The first thing I do when I approach a new way of eating is to research it. I learn the reasoning behind the diet, the recommended foods, potential benefits or negatives. I work out whether it's worth attempting - does it suit my lifestyle, my budget, my food likes/dislikes etc.

That you don't know what to eat suggests that you haven't really looked in to keto... I would recommend doing your research first. Giving yourself a couple of weeks to work out what it involves and easing yourself in to it isn't going to do any harm

Check out these two groups, there are community members in them who have been doing keto long term and have plenty of recipes. Everyone goes through a mental block about what to eat when changing up how they eat, even just calorie counting. I think I had the same menu plan for weeks until I got a handle on how to make things fit without completely screwing up my macros or nutrition. You'll get the hang of it.

on youtube you can go to ketoconnect. They have great recipes. Also, if there is a food you are craving, someone on youtube is bound to have a keto friendly version. It's great because they are actual videos which makes cooking the dishes easy. Stock coconut flour, almond flour, spinach, low carb marinara sauces such as Victoria's found at walmart. I keep heavy whipping cream in the fridge, cartons of 100% egg whites, and Silk Almond milk. Make sure you have Stevia handy. Also keep your raw virgin coconut oil handy. I also use Olive Oil and Avocado oil. Eat Avocados 1/2 at a time a couple of times per week. Buy sugar free BBQ sauce (found at walmart) and sugar free ketchup (ordered on amazon.) Also shop on Amazon for some nice deals. Keep lots of eggs in the house and block cheese, especially any cheddar cheeses. Holista pizza on youtube is great. When you plateau, look into the egg fast. Also look for egg fast recipes and have them ready. I make pizza, chinese type stirfrys, meatloaf, all types of meat dishes. I use Riced cauliflower from Walmart for my rice. Buy green giant zucchini noodles to make your spaghetti. I finally bought a little machine to make my own zoodles that was cheap and works very quickly. There is more variety than people think in keto. Lots of fabulous websites out there. Pinterest also has a ton of them. Best of luck to you.

Keto is great but if you want a start with fewer side effects (I.e. keto flu) spend a month transitioning to low carb, then process to between 20 -50 carbs a day. Type 2 diabetics aim for less than 20. If Type 2 and morbidly obese, check out http://Virta Health.com for guidance.

Recipe Websites, http://keto connect.com and https://www.ruled.me/ are good starting points. If you are thoroughly addicted to sugar, grains, processed foods, and all elements of the Standard American Diet, take your time adapting. Take one problem area at a time.
