What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

Feel beautiful and confident in my wedding dress. One year away to get there12

My aunt always jokes that once women get to a certain age, they all end up shaped like potatoes. This is a pretty spot-on observation in my family. I will stop the cycle of obesity and inactivity- I refuse to ever end up looking like a potato.
I have a close friend who has always been in great shape and looks good in everything she wears, even when she was pregnant at age 36. I want to be able to just throw on whatever is in my closet and look as good as she does.
Also... Dresses and shorts. I have always struggled with wearing them because showing my legs was a no-go, aaaaaand chaffing. I live in Florida. I really need to be able to get some air and sun on these legs!14 -
💪Better sex
💪To not be the fat sister
💪To show my MIL that you don't have to have surgery to do it 🙊
Other than that my reasons are basic. Health, looks, energy and being an active mom.12 -
So I posted on here a while ago that one of my petty reasons was to be light enough for my guy friends to pick me up off the ground.
Well, just recently, I was playing beer pong and I sunk a ton of shots in a row and my partner (6'2" guy, lol) got so excited he picked me up and swung me around.
I'm just gonna say that the petty reason was totally worth it, and if that's what motivates you than keep at it31 -
I have so many petty reasons to lose weight that it's unbearable.
From being cheated on multiple times
To being verbally abused by family members
I'm just telling you one thing: I promise that when I strut in to the annual 4th of July party this year, I'm going to be the best looking me there ever was, and the people I want to stick it to will be eating their words.23 -
I know that many of us choose to lose weight because we want to have a healthy lifestyle and feel better about ourselves, but c'mon, we also have "I'm going to stick it to X" reasons.
For me, it's because I don't want to be the fat gay cousin. I want to be the hot gay cousin. I also want people's minds to be blown when I can lift heavy boxes by myself.
What's yours?
Other than getting into my 30s and wanting to get/stay in shape for health reasons....I got dumped by my live-in boyfriend of two years back in June. I know I’ll run into him some day, hoping to be at my goal weight when I do.5 -
I go to an event every summer where I run into the same a**holes I've known since high school. I've already won the game of life with my amazing career and partner, I'd like to also look smoking hot as the icing on the cake.
Petty? Absolutely. But seriously, these guys were (and still are) THE WORST18 -

Not looking like a potato was also my motivation...My family is staying relatively thin and I was the potato. No more.10 -
Need to be strong, flexible, fit and healthy ...and really want to look good with my husband who gets sexier as he gets older. lol I have fallen off the wagon over the past 6 months but starting today -I'm back!15

I was badly bullied as a child for being heavy and lost it as a young adult. Then I went back and forth over my adult years until I was seriously obese.
My husband never says. you're beautiful. A man I liked asked me, "What is it like to be undesirable?" I was mad, hurt, humiliated but I kept contact because I wanted to show him my value is not what I look like.
I no longer live near this ding ding, but I want to look hot and see him one day and basically say, "F U". How bad fat girl movie is that? I guess I am the Chief Petty Officer here.
And when I say hot I mean hot. I work out super hard for it. When I get to my goal. I probably won't care. I was a model in New York when I was young...I'm attractive but not proud of my body naked. I really want to be my best. More therapy needed. More gym. Less pie.37 -

That guy who said that sounds like a toad. Seriously who would say such a thing to another human being? I’m so mad for you and sorry you had to deal with that.15 -
Sadly, there are many toads in this world. They have no filter and no clue whatsoever. I swear some people never aged past 2 years old. The best revenge is doing exactly what thinmarjo is doing!! And good luck because you are doing exactly that!!!!4

I want clothes to look amazing on me. I don´t want to look average.11

I'm tired of being invisible. Not being seen by doctors. Not being seen by my husband. Not being seen as worthy of taking up space on the planet. Some of y'all get it. I've already noticed that every 10 lbs I lose, I get more respect. Being overweight sucks. It's not simply a health matter. It's an emotional one, too. I have a great support team now that I didn't have before. And I'm doing it for me.31
-
@smithcentral, there is absolutely nothing petty about not wanting to be invisible. HUGS! Unfortunately I know exactly what you mean. People see size and dismiss. It's not only cold , it's rude and hurtful. We are more than our size. You can do this!!9

Sifting through ALL of the clothes to find anything that camouflages the mummy tummy is really beating up my self esteem. So I’ll say my petty reason is that dressing with ease would be nice.13
-
Well, I'm incredibly vain now and I used to have really bad self esteem issues. So I guess that's petty.

My petty reason is to prove I didn’t just let myself go forever. I lost my way when i had a very rough situation and I people got used to me being a slob.
I want to look and feel even better than I did in my 20s. I also want to enjoy shopping and looking great just for myself!14 -
To feel attractive again I guess18
-
I want the confidence. I’ve lost around 50lbs and I feel my confidence rising already. The feeling of the clothes that use the be tight and are now baggy. I will not let weight get the best of me. I quit smoking easily when I wanted to, I have no problem with self control in other areas of my life and I’ll be damned if food is going to get the best of me. I’m too hard headed and in control for that. I am a strong woman and I will be successful.20

I probably mentioned this a while back but I'd like to fit into regular-width boots. I'm in a healthy weight range and my calves are still too wide, but it's getting close. I'm hoping these last 20 will do the trick. If not, welp, at least it's a petty reason lol.14

Let's get this back on the petty track:
My brother apparently started trying to lose weight a while back without telling anyone. He got all defensive when he saw my weight loss. Made a comment how he's lost about as much as I have. My dad knew the actual numbers and sarcastically replied, "Yeah 30 pounds is really close to 45 pounds." I've also been dieting for about half the time he claims he's been doing it. So petty reason is proving that my brother can't even lose weight as well as I can.14 -
My husband told me that it would be impossible for me to lose 40lbs at my age (31 ) sooo I'm proving him wrong and losing 60! He wasn't being malicious or anything, he just really thought that was true LOL!16

Lol I def lost 40 at that dear old age of 31. I'd say it was actually easier than in my 20's because of ~experience~13 -

I'm almost at 30lbs now hahah. Can't wait to hit 40lbs and be like, "What was that you were saying?!" hahah8 -
Just so I can be one day be "that dad" when dropping my girls off at school and activities
Some of the posts here aren't very "petty" I don't think? Feeling attractive is definitely a self confidence thing and very important for example. I'm not sure anything that can drive a person to make a lifestyle change is ever really petty in nature.16 -
New petty reason... I volunteer with a local agency, and my ex husband has just applied to join the same agency in the next town over. We frequently assist each other on things, which means if they accept him I could end up seeing him quite often, so now I am determined to lose the last few pounds I have been struggling with so when I have to show up on calls and see him, I will feel hot AF walking around.
I honestly want him to get his *kitten* together and make something with his life, but that doesn't stop me from also wanting him to maybe feel a little bit of that "why did I *kitten* that up again?" feeling.14 -
- Going through lesbian bed death and gaining almost 30 pounds since the start of my current relationship has me all up in my feelings and insecurities.
- Reflecting on the physical and mental state that I was in with past partners, when I was almost 60 lbs lighter. And the embarrassment I'd have if people from my past saw me today.
- Used to be the skinnier sister. Now I far surpass my family members.
- Because I'm literally over double of my girlfriend's weight and it *kitten* disgusts me.
