@mbaker566 - what a perfect name Rufus is for that little guy! I hope a new foster family is available soon to help you out with them! Most all of our pups have been pound puppies or abandoned pups. My daughter did get a Lakeland terrier that was the last of the litter and no one wanted. Of course Hobbes is not a mutt or a pound puppy but I specifically wanted a Vizsla and you don't typically find them at the pound. If we ever get another one I will likely get another Vizsla from rescue because I just love the breed.
@MegaMooseEsq - 'And f-it, I ran, so that was good.' Absolutely! You got it done and you made it around the lake!
@ariceroni - I have never known anyone to be attacked by red-winged black birds. We had them at home in Idaho and I just recently discovered some here along the river.
@midwesterner85 - OUCH!! I hope you get that looked at and that it is nothing too serious!
I went out for a tempo build run and ended up with something maybe closer to intervals IDK... Hobbes kept wanting to stop and I may have let him so I could catch my breath. I drove my HR up to and just over LT more than once which was likely why I couldn't sustain the pace and needed to stop. I need to adjust the display on my watch to show current pace rather than average pace so I know if I am going to fast.

Wanted to run more, but again did not have the time so did what I could in the time I had. I can not believe how little running I am getting in, but at least I ran today!4 -
So... put an offer in on a THIRD HOUSE. The first two we had to back out of on account of the inspection finding out they were essentially death traps. 3rd time is the charm, right?13

Slow and steady four miles on the treadmill. Was planning on six, but a couple of blisters I got earlier in the day (damn you cute strappy sandals) were a bit sore, and I also had a couple of chafing hotspots (I knew there was a reason for those shorts being right at the back of the closet). Oh, and I bashed my knuckle on a sticky-out bit of the treadmill (got a lovely bruise and some swelling). At which point I decided to call it a day.9

The good socks aren't cheap. The best running socks for blister prevention (doesn't help with blister recovery) are wool/synthetic blends. Darn Tough is good, Smartwool is good, there are probably other good brands. I got a pair of Feetures wool socks as an age group prize, and they were good for running in warm humid weather; but they wore out quicker than the Darn Tough socks.
Darn Tough socks are expensive, at least the first time. But they come with a lifetime guarantee; when you wear them out, you mail them back to the company and they send you replacements. The socks I bought in 2011 for a then-expensive $18 per pair were a bargain in 2016 when I shipped 5 pair back for replacement at a total cost around $7 postage.5 -

I should try other brands, but it just hasn't been a priority as I don't ever remember getting a blister.1 -

@MegaMooseEsq My favorite socks are Steigen. They are not cheap, about 20$ a pair. They dont shrink and I've never had blisters or hot spots, even with wet shoes (i like to stand in the water and cool my feet off) . They are thin and dont make my feet hot.
I like smartwool. But they have gotten to where they feel tight after so many washes. I do have several winter pair that i still love.
I have (maybe had, since my daughter steals my socks) that were recommended by @skippygirlsmom, something feet... feetures? They were nice too.
Nike and UA have their versions that might be a bit cheaper as you transition to better socks. I also liked sofsole. I cant remember where i got them, but they do just fine.
I bought a lingerie bag to put them in becausr i flip out when they get lost in the wash. Usually stuck inside a shirt or something.1 -

Unlike my poor husband I had a pretty good run, 33 and change for 5k despite stopping to see if he was okay. I feel like I'm able to stride out more - I have been running really slowly trying to keep my knee from swelling - and this morning the knee is possibly a little warm but otherwise fine.
I wish we could run at night without having to run this neighborhood. We passed a guy leaving his house and getting into a car with a gun in his hand which he stuck into his waistband. He was wearing an apron so my guess is he was on his way into work and doesn't like the neighborhood any more than I do, but it still gave me a turn.
We win the lottery, I'm buying you a better neighborhood.

