It has been so hot and humid (94% humidity) that I actually got irrationally angry at Mother Nature at mile 6 this morning. LOL. I was seriously pissed. It was so humid I felt like I couldn’t breath. It keeps threatening to rain and then the clouds blow over - for 4 days now. It’s turning the air into a sauna.
I did discover that a park near my house has COLD water that comes out of the water fountain. Totally amazing at mile 8. I was already drenched from super-sweating so I just dumped a water bottle full on my head. I made all the kids in the park jealous. Their parents wouldn’t let them “play”
In the water fountain. LOL

Weather was a little better this morning. Dew point and humidity still high but the temperature was a bit lower. Ran/walked 2.23 miles in 32 minutes then off to the gym for strength training and 30 minutes on the bike. I'm feeling good today about my effort.
I also decided to modify my ticker since I'm almost to the 40 miles. I realize this is a combo of running and walking but I've got to start somewhere...

I no longer envy you treadmill runners and I will probably never step foot on one again. Not being able to “freely” change my pace is not fun. Lol. I was doing my warmup when my towel fell on the treadmill, totally messed up my balance and I went down and jacked myself up so horribly. Thank sweet Jesus I have a sense of humor, I just laughed at myself, and kept going. I think I’ll stick to running outside cuz even with the elliptical you still can’t “freely” change pace. Now I will baby myself for a couple of days cuz that s**t hurt. I played basketball and did MMA in college and have been hurt a lot worse but holy crap am I in pain. Treadmill skinned me alive. Lol18 -

@amymoreorless cold water is an amazing find
@polskagirl01 cool track you found there. Our school tracks in the area are basically if it’s unlocked you can use it outside of school hours. Ours is locked right now but if I walk around behind the baseball fields I don’t have to jump the fence lol.

@abutcher2122 that sounds awful! Hope didn't do any lasting damage.
@cburke8909 that is a pretty precise ticker you have going on there taking your current mileage out to 10 decimal places Hey I get it. I would want to count every nanometer I can. But that is some good speed work you did. Thought you were tapering though for your HM this weekend?0 -

I love my treadmill but I have a fear of the thing stopping suddenly while I'm running. It happened once at a gym I used to go to. Power went out in the middle of my run, and THAT was a rude awakening. Ever since then I've been scared it'll happen again.1 -

Legs day yesterday, Planned a late night run for today but it is supposed to thunderstorm, so putting it off for tomorrow and doing arms/ abs roller tonight. Hopefully the weather will be a little cooler after the storm too. I can't remember a June this hot, this is more like our usual August weather.

@rheddmobile It is better today, but not back to normal yet. I still went to the dr. to see what they can do to help. I had x-rays and am waiting for results.5

Well, they did not amputate right away, so that is a positive sign...5 -
Not going to get a run in today, and that is probably a good thing. It is so humid here today that within seconds of walking out of the food store my sunglasses were completely fogged and dripping water.2

We're waiting with you.1 -
@scott6255 The workout was part of my taper week which I found surprising. My ticker does some weird s&!t and it only gets weirder when I correct it. I've got two days to take it easy before the race Saturday, I'm feeling good so I'm excited. My little brother is racing the 5k this year instead of the half so there's no head to head family face off. (secretly I'm wondering how close I can come to his pace for the 5k on my half.)
@skippygirlsmom Law and Order is well worth a rest day. It used to be on at the gym in the morning and I often did extra to get to the end of an episode. No sound but CC to read.8 -

I took Monday off after my long run, and hubby and I decided to just go swimming last night since it was so hot. It didn’t help that our a/c at work was out Monday and Tuesday, so I really didn’t feel like running after anyway. I got in 3.5 miles tonight as a make-up - it is normally my rest day.10 -

Happy to be back at home, where it is considerably cooler. Got in this afternoon and had a little bit of a nap and then went to group speedwork. Tonight was intervals of 60 seconds hard then 60 seconds recovery x 16. Then 8 sprints. With warm-up an cool-down it was 6.63 miles for me. I think that's the highest mileage I've every gotten on a speedwork night.
Tomorrow will probably be a rest day. I had a good 7 days in a row of running, with several of those in some major heat, so I'm ready for a day off.

40.37/120 km not gonna make goal this month!
It's so stinking hot. But I got in a slow 4.61 km on the treadmill. Didn't hurt as much as a first run after a break normally does for me. I wasn't nearly as tight & sore. So that's something . Actually I felt pretty good. I just wish the rec centre treadmills had a longer time limit (30 min max). It was busy when I got there so I couldn't do 2 back-to-back runs the way I usually do.
Forecast for my trail race Sunday is stinking hot with high humidity. Looks like they reworked the route to make it a bit more technical too. Should be fun - I'm okay with taking things slow and easy. As long as the race helps me better myself or learn something about myself, it's a successful race after all .

I had literally spent like a good 20 minutes searching through and making sure I tagged everyone who said something about my treadmill stupidity and I hit the wrong done button. Ugh. If I didn’t have a 3 hour silent film and paper analysis to write I would totally take the time to write it again but my paper is due by midnight.10

I have a friend running Western States 100 Mile this weekend in Squaw Valley. This is the weather forecast for the weekend!
.Timing and Strength...
*Hot Temperatures
*Friday - Sunday, hottest Saturday
*Widespread Valley temperatures 100-106
*High Fire Weather Danger
*Friday - Sunday, strongest winds Saturday - Sunday
*North wind gusts 20-30 mph, and relative humidity 10% or
lower
.Weather Summary...
*A rapid warming and drying trend is in store this week with
high pressure building over the region. Hot temperatures
Friday into the weekend will increase the potential for heat-
related illnesses for those exposed to prolonged outdoor heat,
especially the elderly, children, and other sensitive groups.
Dry conditions with gusty north winds will increase the
potential for fire starts and rapid spread.
Yikes!3 -
