Well, it ~DID~ have calories, and I ~DID~ eat it. No pictures, though.
I was helping out with a five-day paddling trip that is in part a fund-raiser for a non-profit organization that protects the river. The meals were catered and were NOT what I'd normally eat. I ate more than I normally would. But with paddling 85 miles over five days in all the heat, and all the up and down to/from the boats, and with all the turning around and paddling back upstream to keep our sub-group of twelve boats together, I only gained about a pound. Big breakfast each day. I ate because there wouldn't be food until lunch. We got a sack lunch each day - big sandwich, some pasta or grain salads, chips, fruit, bars, brownies, cookies.... and big catered meals.
Breakfasts had potatoes, eggs, and bacon/sausage most days. One day it also had some really good black beans and what one guy thought was carrots but when I told him I thought it was sweet potatoes he decided to have some. I had seconds.
Suppers were varied from smoked tri-tip, pizza, and oh I don't even remember. Side dishes galore. I estimate I ate 3500 calories or more each day. Probably more. Would I do it again? Not today. I need a day or two to recover, but... YES.3 -
