@lporter229 LOL!! Speaking of dances, it looks like @cburke8909 is about to bust a move!

My grand plans for a 9 mile run last night were a bust. We went to my son's soccer game, storms came through. Rule is, they can't play until 30 minutes after the last seen lightning strike. After an hour wait, they canceled the game, just before a torrential downpour. Temps dropped from low 90's to upper 60's.

I did think about running home anyway, I was excited about the prospect of a rain run, particularly since it cooled off, but there was just too much lightning to risk it. Dangit!

No run tonight, but I'll try to squeeze one in tomorrow before we get the boat ready to sail.

@katharmonic-You definitely win the photo contest. I have had some really bad race photos, but nobody has ever caught me trying to take a drink on the fly. I don't think there is a way to make that look pretty.

@7lenny7- Forgive me for this, but it looks like you are doing a "chicken dance" Ultra!

I went ahead and purchased my photos from Boston last year, the only time I have ever done so, mostly because I wanted the finish line photo. There were a few pre-race photos at that athlete's village and my finishers photo where I am smiling ear to ear, but other than that, every photo looks like this was the most miserable day of my life!

I bought a photo from my first half. I ended up getting the after finish line backdrop one. I'll probably do the same for my first marathon.

I had planned a long run this morning taking my daughters old pup (Gatsby) for at least part of it. Gatsby kept us up a good portion of the night with doggy anxiety after the smoke alarms went off in the hotel (twice!). So the long run didn't happen and ended up being a walk along the marina with the husband with me running as much as possible with Gatsby back and forth until he just didn't want to run any more. It was still nice getting out and hopefully the exercise along with another walk this evening will help us all sleep better tonight assuming there are no more alarms going off.

@7lenny7 Love the flyin' knuckles! I have a 5k coming up and plan to try that out

@Elise4270 excellent! I'd love to see it.

I wish the photographer would have caught me flying down the hill with my airplane wings.

I've posted this before, but I'm going to post it again. This is my favorite race photo! It's from last year at Zumbro when I ran the 17 mile race.

MAY GOALS, REHAB SMART, 10 hours of activity for the month. Work up to 3 minutes of running and 10mpw.

    4---30 minutes stationary bike.
    4---68 minutes, 3.46 miles walk
    5---30 minutes bike, 7.25 miles
    5---22 minutes, 1.70 miles PT run 15(1,1)
    7---20 minutes, 1.44 miles (2,2)
    8---30 minutes, 2.14 miles 7(2,2)
    11---30 min mtn bike, 4.29
12---30 min 2.35 miles PT run (2,2 ish)
    12---30 min bike, 6.61 miles
    12---80 min walk, 4.5 miles
    15---64 min, 4.62 5(2,1-3,2-2,1) PT run
    17---65 minute walk, 3.45 miles
    18---28 min swim
    18---60 min walk, 2.92 mi
18---46 minutes, 6.25 miles mtn bike
    20---65 min, 4.72 miles 5(2,1-3,2-2,1) PT run
    23--- 57 min, 2.76 min walk
24---43 min mtn bike ride, 5.93 miles.
    25---66 min, 4.75 miles 5(2,1-3,2-2,1) PT run

Run seemed so hard. I keep telling myself that I needed to slow down, but noooo we're working on form and the only way I know to do that is the almost butt kick, which is speedy. So my target pace of 10min/mile (6.2min/km) was 8-9.5 (5-5.9min/km). No wonder I was struggling.

    826 minutes/38.81 miles

    Upcoming Races
    June 1 GOTR 5K
October 14th Spirit of Survival Lawton OK. Quarter Marathon
    March 31, 2019 A2A Undecided distance
April 28, 2019OKC Memorial Marathon (half)

@Elise4270 I hear you. I can't run at a really comfortable pace without feeling like my form is breaking down. I guess that is why it feels harder most of the time I try to go for a long easy run. The same distance at a slow pace feels harder. But I know I can't do a full marathon at my normal comfortably hard pace. Don't think a run/walk would work either because I never feel like running after I stop to walk.
Ugh, whoever thought running could be so hard

I'm still doing PT runs/return to running program. I try to remember how the surgeon wants me to run, knees up short steps, bouncy, using the glutes. My gait needs so much improvement... (I should do my PT more often so when I complain I've done my part). If I get lazy with my form, I'll be in pain.

    Thanks for the support!

    Total 59.36 miles

Today was my "hill" repeat day. I forgot to take a picture of my hill to show you so you can laugh at my ridiculously flat neighborhood. I didn't plan my warm-up run timing correctly so my first repeat was not on an incline. Then I realized there wasn't an easy way to get where I wanted to go because in my head I was on the other side of the incline. I had to walk down the landscaping. 4:30 am is not my friend when it comes to thinking and speed work. I've done something to jack it up every time!

Tomorrow I have my last race until fall. It's a 5k and starts at 6:30 am. I plan to just take it easy and *try* to stick to my training run. It's a trail run but on the competitive track so I have no clue what the route/elevation will be. The beginner's loop is like 2.8 miles and the advanced is over 9 so not sure how a 5k is coming out of that. It appears it switches back and forth from the different loops.

Did two miles last night, tried to run a little bit faster than previous snail's pace and ended up doing 11 minute miles, which is still sorrowful - before I got injured I was doing 8 minute miles - but better than the 14 minute miles I was doing a couple days earlier. I have to keep reminding myself not to push it.
