.20lb - up a it but ate later than normal last night and "TOM imminent" bloated-ness. Two more weigh ins and so want to be 136 - even 136.90 will do ...... Although if not this round, I'm sure I'll reach it next round as so close now..... Definitely losing slower now I weigh less but so much happier in my clothes and my confidence levels Would still like to lose a bit more though
4/26 - 138.0 +0.80lb - stern word needed with my body today. Not happy this morning as feel its completely unjustified - can only out put down to TOM bloat (which has still not arrived - after the last few erratic months I am beginning to think that the menopause is starting - more joys eh ?). Oh well - will carry on eating to plan and let the scales read what they feel as any water retention/bloat will only be temporary
4/27 - DNW - day off work and totally forgot until after breakfast - although they way this round went probably better not to! Disappointed with this round - was all going so well.... Food today so far been ok so back on it tomorrow - fresh start with a new round5 -
So after vacation, SO home for 6 weeks, not keeping up with JGM10 and super busy and stressful at work. I'm up a few pounds. Some will be water weight and drop off rather quick (I hope). Goals to meal prep, stay around 1500 calories and 15,000+ daily steps.

4/18--vacation
4/19--vacation
4/20--223.9 Just got back from vacation. Only a 3lb gain. Walked a lot and tried kayaking for the first time. Back at it today.
4/21--223.7 Was so tired yesterday. Did not drink a lot of water and did not eat that great. Going hiking this morning and out for dinner later today.
4/22--222.0 Went on a hike yesterday. There goes some of the vacation water weight. Working on getting water in today.
4/23--220.9 There goes the rest of the water weight.
4/24--220.0 Going in the right direction.
4/25--220.4 Slight bump. Kettlebell tonight.
4/26--219.7 Surprised about the drop considering I went to kettlebell yesterday after a 2 week absence, but I will take it.
4/27--220.9 I knew before I stepped on the scale that I would be up. Woke up sore from my kettlebell workout 2 days ago and from my chiro adjustment yesterday, so was expecting the water gain. This round was a success in that after I got back from my vacation I was able to get right to my eating plan. The diet break really helped me mentally. Kettlebell tonight.
Total weight loss: 3 lbs

4/18 / 237 / Under calories yesterday. I'm back to getting at least some activity in every day, but my knees are starting to bark a bit.
4/19 / 236 / Within calories again by a smidge. I stuck with just my home-to-work and back walking rather than adding anything else to see if my knees feel better. So far, so good. Working from home today, so I'll have the flexibility to do whatever I choose!
4/20 / 236.8 / Weighed myself two hours earlier than yesterday, so I'm not at all bothered by the tick upward. I bounced on the trampoline last night and was able to go 8 minutes straight. This probably doesn't sound like much to y'all, but that thing kicks my butt! When I first got it, I could go about 2 minutes, then pause, then another 2 minutes, etc. After bouncing, I did stationary bike for another 13 minutes and called it good. Going to a baseball game tonight, which is hard with Celiac. I need to eat beforehand, but sometimes the timing makes that tricky.
4/21 / 235.6 / I like it! My knee is unhappy. I will take a couple of rest days.
4/22 / 239 / Wow. I had pho yesterday but 3.4 pounds gained? Bodies is weird.
4/23 / 237.6 / Back on the downswing after my catastropho.
4/24 / 236.4 / Still heading back down. Today is my birthday!
4/25 / 237 / Had a good birthday, but my allergies are flaring up, or it's a cold. Bah.
4/26 / 236.6
4/27 / 235.4 / Close to my goal of 235, but not quite!

@quiltingjaine @marcvb35 I hadn't planned to go to my reunion either but changed my mind a few months ago. I'm so glad i did! I was "overweight" at 125 in high school but looking back at the few candid shots I have, I really didn't appear to be. I'll be happy at or below 135.
I would go regardless of my weight if there was a 30 year reunion. remember I didn't even know I was chubby and still cant tell much of a difference in the mirror.1 -

Ate a salty restaurant lunch yesterday - first in 6 months! and over calories for for the first time in Months, but walked & forgave myself & put it in perspective- 200 calories over won’t “break the bank!” Pleased with this weight.
My important lesson, that I re-learned is my “addiction” is eating out. Back to only eating at home, happily, as I know it 1)insure my success, 2) makes me Healthier by far, 3) I’m happiest when I know what I’m eating and can track it accurately, 4) I feel physically much better, and 5) I’m happier!!!

