i was considering making a path in my backyard so i can do little laps in the backyard
I'd considered doing the same thing. Set out a sprinkler... But it'd drive my dogs nuts!

That sounds really boring. My normal route in town is to go to the park (about 1.6 miles when I go the long way), then do loops (1 mile around). I try to change it up since there is a criss-cross in the middle - so I can do figure 8's sometimes to change direction. But I'm already getting really bored with this... it is pretty close to treadmill boring. Since I should have time, I'm going to head out of town for my long run this weekend and run somewhere I've only been one or a few times.4 -

I was scheduled for hill repetitions of 1 minute zone 5 and 2 minutes recovery. I decided to just d them on my normal route since my incline is barely long enough for 30 seconds. I did incorporate 3 different inclines into the 8 repetitions. My legs were dead and my recovery turned from super sliw jog for 2 minutes to walk at least 30 seconds then slow jog.
I once tried to run in my backyard. It's waaaaaaaay too small. I got bored after about 2 laps/5ish minutes. It was just to warm up for weights but might as well jog in place.1 -

First Aid kit includes tick removers and full strength DEET insect repellant for evil Blandford flies which are out in force.

A hip flask. Because. Spiced rum really eases muscle pain after a race....
I’m not bothering with a full hydration pack as there’ll be aid stations with goodies, but I’m mixing up a strong tailwind mix to have. It worked ok for me last time I did a long run.
I’ve just prepped some food for before the race, taking a camping stove but there’s plenty of food (and rumours of ice cream and beer) on site.
Here’s hoping to come home with a medal!!!

I must be hormonal right now because I yelled at my radio app for playing too many of the same damn commercials!
I need a better app to listen to. I'm not really into podcasts, or rather haven't found any that hold my attention. What I am looking forward to is tomorrow morning's Sports Medicine Weekly show. Love that show, always so interesting. They frequently talk about running and running injuries. That's what I need... a running podcast!
Today was about 3.5 miles again, mostly walking uphill but about a mile of actual running in there. Saving my energy for a nice long run tomorrow.
Addendum: Just checked my cycle app, it's about that TOM for me. So I am indeed hormonal. Whee!9 -

Skip and I are running the Runway 5K tomorrow. Straight 3.1 flat down the Huntsville Airport Runway with 1500 of my closest friends. Haha Most of you know I HATE HATE HATE straight runs, I love to turn turn turn so this should be fun
Just found out there is a Half Marathon in December in the town Skip is going to school. Oh what a great excuse to head out that way. Wait she might be on break then. ha ha

I went for a walk last night because it was hot hot hot and then found about 2km in that it had turned into perfect running weather because a breeze sprang up and clouds rolled in. But I wasn't wearing running gear .
No run this morning - thunderstorm. Supposed to be stormy all day but I optimistically brought my kit to work and I'll run home if it doesn't look too threatening out. Otherwise I guess I'm watching for a break in the clouds all evening!0 -

I have this obstacle in my yard from a storm a couple weeks ago. I've since cut some of the small branches off, but the main part remains until a co-worker comes with his chainsaw to use for firewood.

Slow couple of miles this morning - I made some poor decisions the last couple of days and am still paying for it. But I got out and ran, and that's the important thing. And we're flying to the west coast today - two days in Portland followed by three in Vancouver (assuming that Canada hasn't closed the border in disgust). I risked putting my running clothes in the dryer so they'd be ready to pack, hopefully I actually get some miles in while I'm gone. My spouse just told me he really NEEDS to buy some $750 shoes before the trip, so this vacation is definitely off to a good start. Time for a nap.

Thanks for the thanks from people and good luck to everyone else racing or even just getting out for a run this weekend.
@fitoverfortymom – the guys that organise my race tomorrow tend to make it more like a family fun event (although this one is around the Cerne Abbas Giant, he’s an ancient monument with a particularly LARGE appendage so there’ll be quite a lot of rude references all weekend….) There’s dancing, crazy races and silly starts, whilst still being super well organised and managed races.
@skippygirlsmom George is a baton for a relay. So there’s something called a ‘Frolic’ race, where you run laps, and can run these in teams as a relay. Each lap is around 10k, and last year there were people trying to do their first 50 miler like that. Rather than an ordinary baton, they decided (because the Race Director is nuts) to use squeaky toys. People collect them. I kid you not. As to why a female cow is called George.....too much reading of Enid Blyton as a kid. I plan to collect others and name them Julian, Dick, Ann and Timmy....

June 20- Another easy 3 miles in 36:00 as I am sore from my knees to my neck from last nights HIIT class

June 22- Upper body strength. No run
Race goal- The Moose Is Loose 10K trail run July 14. Under an hour.

I ran 4.6 miles this morning. It wasn't quite as humid as yesterday, but it was still a tough run. I felt slow and then I was annoyed because I was playing Zombie's Run and about 3/4 of the way through my phone just shut off. I lost the entire episode and I didn't have time to start it over from the beginning.

@skippygirlsmom That is about 4-7 ft. high, so it would be more like climbing/pulling oneself up and then jumping off again. Or just duck underneath it (maybe 1-3 ft. off the ground at various points). One wouldn't simply jump over that.1

@BruinsGal_91 Good job on the Corporate Challenge. Last year the start was like that for me, got lined up late because of rain and general disorganization and it was a nightmare to weave through. This year was pretty smooth though. Sorry it slowed you down but great job and glad it was fun.

Goal = 110 miles
I left myself a little short of time to get my 3 miles in today (because the dog was being too cuddly this morning). Ran the streets and parking lots around the gym before my circuit training class started. Really nice morning out, but had to be careful of traffic because people were flying around trying to get to work on time. Not the best roads to run on at that time of day in an industrial/business area.

Foot has not cooperated since Saturday's run. Not going to make it to goal this month. I have a 6 miler on the schedule tomorrow, so we will see how that goes.
I have to go for a follow up visit to see the Sports Medicine doctor about my Plantar Fasciitis on Monday. Today was the last Physical Therapy session he ordered, so we will see what Monday brings.
I did register for my July and October races today. July race I can walk if need be and I am praying I am better by October to run the Cane Field Classic. A machete as a medal is always a great reason to run through sugar cane fields.