Are these the kind you're talking about? I like the price but I'm suspicious because of the price. So many options! I definitely appreciate all the suggestions - I actually have two pairs of Wrightsocks I got on sale from REI but I've only worn them a couple of times, and seeing as I'd never had problems with my socks before today, have been dragging my feet about switching over for good. Lesson learned!1 -

I had to go to the office today for my internship (I've gotten called in as needed over the last few years to do all the boring projects that nobody else wants to bother with). So had to get up earlier than usual for over an hour-long commute, so I got very little sleep last night. Didn't end up running today because of that - does playing Just Dance count as a workout though? ;P
Yesterday I did a recovery run of 1.54 miles after feeling surprisingly tired from the 3-miler I put in on Sunday. Quick side note - if you sometimes wear self-tanner, make sure your actually wash off the color guard before going out on a run in the rain. It was a disaster and I didn't even realize it until I saw brown color running down my leg when I was coming home.3 -

@MegaMooseEsq - I am also a Smartwool fan. They are a bit expensive but I have found them on sale at half price in stores (REI) and online. They are pretty much all I wear all year round. I usually get the PhD Run Ultra Light because they are thin enough that they don't make my feet feel hot. They also make a PhD Run Light Elite that have some padding in the heels and toes. They do shrink, like @Elise4270 says, so I make sure I wash them on cold. I also like the Steigen socks but they are more expensive and not available in any store here.

Hard 13k workout for me. I started by running about 6k to this track I had seen on google maps, and found out it's perfect for a trail runner, basically one lane in dirt around a soccer field. There's a fancy-shmancy nice track fenced in right next to it at a school, but I don't know the rules about whether I can use that one (and it did look like there were students on it, and I kind of thought the dirt track was awesome). So I was already hot and tired, but wanted to at least do something - 4x400 speed repeats it was. I haven't done a track workout since last summer! Then I ran (and walked from time to time) home a different way, via some overgrown trails (ouch, stinging nettles) and up my crazy hill, and it was only about 5k home. Turns out my 400s were more like 350s, so next time I'll bike over to do a full track workout, and measure out 400 a little better. I used a stick to mark where to start/stop
I also added 30k to my goal for the month.

I’ve definitely been feeling overwhelmed by the various labels from each manufacturer. One of the ones I looked at had certain socks marked as “last season”?!? Too much for me. I think I’ll grab a pack of those UAs for my shorter runs, wear the Wrightsocks for long runs, and maybe watch REI for sales. They been picking up cat hair like mofos but so it goes. Hooray, the forums are working again!
Today I had an ugly 3.5 mile... something on the treadmill this morning. I'd call it a run but meh, the pace was so bad I may as well have been walking real fast. My energy levels are never very good in the early morning. My previous run was in the afternoon and the pace was much better.
I don't know why I'm so obsessed with pace. Probably because I want to get back to where I was before. I think I need to take the advice of whoever suggested deleting my old Garmin and Strava data and starting over.7 -

Maybe start over with new usernames? That way, you can go back to the old data if you want, but aren't constantly comparing yourself to it.4 -

Another humid run this morning. It felt pretty hard because the air just felt so thick. But I did a pretty good job of keeping my pace under 12 minutes (except the last mile was 12:05) and I got 5 miles done. I thought I saw a goat trying to climb over a fence, but as I got closer I realized he was just trying to eat some leaves off a mesquite tree. Other than that it was a pretty uneventful run.

It has been so hot and humid (94% humidity) that I actually got irrationally angry at Mother Nature at mile 6 this morning. LOL. I was seriously pissed. It was so humid I felt like I couldn’t breath. It keeps threatening to rain and then the clouds blow over - for 4 days now. It’s turning the air into a sauna.
I did discover that a park near my house has COLD water that comes out of the water fountain. Totally amazing at mile 8. I was already drenched from super-sweating so I just dumped a water bottle full on my head. I made all the kids in the park jealous. Their parents wouldn’t let them “play”

Stinking hot, didn't want to stay up past 10 to run last night and didn't want to get up early this morning either (I tried).
So I will run the treadmill after work today in the nice air conditioned gym. I will Embrace the Suck I know is coming... (I haven't run for a week)7 -