Day/Weight/Comment
4/18 = 200.4 (-1.6). WHOOSH™. Day 2 of Keto was again just fine. 21 net carbs, slightly under protein goal, slightly over in calories. Generally feeling okay so far. Yesterday was better than the day before. My wife is going to a training for 2 days, so I get to live the bachelor life until Thursday night.
4/19 = 199.2 (-1.2). WHOOSH again!!! Day 3 of Keto went pretty well, even after having half a banana early in the morning (40% of my daily carbs). I was right on target with my macros. I'm enjoying the scale, but I think this is pretty normal for Keto (not 100% sure). SL 5x5 and basketball tonight. I'll be interested to see what my energy level is like at this point.
4/20 = 196.8 (-2.4). Another WHOOSH™!!! I'm about 6 points away from my lowest weight in 25 years. Keto Day 4 was great! I had berries and whipped heavy cream for dessert last night, a little bit of dark chocolate during the day, and was still under calories. I am recognizing the need to be a little careful about indulging sweets. I was a little high in protein, but other macros were on point. 5.2 lbs in 3 days. Is this normal Keto stuff? I'm not complaining, but I didn't expect things to be moving so quickly.
4/21 = 196.0 (-0.8). I'm going to stop naming whatever this is for right now. No I'm not. Any other day this would be a WHOOSH™, so that's what it is. I'm 1 lb away from what I labeled my Ultimate Goal Weight, but that's so clearly not where I'm going to stop that I'm changing it right now. I want to be under 190 (at least). For the first time, maybe ever, I'm not afraid of the weekend. Thanks Keto! And thanks for the funny weight loss streak too! Keto is really working for me; I've been tested numerous times with sweets so far, and they don't motivate me more than reaching my goal does! Good luck to everyone this weekend!
4/22 = 196.2 (+0.2). This may sound weird, but I'm happy to have a day without a loss; I was a little worried my streak would never end. Things are still going well with Keto Day 6. I was out with friends for lunch (they had dessert), had dinner with parents (had to make my own food at their house), and it wasn't hard to stick with my plan. I'm working most of the day today, and there's a dinner tonight for my brother-in-law's birthday. I'll find something I can eat at the Italian restaurant we're going to.
4/23 = 197.0 (+0.8). I've definitely come back to Earth regarding the rapid initial loss from Keto, and I'm glad. I ate out at a family-style Italian restaurant for my brother-in-law's birthday. I got a little bit of gentle teasing from my sister-in-law, but stuck to plan for the most part (half a bite of mango mousse cheesecake, and a tiny sip of 3 different drinks). Regardless, gaining 1 lb over the weekend is a good result for just about any weekend. The bad news is that my lower back had been killing me since Friday. Lucky for me I'm so busy this week that I couldn't have played basketball even if I wanted to. I need to visit my chiro. My weight is likely stuck because of my back; it's hard to #2 when it hurts to flex my abs or lower back muscles. Sorry for the TMI! I'm happy if I can just maintain through the end of this challenge.
4/24 = 196.0 (-1.0). BOUNCE BACK™. I'm at Keto Day 8, and it's still working out pretty well. Hit my macros right on the head, and I'm starting to incorporate more leafy greens and healthy stuff into my diet. Until now the only healthy thing I've been ingesting consistently has been avocado. I've been a little funky regarding sweets; I'm making sure that, if I have some carbs left at the end of the day, I'm using them, and I'm using them on dark chocolate or blackberries and heavy whipped cream. I'm not sure if this is good, okay, or really bad. My back is killing me. I know I shouldn't be at work, but there's a goodbye lunch for one of my co-workers, and I'm going to try to make it until then (2 hours away at the time of writing this). When that's over, it's off to Urgent Care (to get the appropriate meds), then home for the afternoon and likely all day tomorrow to rest, ice, and hopefully recover. I'm hoping this pain is relatively short-term (it always has been), and that I can get back to the gym/basketball next week (even if it's at a reduced intensity).
4/25 = 196.0. No change from yesterday re: weight, but a little change regarding my back pain (25% improvement). I could tie my shoes this morning (with effort), so I decided to come to work. I got some prescription-strength ibuprofen from the doctor, as well as a muscle relaxer (for when I get home), so at least I know I'm doing what I can medication-wise. Food-wise, I made it through the day/night last night without chocolate or berries, so that was a NSV as well. Under my carb goal, slightly over on protein yesterday. I'm really hoping my back gets better soon.
4/26 = 196.2 (+0.2). Kind of a blah day yesterday. Had a potluck at work for lunch, and was able to eat a grilled chicken breast and guacamole. I was fine with it, but I think some of my coworkers were a little bit shocked by my eating. Too bad. My back is 75% better than it was, which is great. I feel like I'm on-track to get back to exercising by Monday or so. I was under calories yesterday, under carbs, but went over my protein goal by a few grams and didn't take in nearly the fat I usually do. I'm hoping that my improved back/reduced pain will help to "get things moving" in my body. The pain/inflammation meds have not been helping this process, I think.
4/27 = 196.8 (+0.6). I had my first "cheat moment" (not even a meal). I had dinner last night: arugula salad (no dressing, picked off beets, fruit, etc.), roasted chicken breast (no real sauce on it), and water (was free alcohol at this shindig). I made it through unscathed, until this guy came around and offered one of two desserts: mini cheesecake (not even tempted) and little round chocolate mousse/truffle thing. My wife wanted to try both, so I got the chocolate mousse thing. I'm not sure it was even that good, but it sure the fudge tasted like it last night. It was small. I had maybe 1/3 of it. But I'm 100% sure it put me over my carb goal for the day (I estimated I was at 36g of carbs). I feel fine this morning, so I don't think it was a complete disaster, but my experience was just more proof of how much of a sugar addict I am. It took all of my willpower just to move my unfinished plate out of my face. I'm still happy with my results this week (I'M IN ONEDERLAND!!!). I'm really hoping to be able to exercise by Monday (back is holding at 75% better). Not being active sucks.

Round 38 - STARTING LATE! Goal = maintain blind while traveling away from scales!
4/18 - at Zion NP, 24,000 steps and under calories, Watchman trail with 380 ft elevation gain
4/19 - at Zion NP, 26,000 steps and I think over calories by 200 or so, dang trail mix! Hidden Canyon trail with 850' elevation gain. It's easy to get lots of steps when the bathroom is 350 steps away.
4/20 - Lots of car time this day, no significant walking. Almost 10K steps, over calories by 200 or so, just not watching as carefully as I could or logging as carefully as I could. Feeling great though and super strong.
4/21 - stepson's wedding! Lovely day. I bet I was over calories. Really no way to track so I will call it a 2500 calorie day and be done. 10K steps.
4/22 - Hiked 8 miles at 6500 feet in Kolob Canyons, lovely day! Over calories though. Honestly have stopped worrying.
4/23 - traveling. Drove 525 miles, not many steps! Over cals and not worried.
4/24 - traveling to home, the final 250 miles.
4/25 - 128.0 weigh in! That's 1.4 up in two weeks, no worries, counting resumes today.
4/26 - 127.0 - yesterday under steps, over calories, just taking a while to get stabilized and back into the routine.
4/27 - 127.4 - yesterday under steps, over calories, exhausted and went to bed at 6:30PM. Slept 12 hours!!! It rocked!!
R38 * Start = n/a * Ave = 127.5 * Min = 127.0 * End = 127.4
See you next round friends!8 -
@quiltingjaine @marcvb35 I hadn't planned to go to my reunion either but changed my mind a few months ago. I'm so glad i did! I was "overweight" at 125 in high school but looking back at the few candid shots I have, I really didn't appear to be. I'll be happy at or below 135.
I would go regardless of my weight if there was a 30 year reunion. remember I didn't even know I was chubby and still cant tell much of a difference in the mirror.
I'm just not going to my 30th because it's my birthday and have other plans.3 -
#37: 142.6 - 137.4 = -5.2
Day/Weight/Comment
4/18: 137.4, now the real work begins. On target yesterday and holding steady.
4/19: 138.8, darned pickles! I never realized how much sodium they have. Also indulged in 1 Reese’s peanut butter cup (regular size). Calories were within deficit and my macros were decent. Proof that salt and sugar make me retain water.
4/20: 135.4, must be dehydration from last night’s wine. Food was on target, but a little over in calories due to my pinot indulgence.
4/21: 136.8, back to normal hydration. On target for calories and macros yesterday.
4/22: 137.8, birthday party potluck. I’m thinking too much sodium and definitely the wine is reflected in my weight.
4/23 136.8, I’ll take it! On track yesterday with food. Still not drinking enough plain water, I prefer mineral water so I tend to drink that instead.
4/24: 136.8, it was the Klondike bar...
4/25: 136.8, deficit in calories yesterday, macros were off; too much sugar and fat
4/26: 136.8, again...
4/27: 136.8, It’s all good; staying in the right direction.6 -
SW 235 lbs
GW 170 lbs
4/18 - 240.75 lbs - pretty good first day, ran/walked/shuffled four miles home from work. Ate the last of the Easter egg for dessert
4/19 - 236.75 - I'm guessing that 4 pound loss is all water - I got such a bad headache after my run last night. must drink more water!
4/20 - 236.25 - Lovely day this morning so I biked to work for the first time in a month. Going to try to bike 3x per week over the spring and summer!
4/21 - 236.5 - bit of a lazy stay at home day today. Went over calories by about 300 calories after afternoon tea at a friend's house, but these things happen!
4/22 - 235.5 - lovely sunny day here, went for a walk along the beach and got a small ice-cream cone. Definitely eat better on the week days! Still have dinner to go and want to do a short run tonight. Hope everyone is having a great weekend
4/23 - 235 - got super lazy and hungry after my run last night, so we got a takeway kebab (chicken shish so not totally the devil) and chips. Still managed to eat under my calories though whoop whoop Running home from work tonight.
4/24 - 234 - Suprised that I lost weigth again today - becaus eit was pizza night in my house - but I was still under calories by 500 after running home. Not sure how much of this weeks weight loss is just water weight?
4/25 - 238 - Hmmmm...gaining 4 pounds was a surprise haha! I knew losing so much in a week must have just been a water weight! I've really only started eating better and exercising this week, so my body is probably adjusting itself. No problem! Today I was working from home (the fridge is only 20 steps away at anytime!) I went a bit crazy at lunch, but just got back from a run, so still under my calories.
4/26 - 237.5 - forgot to post yesterday.
4/27 - 238.25 - I have eaten everything in sight the last couple of days. I have absolutely no will power when I wok from home. I did go for a run today....but it wasn’t nearly enough to counteract the amount of calories I ate. Oh well, will have to try and re-set my mind next week.6 -

So happy for you! I'm looking forward to ONEDERLAND. Lol. That always tickles me. I'm closing in. Also, I really hate not being active. I have been active all my life until injuries put a stumbling block in my path. Good to hear that your back is improving!

Round 2 for me. Time to ring the bell.
R37 Start 311.6 End 307.4 (-4.2)
R38: Start 307.4 End 309.8 (+2.4)
Day/Weight/Comment
4/18 306.6 (-0.8) (Found myself wishing for a day in between rounds so I could eat "fun" foods. But then realized it's my choice to work on losing weight -- just like it was my choice to eat all those "fun" foods that helped me gain weight.)
4/19 306.6 (-0.8) (A couple of temptations through the day and gave it to one. Tracked it and forgot it. Early in the fight for this round. Keep focusing and we'll make it)
4/20 307.4 (0.0) (Sodium - my nemesis. Time for Friday Focus time and Weekend Workouts)
4/21 307.6 (+0.2) (Ready for the weekend -- warm weather -- outside yard time -- lots of steps)
4/22 308.0 (+0.6) (Frustrated. Eating poorly. In a funk. -- I thought losing weight is easy -- just kidding)
4/23 308.8 (+1.4) (AAARRRGGGHHH!!! Ok, got that out of my system. This is where I would normally quit. I can't quit. So my other choice is to go forward. Keep tracking, keep working out.)
4/24 308.0 (+0.6) (Ok, ok, stay on track. We got this. Three days to get back to starting weight and make a little progress.)
4/25
4/26
4/27 309.8 (Completely fell apart. Wheels came off. Spectacular crash. -- shake it off, re-evaluate what caused the crash and get back on track for Round 39. See everyone on the flip side).12 -
I'll join you for round 39, since this is the last day! Love this.8

WOOOOSAAAAAH Deep breath. Yes, evaluate. DO NOT throw in the towel! This weightloss journey can be so frustrating at times, but just keep on talking out those frustrations and not eating them. Give it a few days and your weight will correct.7
